While looking for the halfway point between our home and our campground in Maine we stumbled upon the Ethan Allen. Since I needed a place that we could stay with our 2 year old boxer, Crue I started looking on Bring Fido. Of the places in Danbury this was rated one of the best for pets. I was pleasantly surprised with the cleanliness of the hotel and room. I’ve stayed in far more expensive, non pet friendly hotels and not had this clean of a room. There was no odor of pets, the room and hotel itself was very quiet. The lack of noise made for a great first time having our pup in a hotel. He wasn’t bothered by the typical hotel noise (slamming doors, heavy footsteps above etc) as there was none, and we were able to get a good nights rest. The beds and pillows were comfortable. While the restaurant/bar were not yet open due to Covid, we did find over 100 options to have delivered on GrubHub. The only downside if you do have a pet is the limited grass for walking/bathroom. There are several gas stations right next to and across from the hotel, making fueling up for the last leg of our trip easy. There’s anMcDonald and a Dunkin’ right across the street as well. Front desk staff is friendly and this will be my go to stop! Sign up for the GuestBook too (their loyalty program) because you can get cash back or forward for each visit and it’s well worth it!

Let me say first that the desk works were friendly and the check-in was handled well. The conditions of the hotel are deteriorating due to staff shortages and financials related to COVID. the internet was very poor and kept kicking me off. The carpets in the halls need to be replaced. Very stained and appear dirty. I was surprised that there was no in-room coffee and the furniture was very basic, scratched. For a place called Ethan Allen, I had much higher expectations. No food was available because the restaurant is closed. I wished I would have spent $30 more and went to a brand-name competitor.

Do not be fooled by some of the reviews. We booked our stay based on the reviews and it was a HUGE MISTAKE. Besides our room being filthy (bathroom having hair in tub, walls having dirty handprints, couch having stains, and much more) the hallways were constantly filled with marijuana smoke. Our room was at the end of the hall and I noticed the outside door lock was broke, I told management about the security problem and they did nothing. That night I figured out why, the local drug dealers walked in and sold their drugs from the hallway. In fear for our safety we immediately left the hotel. Besides all of that the staff could care less about Covid and didn't adhere to any protective protocols. This place should be shut down

Found a friendly price and stayed one night. Building doesn't look fantastic from street, but it's nice inside and in good shape. The mattress and pillows were terrific. The bathroom has a tub/shower, but was clean. Quiet place, good reception and easy parking.

We had looked forward to staying for the first time at this hotel. Being owned by the company that makes and sells high end furniture, we were expecting an above average room. Red flags went up as soon as we wheeled our luggage down the dirty hallway. Ethan Allen took a regular hotel room and built a half wall to separate the bed from the living area. No door. Not exactly what I call a suite. A shelving unit holds the TV which has been placed on the very top shelf under the decorative trim so only 3/4 of the screen shows. Guess they’re worried their clientele will steal it. And the furniture! Scratched, dented, dark pine, nothing matches. Then we got to the bedroom. There were too many stains on the bedspread to count. Disgusting. The only redeeming qualities are the lobby looks very classy and updated and the manager at the front desk was very friendly. How it got a 4.5 rating is baffling.
