Hi Dineen & Joe! What a fabulous review from first time B&B guests! Thank you so much! Your review helps change the perception of the B&B experience. We're not all lace and doilies and you do have your own bath! Thank you for choosing the Riverwind to stay at when we know you had other options. Plus we got to see you and the girls all dolled up for the wedding - never mind Joe! We look forward to your return for another weekend - make it soon! Best, Stacie & Mike Innkeepers

We spent the weekend at the Riverwind along with our friends. My best friend and I were celebrating our birthdays and we decided to stay somewhere other than a hotel. This place far exceeded our expectations! When we walked in, I felt as though we had stepped back in time. The inn is furnished with charming and cozy period pieces and also boasts several fireplaces. Our hosts Stacie and Mike were very warm and welcoming. Stacie has a flair for decorating and it's reflected throughout the inn. She is also an exceptional cook as our breakfasts were not the usual bacon and eggs but gourmet meals that one would have thought were prepared by a chef who attended culinary school. We met other guests at breakfast and shared delightful stories with each other. We never felt like guests, but rather felt like friends and family. We stayed in the Quilt room and found all of the comforts of home there. We hope to return there soon and I would highly recommend this gem of a place!

Hi Donna and Team Fun! The sign above the door that states "Enter as strangers, leave as friends", is an understatement when it comes to you all! Thank you so much for the wonderful review but we feel like we should be thanking you for your company and the truly touching and hysterical stories - guests crying one minute and laughing the next. Sometimes we have guests meander in for breakfast, taking their time, not sure what to do. Not this weekend, breakfast was the place to be and people were fighting for a seat at the table! We are so glad you enjoyed our local restaurants and your 2 day steam train adventures. Thank you again for your fabulous review. We hope to see you all again soon. Oh, and Happy Birthday ladies! My wife and I stopped overnight at the Riverwind Inn on our way to a wedding along the Connecticut shore in early September. We are very glad we chose this Inn. We arrived late afternoon after a long drive. Michael welcomed us, went over our options for breakfast, showed us our room on the first floor and gave us a good recommendation for an informal dinner in the village. The Inn has a rustic atmosphere and contains many period 19th century architectural touches and furnishings, while at the same time being up to date in terms of comforts. Our room was very well appointed and had a spacious bathroom with shower. The only quibble we had was that the mattress was slightly firmer than we were used to, but it did not interfere with our sleep. A large stone fireplace with a working wood stove dominates the parlor/living room. We did not need it in early September, but could imagine how cozy it would be in winter. The grounds have a pleasant patio and are well landscaped with flowering plants. The Inn is well situated for a walk around Deep River village and down to the Connecticut. Deep River is a small and quiet community, but one that still offers good dining options and has an interesting history. Breakfast, served at 8:30, was excellent. Coffee was available early. The area is rich in history and has some interesting towns and options for entertaining ways to tour, e.g. the steam train from Essex, that passed through Deep River when we were down by the old station at the river. Our only regret is that we stayed only one night and had but one day to explore. We felt well cared for as guests and would return again.
Thank paul h

DavePaul! How are you? Thank you so much for this wonderful review! When we hear from guests like you, it's a great reminder of the reason why we bought the inn. Makes it all worthwhile! Your kind words help us to focus on improving our guests' experience and it helps others to see the Riverwind Inn experience and the proximity of the inn to so many things to see and do. We'd love to have you back in the winter to settle right in front of the fireplace - so cozy! We'll find you a softer bed! Thanks again for the very informative and fabulous review. My hubby & I were celebrating our 17th wedding anniversary, and found this enticing B & B close to the theater where we were going to see Cyrano with Peter Dinklage, our favorite character from the Game of Thrones. I was greeted by a bottle of champagne & lovely flowers when we checked in ! What a surprise from my hubby !! The innkeepers, Mike and Stacie, were such gracious and warm hosts. Stacie puts out an incredible breakfast each morning ! Riverwind is close to many restaurants and sight-seeing places. Mike recommended we do the steam train & river boat tour, which was absolutely enjoyable ! We also visited Gilette Castle, a unique home built of stone. We ate at Rustica Restaurant near the B & B, and totally enjoyed the authentic Italian food, as well as the informal and friendly outdoor experience of Bill's Seafood on the docks in Westbrook. Riverwind is such a comfortable, cozy and friendly place to stay at. Love the wood-burning firepit in the backyard, and the beautiful flowers surrounding the place. Would love to come back with the whole family sometime !!

Hey Bill & Zenny! From the very moment you stepped through the door, to the moment you saw the flowers and champagne and every morning at breakfast, you were both so happy about - well everything!! So much fun to have you as guests. Thank you so much for the fabulous review! As you pointed out, there is so much to see and do here and you packed in as much as you could in two days! Please come back and make it an annual for you love birds or bring the family - can just imagine all the laughter! Thanks again for taking the time to write such a great review. There is no better place than this inn to stay when you are in the area. I read quite a few reviews before I stayed here because I usually do a vacation rental home. But, since none I liked were available, I picked this inn because I didn't read one bad one. Michael and Stacey not only fastidiously maintain their inn and gardens, they are super hosts. Stacey cooks healthy (but not overly) breakfasts and Michael knows the area well and is a great go-to person when you have any questions. (The town of Deep River also has the best soft-serve you will ever taste within walking distance of this inn. Had I known about it the first day I arrived, I would have visited it every single day.) Your stay will be quiet and comfortable here. Look no further.

Wow Jean! Thank you for this fabulous review! We're really glad that you're other choices didn't work out - lol! And we're glad that you decided to stay even with your change of plans. Being on our game all day, every day is what brings in great guests like you. We know they're happy when they're belting out John Denver in their room!! Glad you enjoyed the ice cream, they have great shakes too! You know your room has a fireplace - you'll have to come back in the winter to relax there. Thanks again Jean for taking the time to write such a wonderful review. Best, Stacie & Mike Innkeepers
