Detailed Reviews
We called Thursday the night before and ask about any specific camper/tent rules because we was planning to take all the kids. We were assured that the bathrooms & showers were accessible during the day as well as a tent set up for the kids only to sleep in was totally ok. We arrive Friday night and setup shop. No issues... Saturday came the issues Saturday morning no access to bathrooms until almost 9am and NO showers available. No activities for the kids and the pool "reservation only" was booked in advance by other campers. Also Saturday the owner drives by yelling something at me from her car. At the time I was not aware who she was and couldn't make out what she was yelling. I approached her car and she yelled for me to take down the kids tent now because tents are NOT allowed. I apologized and mentioned that I called Thursday before arriving and was told the tent for the kids was fine and she then yelled stating shes the owner and that its my problem to check their website before camping. I apologized again and agreed to take it down immediately but she didnt even seem happy with us being there at all and continued to yell and babble about being one if the owners.. Nelsons Campground should be renamed Nelsons Retirement Home because it's now looking more like a nursing home than a campground. After that we felt so uncomfortable and not welcomed i didnt even sleep Saturday night.. Never again.

It's sometimes difficult to find non-alcoholic activities to enjoy while camping, Not a Nelson's. There was a "dairy bar" with great ice cream and food, Bingo and a car show, all in one weekend. A wonderful handcrafted train for kids to play on and a small petting zoo.

Gustines RV rip off the seasonal
Campers and weekenders, and are the rudest people.
Not worth coming to this campground.
Michelle and Bruce are just plain rude to you even if you camp there for years!!!
They do not care about anyone, just money hungry people!!!
Very sad really, it used to be a nice place to camp !!

Stayed there a week in G10. Acorn tree right above and permanent campers across on whole row and most of park. Acorns constantly falling and morning squirrels make them worse. About 5:30 am in summer they will wake you up. BEWARE. The park is full of permanent campers who leave during work week. They have family and children's events planned all weekend if you have...mine are grown.

We are Ct residents and Nelson’s is our go to campground in the summer. We are mid week visitors, prefer less commotion. Ironically we are in G10, same as reviewer below. G section mostly seasonals as 80 per cent of the park appears to be. We did not experience acorn bombs or annoying squirrels. We did find the previous visitors left trash , banana peels and bottle caps in the fireplace. It’s annoying that most leave a mess. Staff could clean after one leaves but the campers should help. Nice peaceful mid week stay with all the amenities that we require. Will return next month in G12.

I have been going to this campground for about 3years now, last year we finally went seasonal thought it was going to be great turned out to be the worst camping as a seasonal seems like the first year you are there as a seasonal you get picked on and scolded like you are a child. they don't know how to talk to the customers that are the ones that bring them their money, but of that is all they care about is the money not how they treat their seasonals, they charge an unreasonable amount for your electric bill every month way more then the electric company charges for my electricity at home !If things don't change with the attitudes from the owners MIchele and Glenn alot of people i know who are seasonals are thinking of going elsewhere us all knowing that your gonna find rudeness everywhere you go but not as rude as these people . They haven't had any new activities for the last 2years the kids are bored and they get in trouble But maybe thats what Michelle wants is to yell at them i think yelling at kids and adults gives her some type of satisfaction, who knows. All it is doing is upseting seasonals and giving bad reviews for her business, both her and glenn should know that when you own a business you should expect that when you treat the most important people that fund your business like children they are going to talk and talk is what gives you business or hampers it. They really need to rethink how they treat their seasonal campers because if they don't i foresee that more and more seasonals are going to go elsewhere.

We stayed here for memorial day weekend as we do every year but this is the last! Michelle the owner is very very rude.We have been camping here for 15 years and its gotten so bad that we are never coming back. The sewage backed up and they would not fix it. I asked michelle "what time does the snack bar open" and she replied "does it look like I work in the snack bar?" I am an adult and was shocked an owner of a company would talk to a customer this way. Tammy who works in the office is very pleasant but Michelle is our deciding factor to never stay here again!!!!

This is our 2nd year seasonal and last year was fine, however I have just recently experienced the wrath of Michelle. I have been told by several seasonal campers that she is rude and treated her customers horrible but, I did not believe it! Well...it is true!!! She has no customer service and I personally cannot wait to sell our camper and leave that campground. I am a mature adult, and believe that I should be treated with respect, and not like a child..Michelle speaks to people like she would her children!!! I am thinking she needs customer service training. Or, maybe she needs to stop working there?? Find a job where she is not dealing with people!!!

I must agree with all the people that complain about the owners. I have been camping at Nelsons for over 20 years not because we like the campground but because we go as a group and our kids have friends there. We have had many bad experiences with the owner at this campground. She definitely needs to sign up for a course at charm school. She is very rude and only cares about making money for her pocket. In 20 years they have made very little improvements to the grounds other than adding new sites so they can makeore money. Stay clear of this place unless you like to be treated like a dirty diaper.

I am a seasonal camper at Nelsons I am thinking of leaving. Weekenders get better treatment than seasonals. We pay for everything, and get little in return. We pay our own electric and pay the highest rate. When we asked that they use lower priced electric supplier, they wouldn't even consider it.
Another complaint: even though there are only 2 of us on the site, we still have to pay for own grown children, and other family members to visit us. What about families who have 5 or more at their site? Why should we have to pay extra?
Gustine's need to make some changes that benefit the seasonals. We are their guaranteed income-they don't seem to realize this. And I completely agree with the other comments regarding cuatomer service. There is none-just rude answers.
They need to know that many seasonals are looking to pull out unless some good changes are made.
