We visited on a very rainy Saturday and turned up a bit early for lunch but nevertheless were welcomed in (sorry about walking on your newly washed floor!). Staff were friendly and accomodating.
It's quite an "olde worlde" feel inside the restaurant which is situated on the road from St Andrews/Guardbridge to Dundee and has been reopened this year by Manuel Rascon and his family.
Kryztal, Manuel's wife, came over personally at the end of the meal to ensure all was well, which was a lovely touch.
All in all, well worth a visit for breakfast, lunch or dinner!

This is a very comfortable inn, within easy reach of St Andrews and the other attractions of Fife. The hosts, Manuel and Krystal, who have only been there for a year, could not be more attentive and welcoming, and the food, which has both Spanish and Mexican touches, is superlative. Our rooms were comfortable, particularly the beds, and the place is spotlessly clean. They are still in a process of refurbishment, but this in no way gets in the way of the guests. The breakfast is Continental, and it would be improved if it was put out as a buffet rather than listed verbally at the table.

Having dined here before on a couple of occasions, we felt confident that having a family meal here on Christmas Day would be a fairly safe bet.
When we arrived (just before 3pm) we were seated quickly. However that was the end of anything quick! Our first drinks order was taken at 3.40pm. The first course arrived around 3.55, with the main course arriving about an hour later. The starter was nice enough, but the turkey main was dreadful. The most overcooked turkey and stuffing I've ever had, with some rock hard veggies. The gravy was nice enough though.
We waited.. and waited.. and waited for dessert. Eventually 3 kids desserts arrived, but none for the 7 adults. When we queried this, we were told they didn't have a dessert order for us! We quickly showed them the confirmation email which showed we did indeed order this, greeted only by a blank look and a vague offer to see if they could make us some. Given how long we had waited (it was now nearly 6pm!) we declined, paid up and left.
Having spoken to a couple of other guests from other tables, it seems that the delays were initially due to a single table being late. To delay service for 60 odd people because a table is late is frankly ludicrous. The other delays I have no explanation for.
You expect a Christmas Day meal to be pretty special - this was not. Unfortunately it has put us off dining here again, which is a shame as generally it is a decent place. I'd recommend strongly not booking here at Christmas time.

Attended Christmas Day 2024 here and what an absolute disaster. One sitting which was held up by 30 minutes due to one of the other parties being late. Everyone had to wait. About an hour to have starter served and while the soup tasted good it was luke warm due to slow service. This review is about service, service, service as every course was held up and the obvious problem was they did not have enough staff on duty. An hour late the turkey arrived, this was very good in taste and presentation and was piping hot but almost everyone was looking at their watches around the room. On speaking with a server the amount of people they had dining was double but that they did not increase staff. Predictably the pudding was slow to produce and my honest opinion that wasn’t worth waiting on. So it was an absolute disaster for our party and we won’t be back. Despite our complaint no discount was offered by way of compensation. They priorities their profit over the quality of the experience. Folk were having to settle their bill as they had booked taxis to pick them up at a certain time (probable expecting a standard 2ish hour cover turn around) while others were seen challenging staff at the utterly appalling level of service. You let yourselves down.

The worst Christmas dinner I've ever had - dreadfully inadequate staffing levels resulting in LONG delays before and between courses (40 minutes+); starter ok but main course in my case almost inedible; pre-ordered dessert order "lost". How did they manage that? An expensive disaster, no price reduction offered, only given when we insisted. AND I was locked in the ladies as there was no door handle, I had to shout and bang for ages till someone happened to come in - sounds funny but could have been serious as I'm elderly with a heart condition. I told the manager and got little response. I wrote a letter to the hotel saying I wouldn't review till they said how they proposed to fix things, as we'd previously heard good reports, but have had no reply, not even an email.

We secided to try thr st Michael's inn for an evening meal on Saturday the 7th December 2024, the food is exceptional, cooked fresh and with skill, the atmosphere is very welcoming and warm and friendly. Beth the waitress was very friendly and helpful. The choice on the menu was excellent. We met the owners and chef, they are very welcoming and friendly. The steak I had was one of the best, cooked to perfection. My mother's steak pie had so much taste, decent size portions. We were so impressed we went back for an evening meal on Sunday the 8th, just as good as before. We will definitely be back and highly recommend anyone goes there for an excellent meal. You won't regret it!!

We stopped here for lunch, after a 4 hour drive from North East England.
We were the only customers in at the time but the Inn deserves to be much busier - the food is fabulous! The pasta was creamy and delicious, the Thai curry was a hit. The request for extra chilli sauce was accommodated and we even got a jar of the special paste to take home. We’ll definitely be back (maybe book rooms next time. The rooms look amazing!)

This review covers the restaurant only as we live nearby. I also, very very rarely write reviews but this is our 4th visit to the restaurant since the new owners took over and can honestly say, the food and attention from staff has been first class during every visit. We shared the tapas as a starter. I had the fresh Sea Bass and my husband had the Rib Eye Steak, as recommended by the friendliest and attentive, Beth. Everything was just as we’d hoped: fresh, hot and very tasty. We will definitely be back and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to all. Thank you
