Back in July, in the midst of covid, I had showed up to Roy’s motel at around 9:30-10pm looking for a room after driving 8+ hours, it was a last resort as I was planning to camp out but couldn’t find a safe spot. After paying $65, I was then given a room that wasn’t clean, the bedding and towels were previously used & not washed, only to be used again which was absolutely disgusting. The fridge had mold, the shower/tub was not cleaned, it smelt musty and like cigarettes. I brought in my own blankets and pillows from camping and used my own towel. I didn’t sleep as I was so disgusted. I was in a hurry to get on the road the next morning, but I made the ‘manager’ aware of this and he said that’s unusual and that he’d talk to the housekeeping staff. I didn’t ask for a refund because he informed me from the start that “refunds can’t be done because I’m not trained on how to do that” which is bs. If you manage any business you should know how to. If I had seen the room before paying, I would’ve just slept in my car.
I have pictures of the bedding that has someone else’s hair on it and what looks to be, ..(if you can only guess what I’m about to say).
I showed up at the motel again on my drive back home almost a week later to discuss a refund as I felt I deserved it and the ‘manager’ told me he couldn’t, and If I had any problems I should contact the owner, but the owner was on a ‘business trip elsewhere’.. yeah right. I asked if I could have the owner’s contact info such as a phone number or email and he didn’t say anything for a solid 30 awkward seconds and said there was a number online I could look up for the business, which is the number to the motel. I tried calling it and no answer every time.
Bottom line, don’t stay here, it’s disgusting, you won’t get your money back, they should be shut down. I’ll be contacting the health unit about this place.

Do not stay here unless you walk into a room prior to paying!

The owner was nice but this location needs to be renovated.

I heard critters in the wall chewing, had to wear a winter coat inside and used soap in a dirty shower.

In room #3 front door did not lock and another door went to owners area that did not lock either.

Walk through any room prior to paying!

All cars in the lot are broken and stationary not customer cars.

$80 and could not stay more than a few hours.

TV was turned off at midnight by owner.

Very thin walls.

No locks or fire alarms.

Not sure how this location can charge any amount of money for a room legally!

Late night pit stop needed to stop and rest, asked if ok as we have a dog, he was worried about dog hair, we entered the room and I see why he was afraid the dog hair would cover all the dirt on the floor
Sorry say the dirtiest motel room I have ever had. Only takes a few minutes to vacuum

Roy’s Motel had a comfortable bed in a smoke free room. Staff were super friendly and helpful. The bathroom was clean. A refrigerator with mini freezer, microwave, TV ( which we never turn on) toaster, electric teakettle and drip coffee pot & filters were in the room. Need to bring your own coffee/tea and cups. Roy was BBQing steak which he shared with us. It was delicious. We had our supper on one of the picnic tables out front. This is not a fancy place, and could use some updating, but for the price it was great. If we were going across the Trans Canada again, near the end of the day, we would certainly stay here again.

Desperate for a "pet friendly" room at 10:30pm after driving for 9 hours, I took this room without looking at it first or doing any research. Rough shape, bathroom was nasty...smelled like cigar smoke. Keep your shoes on type of place. Expensive as well $$$$. Should have slept in the car...

A 1950s era motel located on Highway 17, just outside of Spragge. Has not been renovated.

It's clean, and I suppose it'll do for a night stop if everything else is sold out, but it's certainly not the first choice in the neighborhood. Expensive ($100 a night, tax included), located on a busy, noisy highway, thin walls, no coffeemaker, no kleenex, no amenities at all other than a bar of soap.

Free Wi-Fi but no desk or chair in the room to work at.

Next time, for the price charged, I'll look around for a newer, better place to stay.
