This is the only hotel in the state of Connecticut that has a manned elevator. It's almost like the hotel in Hartford, it's within walking distance to nearby restaurants, and it's about an hour from Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods casinos.

We just spent 4 nights at The Duncan visiting our son at Yale. Great location. Very large room. Friendly staff. This is a facility from the 1940's, very unique. Manned elevator gives better service than the Hilton we are in now. It is not updated, but was 1/3 the price of the other hotels in the area.

I fell in love with duncan hotel the minute i walked in. It is, putting it politely, a hot mess. If the lobby and rooms were cleaned and updated, it could be a wonderful boutique hotel. But...a mess. You love it for the bones and location. It is immediately in the heart of downtown new haven.

We checked into this hotel as a last resort - it was getting late. The lobby was OK looking but the rooms looked old and shabby. There is no wifi in the hotel except in one half of the reception area where you can use the next door deli's network. The elevator is so old that i did not dare...

The Duncan is like greying old lady. Once a magnificent hotel, now an aging property still with glimpses of it's greatness. The hotel is located in the heart of New Haven close to theaters, restaurants and bars. Street parking as well as garage parking is nearby. The once grand hotel is in bad need of restoration. The neon sign outside...

If you're looking for a place to sleep and take a shower, what more do you need? The Hotel Duncan makes it quite clear on their website that they are a no-frills hotel. Yes, it's old, but it's clean and the rooms are big. Plus the elevator is cool. Ask for one of the larger, non-smoking rooms. Close to everything...
