Such a sweet B n B with really kind, welcoming hosts. Our room was cozy but comfy, the bathroom was clean, and the amenities plenty adequate. The included breakfast (we had omelettes, toast, coffee and fruit) was fresh and tasty. We only stayed for about 18 hours here, but even managed to go for a morning swim in the pool. The host said the pool is spring fed - and indeed our skin loved it. It wasn’t highly chlorinated like many pools are. The one thing to keep in mind is that this is an older building - so any noise in the hallways goes right into the rooms. But mercifully, none of the other guests lingered too long there. A really lovely experience overall.

We have been coming here since 1994 and are repeat guests because every aspect of our stays is outstanding. The setting is so beautiful! The hills rolling down to the river across the street offer lovely views and the inn, itself, is a lovely, historic building on the National Register. Every detail of the inn is tasteful and elegant with original woodwork and space arrangement spacious and intact. This inn is classic: not faceless 2023 modern or chain hotel drab. Light flows into the main house through multiple windows and the breakfast room is like a conservatory with flowering plants lining the windowsills.

Excellence in every respect here: comfort, aesthetic, food. Only the best ingredients are used in the delicious breakfasts. The housekeeping goes the extra mile to ensure cleanliness and comfort. Service is outstanding. Our attentive and experienced innkeeper, Lucas, sees that everything is as good as it gets!

This recent visit exceeded our expectations. The Inn only gets better with age. We love it!

After an afternoon of golf in Canaan, we were welcomed to the Blackberry River Inn by Lucas. He showed us two rooms that we could choose from with a connecting bathroom for when our daughter arrived. We stayed in the Carriage House. Although the rooms were a little small, they were comfortable & immaculate. No TV in the room but we could watch TV in the family room just below us. The best part of the Blackberry River Inn was breakfast! Pancakes were served with warm fruit (strawberries, blueberries & apples) - it was almost too pretty to eat! My husband had eggs, sausage & waffles. We also had fruit cups & yogurt plus non-stop coffee & tea. All staff followed Covid protocols (masks were worn & tables were apart from each other). The dining room had a lovely view of the foliage & mountain across the road. The Inn is located on Route 44 in Norfolk, a good location for traveling about the area.

We stayed at the Blackberry River Inn for one night while passing through on the Atlantic Coast Bicycle Route and had a wonderful nights rest and morning breakfast. Joe welcomed us upon our arrival and helped us secure our 3-bicycles in the barn for the night during our slumber. We stayed in suite C8 and suite C9 which were large, comfortable, and quiet. I walked the grounds in the early morning before we departed and what a beautiful gem this is ! For breakfast we got all the nutrition we needed though very generous portions of omelette, sausage, and fruit that powered us well into the day.

We wish we could come here every month. Everything about our stay was incredible. Lucas was exceptional providing amazing service and made our stay feel personal and special. We dont know how he does it, but any time we had a question or request and tried to find him he showed up before we even had to call his name. We think he can walk through the walls.
Breakfast was my favorite part. He gave us coffee, extra juice, and a beautiful fruit bowl while he made our breakfast. It snowed that morning and it felt like a dream. Lucas shoveled our walk way and wiped the snow off our car.
Everything we could possibly need was thought of before we arrived. Extra wood, kindling and fire starters as well as extra wine glasses. There was even complimentary Prosecco for our anniversary.
We highly recommend staying here in the winter to enjoy the peace and quiet. We can’t wait to visit in the summer!

This is a very large, old style property, decorated in an almost Victorian style. The Inn is very charming, but much of the rest of the property is in need of some renovation. It is located on a busy road. We found the bed to be very hard and the pillows almost like rocks. In room #3, some of the faucets were installed backwards, which made it difficult to figure out how to get hot water in the shower. (Turn it close to off, rather than all the way on.)

What almost made up for all of the deficits was our host Lucas. He prepared a wonderful breakfast and was extremely pleasand and helpful.

I cannot say enough about this wonderful inn and it's staff. The breakfast was absolutely delightful everyday and I originally planned to stay two nights but booked a third because it was so restful. The countryside is lovely with lots of hiking around, and the buildings themselves feel beautiful and historic. The staff is attentive and helpful and knowledgeable about the area. I can't quite put into words what is so special about this place but it is special.

This beautiful and historic inn is in a bucolic setting on the outskirts of lovely Norfolk. Staff are friendly and extraordinarily accommodating. Little treats in the coffee area in the front parlor, where soft classical music or jazz plays. Comfortable chairs and a nice reading library. The pool is never crowded. We usually stay in room 2 in the main house, a large two room suite that is a real bargain. Room 1 is a mirror image but a little noisier.

A very comfortable 3-night stay at this lovely inn, not far from Tanglewood and the Berkshires. The breakfasts were hearty, the lodging comfortable, and the country views of the surroundings restfully tranquil. We will definitely return on a visit to western CT and/or the Berkshires.
