Super friendly front desk, cleaning staff, etc. The room attendant even folded towels like a bow on the bed and like a flower in the restroom. Hotel is old and slightly worn but MOST importantly it is very clean. Beds are comfy and room had a coffee maker, fridge, microwave. Bathroom is small by today’s standards but nice and fresh and clean. Convenient to highway and things to do.

Like I said, don’t judge the book by its cover.

We booked as part of a baseball tournament (stay & play). Overall the property was clean.
Our room seemed damp and had a stale smell. We went out to Walmart and purchased room air freshener. Housekeepping was friendly and did a good job. Bath room was ok and had been renovated but showing some wear. The fridge was big and worked great kept everything cold. TV in room had horrible alalog signal, picture was snowy. I asked front desk and was told "We have old tvs in that wing, they need replaced."
The staff had a 3 page honor code for us to sign and was quick to charge my card the full amount at check-in, but slow to deliver the hospitality they charged me for. One team mom bought pizza for the kids and the only place available to eat was in lobby area. As kids cant go into the bar. We inquired to front desk about trash can for the 4 pizza boxs and the desk clerk told her to "carry trash back to your own room".
We heard the previous weekend some kids pulled the fire alarm.
Door 5 card reader broken had to walk around to get in building.
Hot breakfast was scrambled egg and sausage patty, waffle maker. Toast, cereal, yogurt available.

We were greeted in a very friendly manner after a busy holiday weekend. We waited a short while for a room to be ready even though we arrived 1 1/2 hours after the time we said we would arrive (late afternoon). The whole hotel needs a much needed refresh. The room and bathroom were clean. The furniture was old and scuffed with age. The bed mattresses were a bit odd like a memory foam that was too soft. The carpets everywhere in the building look worn and stained beyond rehab. However, again, the staff was friendly and accommodating.

Moldy rooms… couldn’t wait to escape the room
Not worth the $
Room locks are failing on doors preventing access to our room.
Master key from staff also did not work …… what would happen in an emergency.
These are the pass keys they provide to fire dept etc.
While we waited for maintenance to figure out a way back into our room another guest had the same issue.

A very tired property with friendly and helpful staff but avoid this property. Any roadside motel would be of equal quality .

Fall 2021
We have stayed at Quality Inns around the nation and this one is the worst of the lot.

Overall, the hotel is old and in desperate need of a major upgrade. An older building is acceptable if properly maintained and above all kept clean. Think of all the iconic hotels around the world. Unfortunately, this Quality Inn was not clean. Common areas like the lobby were fine but the elevators were filthy and the hallways often had trash sitting unattended.

The front desk staff seemed indifferent, and lazy and there was an older blond woman (Kathy) who was just plain rude. Each time I passed her by, not once did she bother to look up, greet me or show even a scintilla of interest. She should instead be working in front on a computer in the basement.

Breakfast consisted of the lowest quality food possible. There was inedible, industrial grade instant eggs, cheap cereals and other assorted junk. Yes, the breakfast is free but for what the rooms now cost, the meal is decidedly Not free.
For breakfast, go instead to the “Tea Kettle” in town for a great experience.

Our room appeared clean however, the shower drain was clogged with hair and would not drain properly and the sink also drained very slowly. Our TV had static on all channels (like an old antennae). We called the front desk and were told that maintenance would get right on it. It was never fixed. We finally gave up and spent the evenings reading.

This hotel is a one star thinking it’s a four star. As of this writing, this Quality Inn expects 219 per night. Save your hard earned money and stay at a real four star hotel. This one is a loser.

Perfect hotel for long weekend getaway. Room was clean and spacious.
Joe Appi and the whole front desk especially Lei were friendly and made us feel like valued guests the moment we checked in. Lei also recommended restaurants and must see places to visit during our stay which made our trip more memorable.
Will definitely be visiting Old Saybrook and your hotel again.

In Old Saybrook for a wedding. Snowing heavily on trip there. Parking lot and grounds were completely plowed and shoveled, and kept that way. Room very spacious with a terrific king mattress. Staff was outstanding and very friendly. Joe the manager seemed to always be around. Salt water pool was a first for us. It was excellent. Crystal clear water, and without the stink of chlorine found in usual hotel pools. Breakfast was excellent. You can taste the eggs were real, not from a box. We will definitely be back!

The room was larger than some and the staff was quite pleasant, but there were several things that pointed to poor cleaning and upkeep. When we arrived we found a used up on the a/c and another cup as well as an empty water bottle under the bed. There was a piece of wrapped hard candy on the stairs that stayed in place for the 4 nights we were there. The furniture showed some wear and the bathtub did not drain well. I was pleasantly surprised to find a refrigerator and microwave in the room which was not mentioned on the hotel website. The breakfast was acceptable, but other hotels have recently provided a slightly better selection.

My wife and I were guests at the hotel as it was near a family memorial service. Wanted to see the Olympics on Tv
The tv in our room was only on Dish analog and the channels featuring the Games were not available, but their small lobby.

Why was it available there and not in guest room?

This place is a dump! The bathroom smelled like sewer gas (room 108), nothing was plugged in and we had to take bulbs from 1 lamp to another. Coffee pot was missing a part. Afraid to walk on the carpet, as it felt wet but was just dirty. Had to wake up the night /early morning clerk, when we left, who just said, ok you are good. Ad states it’s by scenic water….that’s a big no! I-95 is the only view from front, our view was the large back parking lot.! Plus because this was August, the price was relatively high…$380. For 2 nights
