We stayed in this hotel in Summer 2018 and decided to stay again for our Ski Trip. The hotel environment has drastically changed! There seems to be a lot of homeless or displaced residents now, probably due to the pandemic. They bring guests or visitors that don’t behave properly, are up at all hours, looking for money, and taking substances. You can also find them hanging around the quick stop gas stations nearby. This is the downside of having to make decisions to fill empty rooms. To no fault of the hotel manager because he is very nice and pleasant. The pool is by reservation only. The breakfast is grab and go bags, muffins and granola bars. We did not feel safe on this property and our friends drove back home after checking in for a few hours. They did not even want to stay the night, no matter how exhausted they were. I would not recommend staying at this Marriott location with young children for the time being.

Thank you for sharing your comments with us. Our hotel is designed for long term guests, providing those with moving needs, long term business relocation, or occasional home displacements due to accidents and we welcome them and ensure all guests are welcome. You note that the hotel had homeless people staying with us, and I remain unsure of what you mean. All of our guests are paying guests that we welcome and ensure they follow all policies and procedures. Additionally comments about the surrounding area , including gas stations are outside of our control though the Southington Town and police take pride in a safe environment and many families continued to stay in Southington. Lastly, service of breakfast did change with covid and though we look forward to the state guidelines being lifted and going back to a traditional Residence Inn Breakfast, we must follow local state and town guidelines on offerings. I invite you to reach out to discuss these matters in more detail and make myself available to do so.

We stayed here for 7 nights over Christmas 2020 and in the time of Covid. I stayed with my family. I needed two rooms next to each other as I was traveling with small kids. I had contacted the hotel several times to make sure that I was able to get the rooms next to each other and a two bedroom upgrade as I am Titanium elite. Jay at the front desk was very helpful and was very responsive to my requests. She took the initiative to make sure my rooms were next to each other and that one of my rooms was a two bedroom. Jay also was in constant touch with me to make sure that there was no miscommunication upon my arrival. The check in at the hotel was very smooth and the hotel had protocols for Covid which were adhered to by staff and guests. I found the rooms to be nicely refurbished from our last visit. The only complaint I had was I found the mattress to be sagging and hence the sleep was not as comfortable as I wanted it to be, but still okay. Hot Breakfast at the hotel has always been a plus but during this time of Covid, the breakfast bag consisted of a muffin, granola bar and a small water, modest at best. The pool was nice and refreshing and could be booked at hour slots by room to make sure no other guests were present besides only people in the room. All in all a lovely stay that was made possible by the staff especially Jay. I would stay here again in a heart beat. Keep up the great work!

I stayed here for a weekend of relaxation, and leisure. I traveled with my son, who is 12 and has diabetes. As soon as my son went #2 in the bathroom. A colossal wave of feces filled water came spraying out of the toilet bowl. As we both panicked, my sons bowel movement was quickly becoming a part of the room itself. The toilet continued to spray feces in a 360 degree motion until I was able to turn the water off. Little did we know this was also causing a major flood on the floor below us. Since the bathroom in our room was conveniently located above the 1st floors bedroom, the couple below us got a shower of my sons feces. Unfoutunally, the last thing this stay was leisurely. After spending 3+ hours cleaning up my sons feces, I proceeded to back the system up with feces myself. Two hours later and another brown flood, we ended up having to change rooms since our original room had to be condemned by the Southington board of health due to the large amount of soaked feces that made its way into the rug. Never Again!!! Get better toilets.

It has been a few years since my last visit to this property. As I recollect it was decent enough. I can safely tell you that this hotel is MUCH improved. New furnishings, carpets, wallpaper, etc.. Most importantly the mattresses do not feel well "slept in." All of that is important but special mention goes to the manager and (I think) owner. Problem ? However small, just ring the desk and he'll get the answer. And he is a happy gentleman as well. That goes a long way in my book. So this is what you get for you $$: a VERY clean hotel with new furnishings, a staff that truly appears to car and a manager (and probably owner) who will do whatever is necessary to make it right. Yeah, I'll be back.

My husband got called out to CT on a work trip last minute during this coronavirus scare, so he insisted on taking me and our 10 year old and our two little dogs with him. We usually use home rental sites so I was a little apprehensive about booking a hotel, especially amid all the virus fright. I was very relieved to find that the room we were given with the pups was extremely clean and cute, as this is not always the case in hotels that allow pets. The room is clean, the kitchenette is nicely stocked, the property is quiet/conveniently located/very well-kept, the beds are comfy, the breakfast and coffee are really good as far as hotel breakfasts go — but.... It is the STAFF that made me feel compelled to write a review. Chain-owned businesses like hotels and restaurants and stores all kind of blend together in similarity and none tend to stick out as anything special, even as amenities and services continue to get better. What I hope these corporations realize and don’t take for granted is that it isn’t the heated pool or the breakfast waffle-press or the WiFi that sets a place apart from the dozens of others in the area just like it. It’s the people you pay to RUN the place. This is the second time we’ve stayed at a Marriot property (the other being the Renaissance Carambola in St Croix) and really noticed how exceptionally kind and guest-focused the staff is, and because of that we will make a point of looking for Marriot properties exclusively when we use hotels when traveling. Especially amid the current coronavirus craziness with the local stores all sold out and schools/businesses closed down and everyone kind of cranky and stressed, anyone having to go to work and be at risk from having to interact with the public all day would be forgiven for being stressed and not as focused on guests, but that’s not the case here. It feels like this staff is going above and beyond to keep everyone upbeat. Since we checked in two days ago, everyone we have come in contact with here — from the very sweet and sympathetic woman who checked us in and then had to switch our room (due to us having two dogs instead of one) and the funny guy at the desk at night, to the housekeeping staff and those who serve the breakfast in the morning— has gone out of their way to be exceptionally friendly and helpful and consistently ask if anyone needs anything and make conversation. I really want to emphasize that THEY are the reason for the review and the thing we will remember about our experience that will compel us to choose Marriot properties over their competitors when we travel.
