The Ritz-Carlton Bal Harbour, Miami, earns rave reviews for its luxurious atmosphere and exceptionally clean, spacious rooms according to guests. Travelers commend the staff's professionalism and the high-quality amenities that enhance the beach experience. While the serene environment is often praised, some visitors have experienced issues with spa service billing and spa ambiance. Despite the opulent surroundings, a number of guests feel the hotel does not provide sufficient value, with some facing pricing miscommunications and services that don't seem to warrant the premium costs.

Amazing suite upgrade in recognition of Ambassador Bonvoy status. It was the kind of room that you see in movies. Huge and well appointed with all the amenities I could need.

Paula was very prompt with information on the Marriott app chat and was a dream during pre-check in.

Amanda was a delight to chat with when I wanted to share positive feedback and knows how to appreciate guests.

I stayed at five hotels in Miami and while I think resort fees are unethical, this hotel went to the most effort to provide services guests could actually make use of as part of the resort fee.

Restaurant was very quiet both times I dined so that was such a nice relief after the chaos and inattentive service at the St Regis Bal Harbour. Both meals were delicious and reasonably priced, particularly the dinner. The mojito made by one gentleman in particular was delicious. Good, quick service at the food being brought out and very personable staff. The only thing I’d ask for here is to increase the air conditioning from the 37 degrees or whatever it was set at. Even with my down jacket on and a hot drink it was too cold - really unnecessary when the weather outdoors is less than 60 degrees.

Spa: there is room for improvement here. The young lady at the front desk needs customer service training. Professionalism lacking both over the phone and in person. The relaxation area was not set up for guests - empty tea canisters, water machine not plugged in, let alone serving hot water. The treatment itself was largely good but with the therapist wearing rubber gloves, some of the enjoyment is missing. I had four massages at Marriott hotels on this trip and this was the only spa that had the therapist wearing gloves.

Overall this was one of the best hotel experiences I have had in a long time. Hopefully with the right professional development the spa will match the rest of the property in time.

We spent 3 of the most wonderful nights at the RC Bal Harbour and cannot wait to return! From the moment we checked in, not a single detail was overlooked. The property is beautiful and the staff are so genuinely kind - they truly provide world-class service in everything they do . This is truly one of the most relaxing and luxurious hotels that we have ever stayed. We really appreciated the fact that there are two rooms per floor, giving you both privacy and tranquility during your stay.
Our Titanium status was immediately recognized by the front desk team and we were upgraded to a gorgeous ocean-front suite.
The beach is comfortable and quiet, as this property is on the smaller side for the area. On the beach one day, the head of food and beverage personally approached us by name to make sure that everything was to our standards, which of course, it was! Dayan (at the beach) took excellent care of us and we can't wait to be back!
Additionally, the hotel took every reasonable precaution with the COVID pandemic. We felt comfortable and safe throughout our entire stay.

After a disappointing start where they couldn’t find my reservation and didn’t have the warmest greeting, this turned in to one of the most enjoyable stays and best service we’ve had in a while. The service here is fantastic. There’s only 93 rooms so they really treat you like family. The restaurant staff is a 10, overnight manager is wonderful, and the pool and cabanas are really well maintained. We have a 2 year old and 2 month old and they have everything you could ever need for the kids while still holding to a luxe and chic vibe in the property without it turning in to kids zone. The renovated rooms are gorgeous and if you’re lucky enough to reserve a suite, it’s extraordinary and well worth it. With the service at the St Regis really disappointing us lately, we will be back again for sure!!

My partner and I came down here for a weekend getaway. As we drove up to the hotel valet staff, Matthew took a look at us and asked where we were headed. Umm we weren’t sure what the question was about but we laughed and stated we were checking into the Ritz as it was the only hotel that the driveway led up toward. After I gave him our name for check in, his tone changed and said oh welcome we have been expecting you ladies. Okay...

Anyway, I selected a partial oceanview suite due to other reviews and because my partner and I wanted two balconies. I have stayed at other Ritz Carltons and chose this Bal Harbour location vs the St. Regis because of the world renowned staff friendliness. I was let down on Day 1.

When we first arrived at 3:30pm, front desk staff member Suncheene Joseph said we were given a low floor (2 out of 18) and that if we waited, we could receive a “much nicer” room on floor 7 once housekeeping was finished. The front desk staff offered us nothing for our inconvenience, such as drinks or credits, as other locations or chains would have. We waited 36 minutes for her to call us to offer a room on the 4th floor. We were tired after a long day of flying and Suncheene spoke so highly of the 7th floor views that I was disappointed to hear about the 4th floor room randomly being offered instead.

I asked to speak to the manager and, surprise, Suncheene claimed that she was the manager. We argued over semantics for 10 minutes only for my partner to step in and ask if the 7th floor room was ready now? And it had magically been inspected and ready for check in at that moment.

Once we got upstairs in our tower, we realized each floor has a small foyer that has only 2 rooms/suites on it. Otherwise, the partial oceanfront suite was amazing and beautiful. For a hotel with suites that run over 1k per night, I would have liked some better front desk staff and welcoming treatment.

We decided to vacation in Miami as we weren't ready to start international travel yet. The Ritz Bal Harbour is in north Miami Beach, so it is in a quiet neighborhood surrounded by hotels and condos. The hotel itself is very quiet and there are only two rooms per floor. We rented an ocean view suite, which includes a bedroom, sitting room, two bathrooms and a small kitchen including a microwave, fridge, stove, dishwasher. They also provide dishes and silverware. I would recommend stopping at a store and bringing your own paper towels or dish towels as these are not provided. I would also recommend bringing a few simple groceries, as there are no grocery stores within walking distance. It also had two small balconies, one off of the bedroom, and one off the sitting room, with two chairs. The restaurant and room service provided good, although somewhat limited menu. The room service staff were outstanding, friendly, prompt, very professional. Our first day we had lunch in the restaurant and the server just disappeared? We finally got tired of waiting, and decided to get up to leave and found another server in the back who got our bill for us. The hotel was kind enough to let us check in a few hours early, however our room did not look clean. There was something on the wall by the closet from the previous guests, and we reported it, but it still took three days before it was cleaned! (see photo) The only other restaurants/shops within walking distance are the Bal Harbor Shops, so unless you have a car, it is not close to other attractions. The hotel does provide bikes for rent. The beach is quiet and fairly clean of debris. We rented a luxury cabana one day by the pool area. There are 3 cabanas, and they include a private hot tub jacuzzi, hammock, shaded day bed, fruit plate, and four waters. The wait service from the beach restaurant was excellent. However, when we went to check in for the day, we asked the hostess if we could select our cabana, to which she flatly said no. She assigned us the first one which is next to the public jacuzzi, so you do get lots of kids and noise from hotel guests immediately next to you, with not as much privacy as the other two cabanas. The cabana that we did prefer, however, was never used that day! For $600/2 people, I would not recommend. Overall, even though a quiet hotel, the cost to stay here was not worth the quality or amenities.

Don’t bother laying extra for “oceanfront.” It is cinsidered the top several floors but the photo is from the other side Of the hotel for permanent residents, your “oceanfront “ more expensive room is of a room perpendicular to the ocean along where about 3/4 of the view is of a very noisy highway, if you want to stay here get “partial ocean view.” . My travel agent had called to clarify this before I booked but they didn’t explain that the rooms are. It parallel to the ocean, when I complained, they offered me a bottle of champagne as compensation and I don’t drink champagne, the hotel itself is first class, the two bedroom suites are wonderful, great staff in general, but the restaurant has quite a limited menu. Thet charge $40/day resort fee for.nothing I used, give a $100 resort fee but I find out it is not good at the spa. If you don’t mind the noise and the poor view and they limited menu, you will like it here,

Repeat Visit for Work? 👎🏽 Not without my own hotspot! And I’m not entirely sure if it will work that close to the beach. I’ll try it out and report back. Had to use iPhone as a hot spot which was also unreliable. Ended up dropping off a couple of meetings where I was presenting, and a few others where I was a contributor. I was forced to reschedule some meetings due to the crappy wifi connection which wasn't the point of this experiment at all. Spent most of the time I was supposed to be working trying to get online AND spent the all of the time (lunch and breaks between meetings) I was supposed to be enjoying the amenities trying to get online. Made working poolside much more stressful and defeated the whole purpose at a high ticket price.

Repeat Visit to Chill: 👍🏽 Definitely! It’s a great experience without the stressors of having to be plugged in. I would suggest adding some type of buzzer or an easier way to call for service. Having to depend on either being checked in on, or go out to pool area to flag them down is a bit of a bummer at $400.

Stayed for a week with my family as a beach getaway. Had very high hopes. Rooms are very nicely done and decorated. Housekeeping was excellent.

Several things in the room were broken or not functioning but I think part of this was the fact that they had just opened after being closed for two months from coronavirus. That is certainly understandable. Engineering promptly came to take care of issues.

As others have mentioned, Ocean front is not oceanfront. It is Ocean view from an angle. The hotel is angled to the side and true ocean front is reserved for those living in the Ritz residences. The website is deceiving. Not sure why this is not made clear at the time of booking and paying extra for Ocean front.

Valet parking is your only option and is $38 per day. That is reasonable.

One major concern is that virtually none of the guests wear masks nor are they told to wear a mask upon check-in or otherwise. Only staff wear masks. Given the current situation especially in Miami - I believe masks should be mandatory especially on elevators. The hotel needs to reinforce this. At the time of this writing it is predicted Florida will be the next epicenter. Marriott should take this into account.

There’s a single restaurant on the property and a single small bar/restaurant area near the pool. I think the property in general is not your typical Ritz Carlton. It is not an opulent, expansive property with gardens and an elaborate pool.

We had an average stay. We were hoping for much better given the Ritz Carlton name and the nearly $1000 per night cost.

Disappointed, the Ritz brands aren’t like they used to be.
I remember when the Ritz Carlton properties were a 5 star experience and there was no question you would be satisfied with your stay. The recent stay didn’t live up to anything I had hoped for. The pool areas were very dirty and littered with trash. The grounds weren’t very well maintained. The carpets looked as if they hadn’t been steam cleaned. My room had an extremely noisy AC that rattled in Morse code during the entire stay. The hotel staff was very kind at check in assuring me that my room would have turn down services and also be able to provide anything else I requested. When I called for those services at 10pm, 11:15 pm and again at 11::30 pm the woman at the desk said they were on the way and then another woman said she had just come on duty and that none of these services could be provided. However, she would send someone up with sheets and make an exception. I also asked for ice and a soft drink, she told me I was making the staff ‘work’ that night. I also tipped he man who came up to my room with the items promised at check in. The pool area staff were very welcoming and worked hard to serve the large groups at the pool quickly. The valet staff were also very helpful and friendly.

The experience here was mixed and simply did not meet expectations based on price point and reviews.

Pros: lovely view from the room, free upgrade to Oceanview, beach was lovely, pool was also nice, convenient to Bal Harbour Shops and easy to get an Uber to venture off property, Rich is excellent and incredibly helpful.

Cons:

Rooms need work as they are beginning to show signs of wear and tear.

Our room in the Haulover Tower was ridiculously loud and not restful. Every morning beginning around 8.30, the staff frequently banged the door across the hall from our room doing God knows what. This would go on for hours. Forget trying to sleep in or even just relax in the room in the morning. It was so horrendous. After we switched hotels, we had a much better night's sleep.

Room service was hit or miss. They could be hard to get on the phone and then they'd forget things and you had to debate if it was worthwhile to call and wait for whatever missing item. One morning, after trying to contact room service for over an hour, my pancakes arrived uncooked. So disgusting.

My sister and I are younger than their usual demographic and I believe our service by the pool (which was incredibly slow) and the pool (nonexistent) suffered accordingly. Staff needs training as we were paying guests just like everyone else entitled to the same level of service.

Also, I had to call guest services multiple times before simple requests were fulfilled.

To top it all off, one of the staff harassed me to write a nice review as I was trying to leave. I've never seen this at a luxury hotel. Ever.

I don't view this as living up to the Ritz brand (one of my favorite luxury hotels). Can't say I'd recommend or return.
