This was my 2nd visit to Cabbage Key. Such a unique SW FL experience! I stayed in the Dollhouse which I found to be clean, quiet and comfortable. Very relaxing! Dock Master Jeff got me set up with a kayak and easy to follow directions to Cayo Costa State Park, a once-in-a-lifetime experience to visit an island with unspoiled beach...

My husband and I were looking for a getaway off the beaten path. We spent 2 nights in the Tarpon Cottage. Accommodations were basic but comfortable. We truly appreciated the quietness of the surroundings. Our Hogfish dinner Friday night was delicious. Lunch on Saturday was very good. We felt special as the staff noted our anniversary when we walked in...

We had a lovely lunch on the island of Cabbage Key. We started with beers and soft drinks. 3 of us had the cold, boiled and shelled shrimp with potato salad and coleslaw. It was delicious. The shrimp was firm and chilled and the sides were very tasty. One person ordered the shrimp salad sandwich with the same sides. The...

Our kitchen staff was simply delighted to hear you enjoyed your meals with us! We hope to see you again soon, maybe to try our Cheeseburgers in Paradise, or a slice of our Caramel Turtle Fudge Ice Cream Pie!

We took Island Girl to Cabbage Key. We spent the night in the Dollhouse Cottage. I hesitated writing this review because I really don't want anybody to know how GREAT this place is. Lunch, cheeseburger was tremendous. Dinner, hog fish, really blew me away. The afternoon sitting on our private dock reading and watching the world go by breathtaking. The...

Myself and Two of my buddies set off kayaking and paddle boarding from bird key. We took an 7-8 mile trip around beautiful islands, we saw a little hammerhead shark and an osprey, by the time we arrived we were ready for a cheeseburger in paradise, we were not disappointed. The staff was great the food delicious and the drinks...

In our wonderful family tradition, my siblings and our families visited Cabbage Key during our family reunion on Little Gasparilla Island. Jeff, the dock master, and Rebecca, our server took great care of us. They and the burgers get five stars, as well as the ambiance of this family favorite restaurant since 1972!

This place is wonderful and well worth the trip, especially if you have your own boat. Everyone is so pleasant and helpful the food is great and the rooms are like you have stepped back in time to old florida. We arrived just after lunch and there were a lot of people finishing up and departing, then by the evening...

Our dock master works very hard, and always appreciates when someone has a kind word to share. Our evening atmosphere is very quiet and relaxed, as compared to our lunch time. We’re so glad you got to see both sides of Cabbage Key! Come back again for our nightly Chef’s Special or a Fresh Catch of the Day for dinner!

Had lunch here during our cruise to Canbage Key. Menu looked nice but all three of us had the cheeseburger. Just had to since rumor has it tat Jimmy Buffett got the idea for his song while on Cabbage Key. Excellent choice. Neat little restaurant too. We’re all glad to hear you enjoyed our Cheeseburgers in Paradise! Jimmy Buffet did dedicate a performance of that particular hit to some of our staff, after he dined with us for lunch! Our walls and ceilings hold around $70,000 at any given time, and every dollar that falls is donated to various local charities. We’re glad you stopped by!

We ate lunch twice here and just loved it! The view is spectacular and is great entertainment for boat watching! The burgers and drinks are great but the best part was our server, Megan! After the second time we felt like old friends! A must place to go!

Megan was tickled pink over your kind words. Come back soon and try our hearty Reuben sandwiches. They pair nicely with a margarita, or two!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Cabbage Key is a 100 acre island located five miles off of Pine Island, FL in the Pine Island Sound. The Inn, built in the 1940's by the family of Mary Roberts Rinehart, now houses our famous Restaurant & Dollar Bill Bar and six guest rooms. The rooms in the Inn are all different with old Florida charm - they do not have TVs, phones, or refrigerators. We have seven cottages on the island, ranging from a 1 bedroom/1 bath cottage to 3 bedroom/3 bath waterfront units. All cottages have refrigerators, televisions (no cable) and coffee makers, some units have full kitchens. Our restaurant is open seven days a week and serves breakfast, lunch & dinner. If you want to relax on a beach...we do not have one here. But, Cayo Costa is a close kayak or boat ride away. This is a great retreat to discover "Old Florida", relax with a book, fish from our docks & watch the boats go by. ... more   less
