We went for New Years Eve and ate off the set menu. It was a super menu with lovely choices for meat eaters and veggies. Our children enjoyed the children's menu much better than eating off a set menu. The food was superb. I recommend the cauliflower cheese soup - the best soup I have had. The fillet steaks were...

Thank you very much for taking the time to write your lovely review. I'm sorry you found the bubble and squeak a little overwhelming. Our chef does like to ensure everyone is well fed! I'm so glad you and your party had an enjoyable evening. Have a great year.

Called in for Sunday lunch and hadn't booked a table but we were given one by the warm fire. The bar has a Lakeland character with flag flooring and also a had a real Christmas tree which gave off a lovely pine smell. The 2 course Christmas lunch special was just what we needed on a cold day and it...

We were visiting my dad's at nearby Newby Bridge and were looking for somewhere for lunch .my dad mentioned he'd been to the Hare and Hounds before so we thought we'd try it. On arrival we were asked if we'd booked which we hadn't but they managed to fit us in. We all chose the 2 course Sunday lunch which...

I've been meaning to write this since our 4 day stay a coupe of summers ago. This pub caught my eye as a quintessential small village pub/inn and a great jumping off point to the Lake District. Our rooms were on the top floor, they were well appointed with a lovely large bathroom, separate tub & shower. The home baked...

Friendly staff, spotless room and great food, locally sourced, in a peaceful hamlet ideally located for exploring the southern Lake District. Breakfast is served 9-10am, which may be a little late for some - but worth waiting for! We had our evening meal there on the first night, and immediately re-booked for the remainder of our three-night stay. A great...

There can be a worry that when you return to an establishment that is truly excellent that the high standards might slip; no danger of that here at the Hare and Hounds. The food continues to be exceptional, the welcome friendly and the pint of Hare of the Dog slips down a treat. This time, as a family, we had...

Whilst we stayed nearby we ate here one evening and it was excellent with a wide menu and great individually prepared food. Plenty of nice local beers and a good wine list to wash it down. Special starters and yummy puddings create a very good menu. Highly recommended

My husband and I have just had a two-night stay at the Hare & Hounds. Bowland Bridge is in a beautiful unspoilt part of the Lake District. There is a nice atmosphere of a traditional pub as we walked through the door. We were shown to room 5 and were well impressed with our room and huge bathroom, which were...
