The location is extremely close to the gulf which is amazing. Breakfast was included in the meal and it was good, I ordered the french toast 3 days in a row. There are no TVs in any of the rooms and sound travels very easily between rooms. There is a giant cushioned swing on the upstairs deck that was relaxing to...

Try the Heart of Palm salad! The salad was originated at this restaurant and they advertise it is fixed using the original recipe. We are in the bar area, but we're able to order off either the bar or the restaurant menus. They had a small band providing entertainment the night we were there.

If you like historic hotels this is the stop for you. There was someone waiting at the desk for my arrival and check in was a breeze. The rooms are all upstairs. I reserved room #33 because you can go directly on the veranda from it. Room was small but that was no issue with me, and very clean as...

We were in room 23. It has a claw bathtub with shower curtain inside the room (not in a separate room). The toilet area is very small and does have a privacy door. The wrap around balcony was nice. The breakfast (included) was not a buffet. It was table service. Staff was helpful, courteous and Friendly.

Didn't stay in the hotel but did have dinner in the tiny bar. This is a funky little place with lots of charm. I had the potato soup which was really tasty so much so I had two cups. Their version of shrimp and grits is unique to say the least but it was very good although it was a...

I can't say enough about this historic hotel and restaurant. There are 10 rooms, each decorated with period pieces and art and all with a private bathroom. Two rooms have their private bathrooms across the hall, but they even supply robes for slipping back and forth. They are said to have resident ghosts, but, sadly we did encounter any. The...

Cedar Key is a perfect example of Florida's unspoilt Nature Coast and The Island Hotel, built in 1859 is the best place to stay on the island. The wrap around porch has a swing seat, rocking chairs, armchairs and loungers, and you can relax in comfort there, or inside the hotel where there are comfortable lounges on both levels.

I can't comment on the rooms but the restaurant is good. The back bar is tiny, has live music on Wednesdays, and has great burgers. We had dinner in the main hotel restaurant and the food was wonderful. The shrimp and scallops with artichoke sauce was very delicious! But the key lime pie - the best ANYWHERE.

If you want a sterile chain hotel this is not for you. If you like something a little offbeat this is for you. Sure the floors creak and sometimes slope the bathrooms are a compromise but the experience is great. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. You can park right outside the door at no cost and walk...

Island Hotel is old and real and charming in the same way that Cedar Key represents the "old real charming " Florida. It has its own character. When you walk in you see a grand piano off to your right. A stuffed manatee, the gift, supposedly, of Jimmy Buffet sits on the piano bench. (Andy was happy enough for me...
