Haven't stayed iin this great hotel since our wedding night in 2016 when we rented their fabulous penthouse suite, and we won't stay away that long again! We checked in on July 4th, and were greeted by the very friendly and accommodating manager, Miss Sam Cantrell. She had the perfect room for us on the first floor - nice private patio with table, chairs and a lounger, ideal viewing of the fireworks! Our room was delilghtful, sliding glass doors to the watefront. My wife & I critique the two most important thing to us, regardless of price: how comfortable is the bed (and pillows!), and how good is the A/C. High marks all around...and we're critical! Great beach location, private if you like yet easy to get to all the great activities. Friendly staff all around. This is an older, really neat (only) four-story building that has been kept up nicely - we won't stay away so long again!

Hotel's Favourite
We booked the Penthouse suite plus 2 additional regular suites for our family's June 2022 2 week stay. SAM went out of her way to ensure a wonderful visit for us. We have loved our family's visits to The Chart House for over 20 years. Clean suites, clean pool, super staff, great views with leaping dolphins and a manatee or two highly recommend this historic hotel. Located next to the Clearwater Beach Yacht Club we watched a fabulous holiday decorated Boat Parade last December there. Over 30 decorated boats with holiday lights, Santa's and music. So much fun! Close to all the beach action and great food without all the hassles of other hotels in the area. MOST HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE CHART HOUSE.

I normally don't write about bad reviews and the only reason I am writing this one is so that someone doesn't have the same experience we did. we had looked forward to staying at the chart House ever since making the reservation. the reviews seemed pretty good. long story made short, we got there and it was nothing like what we thought it would be and the room smelled of smoke being covered up by deodorizer so badly that we couldn't stay the night. we stayed long enough so that I could book another room at the fairfield. I don't know if we just expected too much or not but one thing the refrigerator in the kitchenette had so much rust on it it was obvious that it's been sitting on somebody's porch before it made its way into the room. I had asked for a City view away from the elevators on an upper floor and I got a ground floor right outside the reception area with a view of a concrete wall and a door that said boiler room. it was just so disappointing I don't want somebody else to have that experience as well.

Amazing place! Ideal for families, near to the beach, a breathtaking view and the people working there are very kind and helpful. The only improvement they can do is to use less plastics. Otherwise its a very great place, if we come back to Clearwater one day, we will for sure stay there again ;)

My wife and I stayed a few days before the New Year. It was an older building right on the water next to a marina with nice expensive boats. Very nice views, the first night in room 201 no TV and the internet kept dropping. The cable was not any cable like I have ever seen before. The clerk came to our room to show us how the TV worked and she really did not know how it worked. It doesn’t take a Rocket Scientist to operate a TV. I should have known something when they actually gave us a physical key to get into the room. Channels I never heard of and it kept black screening. The clerk had left early and closed the office, I was really upset plus I paid for an additional night after we got the channels working and before I knew anything about the Wi-Fi and cable. Oh, almost forgot the front desk closes at 5pm daily and that is when all the bad things stopped working. My wife went down the next morning and spoke to the clerk and they gave us another room 302. The TV came up with better channels than below so I thought it was okay. The Restaurants in the area are great Frenchy's restaurant OMG. Got back at night turned on the TV no channels I ever heard of, so I tried putting the Spectrum TV app but the internet kept dropping and it would not except my password. Long story short I ended up using my iPhone as a personal hot spot in order for the TV to stay on. Someone had put the Plex app on the TV and I was able to see the news for South Florida, DC, Boston and NY, everywhere except Tampa or Central Florida. Oh, I ran all my data minutes on my phone having to pay $15 per 1 Gig and I used 22 GB, you do the math. I WOULD NOT RECCOMEND THIS HOTEL FOR ANYONE. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. "You get what you pay for" statement is true.

Place is safe , stuff very polite. little overpriced , we stayed 4 days and our room was never clean, garbage was never removed, towels were never replaced, coffee maker was broken and old style and was no coffee at all. general... the location is great, close to everything, close to the beach, shops, very convenient location, only the lack of service was shocking, on last day during checkout we learned that for towels and coffee we had to come to the lobby. despite this I do recommend this hotel because of the location

Stayed at the Charthouse for 4 nights in May. While it was not completely awful, there were definitely more bad points than good. First the positive- Hotel is located on the water next to a marina. Lots of big, beautiful boats to admire from your balcony. The balcony is another pro. While not particularly private it was a good size with a nice view. We also liked the location. It was a reasonable walk to some good restaurants and a very easy 5 minute drive to a great beach. We never had trouble finding a parking space even though the lot is small. The lady who checked us in was very pleasant. Now for the negatives- Hotel is very worn and rundown. This is not to be confused with quaint and charming. Specifically, the bathroom was infested with ants, bed was the most uncomfortable I have ever experienced, dust and dirt everywhere, PAPER thin walls which enabled us to hear a couple check in next to us at midnight and we then heard them chatting til 3 am, dark and dismal lobby and hallways, tiny pool choked with leaves and located right on the road, Wi-Fi did not work, tv reception was akin to a 70s TV with bunny ears and finally, a toilet that filled with hot water after it flushed. Also, maybe we caught them on an off weekend but except for the lady who checked us in - Maria perhaps?- we found the staff to be either disinterested or disingenuous. There are too many other places to stay in the area. Don’t be fooled by the inexpensive rates- they are that way for a reason. Do yourself a favor and spend a bit more in a nicer place

Our room 301 at first seemed comfortable with a lovely view over the marina, providing good value for money. However, some seemingly long term maintenance issues changed our opinion. These included toilet problems, poor TV reception, missing bath plug, difficulty with security lock, broken fan chain. Most were eventually dealt with over our 6 night stay, but poor TV reception throughout the hotel was due to lack of cable boxes and the bath plug never did materialise despite promises. Disappointing....

I was a bit worried on reading some reviews that the place was old and needed updating. To some extent this may be true but it’s more than made up for in orther things. The building is located in a quiet , residential area of Clearwater a good 20 mins wall to the town or a $6 Uber. Plenty of parking that’s usually in Clearwater and backs right on tow the dock. Our rooms were massive and spotless clean, with everything you could possibly need But best of all was the staff who could nt do enough for you

We arrived to our room and walked out immediately due to the overwhelming mildew smell. We were told it rained the night before and it was a "natural smell". Um, no. The room and hotel overall is very outdated, dirty and dismal. There is no one on site past 5:00 pm if any need arises. The air conditioning unit is SO OLD it sounds like a jet plane cycling on and off with a loud water gurgling sound. The worst part of this nightmare of an experience was the BED. It was so uncomfortable it felt like sleeping on a box spring. After no sleep woke to a huge cockroach outside our door.
