Sandpearl Resort is celebrated for its pristine cleanliness and modern, beautifully updated rooms, which many travelers find to be well-appointed despite occasional discomfort and maintenance issues. Its prime location garners consistent praise for easy beach access and nearby attractions. While guests commend the luxurious amenities and the attentive service, some note service inconsistencies and question the value, citing additional charges for beach amenities that seem steep relative to the overall experience.

Everything you could want in a hotel is found at the Sandpearl! The location is perfect - steps away from the beach with ample chairs dedicated for Sandpearl guests. It’s also at a great spot on Mandalay Avenue if you want to visit the local shops, restaurants, and marinas. The pool at the Sandpearl is beautiful, and the casual bar/restaurant that serves the pool and beach (Tate’s) is great! The in-room dining menu is also extensive.

I also want to note that the staff at the Sandpearl are amazing. Everyone at the front desk was lovely, and so were the valet folks, the wonderful housekeeping staff, and the food service staff (including those who assisted with our conference.)

I was in Room 843, and it was glorious with a full kitchen, a washer and dryer, two balconies, and a soaking tub. This was an unexpected upgrade and so appreciated! I think all of the rooms might have balconies, though, and I can’t imagine there’s a bad view to be had anywhere!

Nothing negative to say. If you choose the Sandpearl, you won’t be disappointed!

Absolutely fantastic resort on Clearwater Beach - away from the crowded area of the beach. GREAT customer service throughout. Highly recommend. Also recommend booking directly with the resort and not via VRBO (the top two floors are privately owned). The price might be a bit cheaper, but hotel staff was not permitted to enter our unit (per owners) to exchange towels, take out trash, etc., on a daily basis.

Not being into hotel management, my initial reaction is that the resort is over-staffed. I later realized that this was all meant to accomplish one thing: to provide guests with a memorable experience. For example – notwithstanding that we stayed during the Memorial Day weekend – there were no long lines at check-in, the staff was courteous and friendly, cabanas were available for a reasonable price (which included a small ref and safe), a staff member escorted us to the cabana location, their free shuttle service was so convenient, esp. since there were 9 of us, housekeeping is usually overlooked – but not at this resort.

Today we went to the sandpearl to use the beach, have lunch and drinks. We are staying at their sister company, the opal sands, and the beach at our hotel is not open due to beach and sand cleanup from the hurricane. We went to the sandpearl and rented beach chairs, ate lunch and drinks and were relaxing on the beach when we were asked to leave because we were not staying at that hotel. We explained the circumstances with our beach and since they were sister properties we thought we could use the beach. I understand that the pool is off limits, but we spent over $150 on chairs and food service and they told us it was too bad for us that our beach was closed. This is a terrible way to treat a guest and especially when the hotel was at low capacity and the beach had over 90% of the chairs empty! This is terrible customer care!

Sandpearl is beautiful and has great views and services, but the one thing that makes me not want to come back is the lack of pool chair availability. At 7-8 am, guests put a towel on their chair and walk away and just come back every hour to show activity and keep their spot. At 9 am the chairs are 95% reserved so if you want a chair you're not going to get it. You pay $600/night to not be able to get a chair and it's ridiculous. There are 6 visible people at 9am yet all chairs reserved. There needs to be a better system... The current system isn't working and it's not right with the money we're paying. For this reason alone, it's not worth it.

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review. Regarding the chair availability at the pool, you are correct. It can be tough during peak season and holidays. We have a system in place where we put markers on chairs and note the time that the chair was observed empty. If noone is there for one hour we clear that chairs and put the items in storage to be claimed at a later time. While it is not a perfect plan, it is the best option that we have found to manage the situation. We certainly hope that you come and visit us again. Regards, Eric Waltz General Manager

This is my third and last time at this place. I travel for business and when in Tampa pay the upgrade to stay here for the view. It's not worth it anymore. The place is filthy in bad need of a paint job and a deep clean. To the general manager, please walk the place instead of responding to reviews. The hot tub by Tate's Grille is a haven for smokers and vapers and when the rough security guy is told of it, he does nothing. I watched and smelled this all weekend. Maybe he should pay attention to complaints instead of waking people up to check their wristbands which are clearly visible. This is a non smoking resort, isn't it? You have the prime spot on the beach and that is why you charge exorbitant fees, so do your job and make sure the place is clean and taken care of so the prices people pay are worth it.

Dear Guest, Thank you for the review. I can assure you that I walk the property extensively in addition to responding to reviews. We spend considerable time and energy keeping up with the painting and maintenance of the property. If you noticed particular areas that need attention, please let me know and we will address them. Regarding the smoking around the pool, you are 100% right. This is a not smoking property and no one should be permitted to smoke around the pool. I will reinforce this with the pool team. Wonderful resort! Clean, Beautiful, and the Staff is so accommodating! The only critique I would have is about the beach loungers and umbrellas. First off, for the price you pay per night, the beach umbrellas should be included and you should not be charged extra to use them. Secondly, the resort should move their beach chairs and beach loungers and umbrellas closer to the shoreline with the garbage containers located BEHIND the loungers. The way they have them now, the garbage cans are located in front of the loungers and are obstructing the ocean view and shoreline! Who wants to look at garbage cans when you are trying to enjoy the beautiful ocean view? Other than that one critique, everything was so perfect! We would love to visit again and are happy to give this resort five stars!

The service at the hotel was great…much better than this post-Covid environment where no one seems to care anymore. From text messages prior to arrival, friendly welcome from the entire staff, and overall responsive to inquiries, this place truly embodied what one would think a high-rated resort should be.

The hotel itself was pristine. The pool was beautiful and had a mix of family and couples visiting. The beach was well manicured with chairs readily available included in your resort fee. Umbrellas were available for a cost.

My one complaint would be the price of food and drinks…room service for a small dessert came at a pretty hefty price. There are plenty of restaurants and bars all around the hotel, this was just for the convenience of it, having something sweet upon arrival.

A special shout out to Valentina, who was extremely welcoming to us. She was pleasant to talk to and always smiling.

We started our 1st annual girls trip in Clearwater at the Sandpearl Resort. Service was top notch. Everyone on staff truly makes you feel like you’re their priority. The rooms were spacious enough for 2 women, and well appointed (- a microwave) centrally located to some of the absolute best restaurants on the strand. The on site restaurant is so so good and the breakfast buffet with a view is recommended. There’s also a bar/grill on the grounds but I found it to be overpriced for the taste/portions served; however they do serve you on the sand. Definitely rent the umbrellas but understand they are first come first served. Overall, this resort gives you the feeling of being a VIP and that’s always nice when traveling. Their shining star really is the staff, from the bellmen to housekeeping. Will definitely return during our girls trips

Been comming to this resort for years. Prices going up every year but not the level of comfort of OPAL resorts are known for.
Bar Staff at the pool are not friendly and had the nerve to charge my 7 year old daughter $1 for a cup of ice. Then suggested that she go upstairs for free ice. She was very upset.
Staff started removing towels and personal belonging from the pool chairs left unattended if 1hr passes.
I had a supervisor watching us poolside as I administer orange juice to my diabetic daughter. No outside beverages allowed. It made us very uncomfortable.
Security constantly checking wrist bands. Made us feel like we were in a controlled compound.
My daughter got stomach flu from eating in the restaurant.
I will not be returning to this hotel.
Keep in mind I am VIP status with these resorts and travel throughout Florida visiting them, but For $900 a night the level of service at this resort is sub-par and does not reflect what OPAL resorts represents.
Suggest firing all upper level management and rehire fresh blood.
When in Clearwater beach visit the other hotels.
Cheaper priced

Dear Guest, Thank you for the review as well as they repeat business over the years. As you know, space availability around the pool is tough at times so we have a security guard who makes sure that all guests at the pool are resort guests as outside guests are not permitted. If you have a wristband however you should be left alone by the security guard. We certainly should not be charging for a cup of ice as well. If you would like to speak personally about this interaction, please contact me at the resort so I can review your folio and look into that charge. Regards, Eric Waltz General Manager
