Detailed Reviews
The check in process was made easy thanks to a friendly staff member. The hotel was well maintained and the location was convenient for my flight in and out of Tampa’s airport.
There are plenty of restaurants close by for a bite to eat. The main entrance is easy to access and side entrances made accessing rooms simple.

I have stayed here several times, and the hotel receptionists even recognised me and acknowledged me without prompt, it was like returning home.
I always got given the room requests, i.e the location , higher floors, with shower and the direction it faced etc.
It has a nice pool and good gym. I used the pool daily and nightly, I really enjoyed the sunbathing as the pool area was always clean with fresh towels always available.
The housekeeping did a very good job of maintaining the area and the rooms very clean and refreshed. That is why I kept going back here, and will definitely do so again.

Overall a really great hotel. Modern, new, and very clean. The only thing I didn’t like was that there is no complimentary breakfast available. It would’ve been nice to go down and grab a quick bite to eat before heading out to the beach. The front desk staff was also very nice. Our room was pretty great and bigger than I had anticipated. We booked a partial water view but honestly I felt that we had a full water view of the marina. The only complaint about the room was the air conditioning. It seemed that no matter what we tried, the room would get hotter overnight. The vents also weren’t positioned to blow on the bed, so I think that didn’t help either. It felt very cold during the day and I don’t know why that didn’t carry on into the night.
It was nice having a pool and hot tub there as well. Those both stay open until late a night so you can always enjoy a quick dip after dinner. However one day the pool was closed for us due to a gas line break.
My only other thing is that they aren’t doing housekeeping currently with the pandemic. So if you need new towels or anything, you have to go to the front desk to get them. So just a little inconvenient and not able to have your room cleaned daily.
Overall, I would definitely book here again!

I was excited to stay at Courtyard St. Petersburg after some less desirable hotel experiences, and walking into this location felt like a breath of fresh air. We stayed for a week, and at first, everything seemed promising. The hotel is beautifully designed and clean, with a smart room layout and a modern shower (seriously, who still uses bathtubs in hotels?). As a housekeeper myself, I notice details, and while the cleaning wasn’t spotless, it was decent enough. Soundproofing, however, is a major issue—you can hear just about everything from your neighbors, even normal conversations and TV at moderate volumes. On the plus side, parking was very convenient, with an open lot that made things easy.
The biggest downside of this hotel was the staff. The front desk experience started off on the wrong foot. The young woman who checked us in was impatient and unwelcoming. When I asked about complimentary waters (which might not even be policy at this location), her tone made it feel like I’d asked for something outrageous. That interaction set the tone, but I was willing to overlook it—until my second issue with the staff made it clear that poor service might be a bigger problem here.
During our stay, we didn’t want daily housekeeping, but after a few days, we needed a refresh. At 9 a.m., I specifically called to request service, made sure the “Do Not Disturb” sign was off, and even prepped the room by clearing out towels and leaving a tip. I was assured that housekeeping would take care of it. When we returned in the early evening, the room was still dirty. I called back, only to be met with an unapologetic response and a lame excuse that the housekeepers were in a rush and saw the DND sign (which wasn’t true—it had been removed at 9 a.m.). Instead of apologizing or resolving the issue, they just offered to bring towels, which felt dismissive and disappointing.
The hotel WiFi is also terrible and not great for getting work done.
Courtyard claims to be the official hotel of the NFL, but this experience didn’t live up to that standard. While the property itself is nice and has potential, the staff’s lack of professionalism and attention to detail really soured the experience. I would consider giving this location another shot, but only if the staff receives better training and adopts a more hospitable approach to guests.

Response from Mike Cote, General Manager at Courtyard St. Petersburg Clearwater

Dear Valued Guest, Thank you for sharing your experience on your recent visit to our hotel. I am very sorry to hear that we did not provide you the experience you come to expect from Marriott. I appreciate your candid feedback around your visit and I can assure you I will challenge our team to provide a better experience. I am glad you found the hotel itself to be nice with good potential. However, staff experience often sets the tone for best in class vs a standard experience and we fell well short of best in class. I hope you will give us another opportunity to earn back your loyalty on a future visit to Clearwater. Kind Regards, Mike Cote

PROS: The location of this hotel is decent and the agents were pleasant at check-in. There’s a Starbucks on location although I can’t speak to the service or quality of food/beverages because I didn’t go there. Hotel appears clean and my room was nice, clean and walked directly out to the pool area. CONS: There are no robes in the room. There is no tabletop mirror or one of those magnifying mirrors attached to the wall. And the room doesn’t get and stay cold enough (I like to sleep in an icebox). There also isn’t a safe in the room. I think this is the first Marriott I’ve stayed where not at least one of those items were in the room. TIPS: if you drink one of those $5 bottles of water in the room, stop at the drug store down the street while you’re out and about and replace the bottle - the same brand but it costs only $2. Also, if you’re on the ground level, be sure to keep your patio doors shut or you’ll be sleeping with those little iguana or gecko things.

We recently booked a room at this property, but due to airline delays we arrived at 3:00 A.M., and discovered they had given our room away. The night attendant apologized, but did nothing to help, other than to tell us where other hotels were in the area. Needless to say, we were very upset. The next morning, we called the Asst. GM(Kelly Grzan) who was already aware of the situation, and had discussed it with her staff at the morning meeting. She was sincerely apologetic, and had already gone into the system, and credited the points we had used for our stay, and offered us a free night. In addition, she gave us two free breakfasts. Because we loved the facility so much, we stayed there that night, and used our points the night before our flight back out. Now, you can only imagine how stressed we were having to find another hotel at 4:00 in the morning, but were ulimately made to feel appreciated by the hotel's response. As the saying goes, "Everyone is going to have problems! It's how they resolve them that matters!" In this case, I really need to recognize Kelly, and her entire team. We'll stay at this hotel again on our next rip to the area!

My husband and I stayed here the weekend before Valentine’s Day. We had a meeting in the area and decided to make a weekend out of it. The hotel has been recently renovated and it is very nice. The outside areas are very pretty. There is a grill and seating area for guests to use as well as a fire pit. The rooms were clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. There is a Starbucks in the lobby cafe. The restaurant is open for dinner with a full bar. We did not eat any meals at the hotel. We used the coffee in the room in the mornings and the desk staff was kind enough to provide additional supplies. There are several restaurants in the area and it was easy to get to the beaches. Would definitely stay here again when in the area.

We only stayed one night, but it was great. Registration was fast, the room was clean and comfortable, and the room had a quality feel. I especially liked the little touches, like the tea-tree oil shampoo. The pool was nice, surrounded by the hotel and with a nice view of the stars. Breakfast was at a little café-type area that felt more like a coffee shop than a typical hotel breakfast. I was especially thankful for the woman working the morning we were there, as she was so kind and took good care of us. If I ever am in the area again, I'll certainly want to stay at this hotel.

I have stayed at this property three times so far, for about a week each stay, and have found the hotel to be well-situated, very clean, updated and comfortable. I usually stay in Marriott properties over 100 nights per year and this one is a favorite.
Jason at the front desk routinely goes out of his way to ensure that everything is great with the stay.

We stayed this weekend for a business seminar and were very happy with our accommodations. We had requested a high floor with early check-in, double beds and extra pillows, all of which were ready when we arrived on Thursday morning. We had big plans every night but ended up just staying at the Bistro for dinner and drinks. Jason and Margaret were awesome and maintained their friendly demeanor despite how rudely the college softball parents were treating them (and no it isn't ok for you to go behind the bar to try and get your drink faster and it isn't ok not to tip!) We have plans to come back to Clearwater in the very near future and will definitely stay here again.

Hi. We drove, had rental car. You have to drive to the beaches so taxi would get costly. It's 25 minutes away, I assume you can get taxi at airport, don't know the cost. It takes about 25 minutes in different directions to go to different beaches, so again, car rental might be best. Have fun!
I use Uber there frequently and generally the wait is 7-12 minutes.
