Nestled close to the beach with a vibrant nightlife and dining scene at its doorstep, the Opal Grand Resort and Spa is celebrated for its cleanliness and inviting boho-beach atmosphere. While the renovated amenities, including an exceptional pool and spa, draw praise, some guests feel the experience doesn't justify the high costs, pointing to overpriced features and crowded spaces. The staff's warm and professional service is acknowledged, even as service inconsistencies occasionally surface. Room experiences vary, with comfort and cleanliness applauded, but noise and size sometimes detracting from guest satisfaction.

We just returned from our second stay at the Opal Grand in the last few months. The first time it was our entire family of 12 people (5 rooms) bracket and the second time was just my wife and myself. Each time the hotel provided us with a wonderful experience. The food, accommodations, staff and service were great and we couldn’t have felt more at home. Both times the concierge there, Patricia Ozburn was extremely helpful and made us feel very welcome. She is a true professional, whose knowledge and service added immensely to our hotel stay. It’s been a pleasure staying at the Opal Grand and one of the reasons we return is Patricia. All in all we had a great holiday.Harry Kichler

This is by far one of the nicest places we’ve stayed. We’ve stayed at a boutique hotel here in Delray which was lovely. Nonetheless, Opal is by comparison, worth the higher price, based on several factors. 1) being right across from the beach, eliminated the need to pay for the beach chair and umbrella company that monopolizes southern Fla beaches or lugging beach chairs from one block away. 2) there is bottled and fresh drinking water everywhere in the facility. We bought a case of bottles and as it turned out, didn’t need to. 3) The facility doesn’t allow folks to grab and hold chairs at the pool indefinitely. If folks are gone more than an hour or so, and there is a need for seating, the attendants will see to it. They will move stuff and hold it aside until claimed 4) views are gorgeous. We stayed on North side which is where most pool view rooms are located. If you’re on floor 3-5, in a pool view room, you’re most likely going to get an ocean view also.
The restaurants on the premises are a good. I believe it’s one central kitchen for the pool side Cascades; Monkey Bar which serves a sit down breakfast, and sandwiches; and Drift which has an evening menu along with the sandwich and apps menu. There is also a Starbucks like BeachMarket for grab and go coffee and breakfast sandwiches and snacks. HINT to coffee lovers. I’m not a fan of Starbucks coffee. When we had breakfast at Monkey Bar, I commented on how much better their coffee was. The waitress noted that they DID, in fact, have a different coffee supplier than the BeachMarket. She noted that she compared theirs to Dunkin Donuts while the Beach Market was like Starbucks. (Wish I learned this earlier in our stay). There are Nespresso machines in the room, again not my favorite but a nice touch. Not sure if it’s always available, but when we booked direct through the Opal website, there was an option to purchase $50 worth of food and drink credits for $40. So I bought $$150 for $120. Free money. Well worth it if you plan to be by the pool much. Finally plan to be by the pool between 1:30 and 2:00 daily for a free ice cream treat. Just another of the pleasant extras provided! We loved it here.

The "good".... location is good- across from the beach, walkable to several local eateries. We stayed in what appeared to be a more newly renovated king room on the 5th floor, ocean view. Room was spotless. Bed was comfortable, water bottles provided with excellent housekeeping services, including turn down service.

The "not great"...
*Elevators super slow. (Front desk forgot to tell us that the room key is needed to activate the elevator to go up. Thank goodness for some kind guests who let us know)
*Bathrooms have NO HOOKS for towels or toiletry bags and an awkward sideways faucet on the sink. (ugh and a barn door- looking forward to the time when this trend is out!) Also, water pressure is on the VERY light side.
*The outdoor space leading out from the room is not really usable if your shoe size is larger than 9. The furniture on this space is sideways to make it fit and you would have to remove one chair and tiny table(or climb over it precariously) if another person were to join you but it would be tight- you're not going to be enjoying a cup of coffee during sunrise out there!! The view is a bit obstructed by the layout of the rooms next to our unit. Sadly we found it to be poorly planned.
*The doors to the room are heavy and due to the differential pressure from outside and inside, they slam quite loudly. You will most likely hear your neighbor guests going in and out frequently.
*Currently there is construction going on next to the pool which will be a wonderful addition when it's done, but a bit noisy when the trucks are moving. It did get very
crowded at the main pool, so plan wisely.

The "really good"-
Beautiful lobby.
Most of the staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful, housekeeping responded promptly when both our iron and blow dryer were not working. Bartenders were attentive, staff in the "market" were mostly helpful(some of them let you know that if you buy coffee in the a.m. you can get free refills all day)
Spa was wonderful!!! Pedicures and massages were some of the best we've had!!
Valet service was easy and there are plenty of other choices for transportation(uber, lyft, freebie rides)

All in all, we had a good stay. Glad to see there are improvements coming and hoping this resort continues their quest for excellence for their guests.

We booked 6 rooms for my moms 80th birthday and the hotel was great - however they have a serious oigeon problem by the pool and the outdoor bar. We noticed the pigeon nests in the side of the building. They were on our balcony too. You can’t eat outside they come on the tables and dive bomb your food. My daughter was so freaked out we couldn’t enjoy the pool much. We reported it to management and we got the shove off of “sorry we will tell our engineers”. We live local and enjoy several outdoor staycations for weekends as well as outdoor restaurants and they do not have this issue. Paying these rates this hotel should ensure their guests don’t have to deal with dirty birds on their tables and under their pool chairs. It’s dirty and extremely bothersome. We spoke to other guests who also shared they felt the same way. Unfortunately for us we won’t stay here again because of this.

Thank you for your review. We are all so disappointed that your stay fell short of expectations. As much as we do try to manage & rectify this situation, when guests continue to feed the birds, it keeps them coming back and makes it extremely challenging for the staff. We appreciate you choosing the Opal Grand for your special celebration and do hope that you choose to return in the future!

The hotel is solidly average. It's clean, though the room smelled like mildew, but the housekeeping crew is often irritable if you need to walk through the hall while they're cleaning the floor and the housekeepers will have you hold the elevator for them for quite a while so they can move up or down a floor. balcony is so tiny that it's useless and the ocean view is more of a courtyard view; I would not pay more for that. The bed is very firm and there should be a blanket in the closet (none on the bed.) The TV is supposed to be able to work with casting but would not despite multiple efforts with different devices. There is a nespresso, and two people will need to make do with one sugar/creamer kit though they leave you 4 caffeinated and 2 decaf pods. The front desk staff and Monkey Bar staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The coffee bar doesn't open until 630a and then drip coffee is a complete rip off at $5. if you try to order certain things you are out of luck and they will tell you that the menu needs to be updated. it was a daily disappointment. The gym is small and equipped for men, but you can grab bottled water there. There are a couple sets of 10 pound weights and that's it. The machines start at heavier weight levels so doing a shoulder workout is challenging. You can walk or run outside the property for miles. The pool bar has good food but the lounges and umbrellas are dated and unattractive at both pools. They need to add some planters or something, it's stark. The live music Sunday was great. The wooden top of one just popped off and flew through the air one day. The beach across the street is covered in seaweed. The key is a bracelet which is nice when you're poolside, but not so nice with your dinner clothing. Drift is a beautiful restaurant. Monkey Bar food is what you'd expect from a hotel buffet. (The restaurant, Luna Rosa, down the block is much tastier.) Never saw a manager wandering around. The gift shop is great if you like Lilly Pulitzer and if you don't, go down the street.

The Pros: very friendly and helpful staff from front desk to concierge to housekeeping.
Excellent restaurants and the pool was great. The location of the hotel was perfect. Right across the street was the beach & Atlantic Ave was walking distance for all of the shops and a great variety of dining. The Opal grand is a great family resort or so it seemed.
I chose this resort because of the location in Delray Beach and because I’d previously stayed at an Opal resort in key west (The Capitana) and really enjoyed the attention to the guest experience.
The cons:
If you are a light sleeper then may I suggest you not stay in any of the rooms south facing. I requested a spot in the hotel that was quieter regardless of the view, and was first put in room # 329 (south tower) my Juliette balcony opened to the soon to be rooftop bar which is currently under construction (7 days a week from 730am til 5 or 6pm) I requested to be moved as this was certainly not going to be a relaxing location. The front desk moved me up two floors but still over the construction (no quieter) but the view was better.
Stayed one more night their room #532.
South facing tower makes you endure constant construction and the loud intersection of Atlantic Avenue. Not to mention everyone staying in that tower was complaining about the two elevators one of which barely worked.
Asked to be moved somewhere else in the resort day three and was finally in a location (of the resort) where I could start to enjoy the rest of my stay. This was in the north tower of the resort overlooking the pool and part of the ocean. This side of the resort was clearly newer and nicer.
Room #369
Way better setup and night & day in regards to quieter.
The downside to this room was that the balcony was very narrow and had a low wall vs a railing. This particular balcony was home to about 6 pigeons who covered it with poop.
Totally unusable!
Still, was happy to no longer have the constant noise barrage.
One last negative id say was that if you chose to beach it, you had to rent the chairs and umbrellas.
I probably won’t return to this resort. I will try the Opal Sands resort just south of this one next time as it actually sits right on the beach and the restaurant sits on the sand.
Fair to say my experience was less than desirable at the Opal Grand. They should follow suit in customer experience the you receive at the Opal Capitana resort, of which this was nothing like.
My suggestion to management is you not mislead your guests with false descriptions re your rooms.
Words such as partial ocean views and city views lead travelers to believe of a great experience.
Also transparency regarding ongoing daily construction would be the polite thing to do when it comes to room accommodations!
⭐️⭐️⭐️ only because the amenities & staff were great

Thank you for your review. We are disappointed to read that your stay fell short of expectations. Our room descriptions are completely accurate as described on the website as transparency is important to us. Delray Sands is the property close to us and it sits on it's private beach, Delray Beach is a public beach, so 2 very different experiences. Room décor, location and noise level is very subjective and we are pleased that you were able to be moved to a room to suit your personal taste. We do hope that you choose to return in the future.

I just finished a 4 night stay from Nov 28-Dec 2. The hotel has a great location across the street from the beach and along the 1 mile stretch of Atlantic Ave filled with restaurants.

My stay started off negatively because I given a room with a view of an adjoined roof. I encourage to make plans earlier enough to secure a room with a view. I never used the pool as it’s way too crowded and preferred the beach across the street. Be advised you have to rent beach chairs from a different concession charging $10/ hour.

I ate at Drifts, the restaurant in the hotel, while it has a very nice ambiance, the food is underwhelming and overpriced

Service is what truly distinguishes a good hotel from a great hotel and there is no better example of Great Service than Abdul. Abdul welcomed me and brought my bags to my room. Over the next few days, he was always helpful with different requests. And of course it was Abdul who came to my room for my bags, stored them for an hour and then retrieved my car and loaded the bags. Abdul is really a credit the Opal Resort welcoming and saying farewell.

We were very much looking forward to our stay at the Opal Grand and while the location is great, the actual hotel left a lot to be desired. We checked into our junior suite and the room was dusty. So dusty that our one year old son had brown dirt stains on his feet from walking in the room. They offered to deep clean the room after that but did not remedy the stain couch (paint stains) or holes in the curtains. The bath towels were ripped with holes. Also, there was always a maids cart in the hallway no matter the time of day. The pool was lackluster with a large wooden screen with a photo of the beach blocking the actual beach (and construction). Additionally the towels by the pool had holes in them. While this isn’t a huge deal, you expect more given the price point. We were wholly dissatisfied with our stay and while we will come back to Delray Beach we will not stay at the Opal Grand Resort again.

We have stayed at the Opal Grand between 2-3 times every year since they have opened. Since the last couple of times, we have stayed at the hotel we noticed constant change in management. Now we know why. We stayed at OPal Grand 12/19-12/26 and paid around $3000 to stay there. When I settled our bill the last day, I noticed an overcharge of $90 for the Valet. They charged my sister's car 3x to my room which I never gave them permission. My sister parked her car at the hotel one time and she herself paid the valet $30 CASH. They accused me and my husband that she had her car 3x which they were WRONG. We spoke to the Manager Norman who just told us we had to deal with the valet manager Miquel. The Valet manager called us and also accused us of lying. Why would we lie after spending over $3000 to stay at the hotel? I asked them to look at what they collected and see that my sister paid cash. My sister does not keep receipts that she pays cash. The managers at this hotel are a joke. What happened to hospitality? This hotel used to be good but the management is absolutely horrible and they do not care about their quests. Who are the head people running this company????? I would like to speak to them. In addition, when we first arrived there was a young woman who was treated very rudely by the valet and was literally shaking and asked to immediately check out of hotel because of it.
And on top of all that, the hotel which is not that old is quickly deteriorating. Both elevators on the north tower were constantly broken. They are old and in need of new elevators. The rooms are also getting worn. My sink was constantly clogged although they fixed it when I notified them of it.
After being treated by management like garbage and tossed to deal with it with the valet, we will never stay at this property again!!!!!! Obviously, they don't care about losing hotel guests that were very loyal to them and tipped their staff very well! Go ask the pool staff about us?

First time staying at the Opal Grand Resort. The overall experience was great. Both the staff of the hotel as well as the staff at the restaurants were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast choices at the Monkey Bar were delicious. Our room facing the pool was very clean and comfortable. As a few reviewers mentioned the balconies are a little narrow but it wasn't an issue for us as we only sat out there for a quick coffee in the morning. The pool itself was always well maintained. The gym is a perfect size with plenty of equipment for everyones needs. The location of the hotel is on a great corner within walking distance to a few food establishments. It is directly across from the beach. The hotel allows you to bring towels from the pool to the beach. Renting chairs and umbrellas are available at the beach by the hour or for the day. Underground parking was very convenient. Absolutely no complaints on our trip. Will be recommending the hotel to our friends and will definitely be going back. Thank you to everyone who made our stay amazing.

You absolutely do not need a car in Delray. We only used an Uber twice, to and from the airport. It's very easy to get around by walking. I'm sorry, but I cannot answer your question about the room. If you don't get an answer here, your best bet might be calling the hotel.
