On a recent visit to family in Muscat, we travelled up here for the day and an overnight stay. cost was 75 rael for the room included dinner and breakfast. It is a small "resort" consisting of chalets, tents and area for backpackers with their own tents. We stayed in the chalets, 4 of them, all together, with the back...

Stayed one night at this place during an overnight trip to the mountains.Best called as a motel, instead of a hotel or a resort. Stayed at a Sunset pavilion which gives you breath taking views of Sunset in Oman behind mountains. Room is a spacious studio style with a sofa, small dining table, two single beds,TV, hot and cold water...

We visited Jebel Shams Resort in order to walk the rim of the Grand Canyon of Oman ! I am not a picky traveler but I felt this was a little bit of a disappointment for what we paid for the 2 rooms! Dinner buffet and breakfast buffet were included and the food was pretty good! I felt the rooms...

We stayed in a Sunset Chalet, the room was large with two beds, TV, air-conditioning and a fridge. The bathroom was adequate but had a 'wet room' shower despite there being a proper tray . . . the floor/toilet was soaked after a brief shower (I am sorry, but I just can not understand this type of arrangement!). Food (dinner/breakfast)...

As we traversed through the expanses of diverse Oman, the trip to Jebel Shams was long due and awaited. We all were looking forward for some respite from the blistering sun in Muscat. We drove about 250 kilometers from Muscat up the Hajar mountains to Jebel Shams. (Jebel means Mountain in arabic) Many years ago we had covered a circuit...

Having heard from friends that Jebel Shams tends to be 20 degrees cooler than Muscat, we thought we'd better check it out. The drive from Muscat to Nizwa is a little arduous & frankly quite boring. However, as you get to Nizwa, the drive then through Bhala is fascinating, with a fort & so much greenery. Then starts the drive...

Jebel shams resort is a great place to go for a bit of rustic adventure. It is situated amidst spectacular mountains, and the drive alone to get to the place is exciting. The resort is small, but cozy. They have a nice pool, although it was really cold. The food was delicious, and I had the feeling like we were...

This place is rather expensive for what you get, but there are not many places to stay here. The rooms are ok and the tents are nice. I would recommend the tents. You should choose a real bed for each family member as extra bed mean a simple mattress on the floor. And they are thin, so you'll feel the...

You won't find a more dramatic location than this. Accomodation is quite basic and feel like they could do with a simple refresh (new curtains, lick of paint etc) but they were clean and comfortable. The pool is a nice touch after a long morning of walking. Good hearty meals at breakfast and dinner. All the best walking is on...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Jebel Shams Resort is located in the Wilayat of Al Hamra which is part of the Ancient city of NIZWA. The Resort is built atop of the highest peak in Oman. Jebel Shams is known as "The Mountain of The Sun" and rises to an altitude of 3000 metres. The most amazing sunsets can be experienced from here. A 4 x 4 vehicle is the recommended form of transport to reach our location and takes approximately 40 minutes to ascend from the nearest town of AL-Hamra. The area is home to weavers of heavy woolen rugs in distinctive colours and geometric designs. The views of the Grand Canyon from Jebel Shams Resort are amazing, ideally situated just minutes walk away from the Canyon and some fabulous Trekking and Mountain Biking, just some activities available to our guests. The temperature in Summer is ideal, usually around 30 degrees Celcius, which makes it an ideal place for a weekend break from the heat of the city's of Muscat and elsewhere for weekend breaks or a great place to explore for visitors around the Globe.
