Just steps from Fort Lauderdale Beach, Kimpton Shorebreak Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort is where you will find both serenity and a buzzing social scene. It all depends which way you want to turn the tide. With two pools, a coastal-inspired restaurant and bar, and lush secluded courtyards, each setting is a postcard of possibility. Originally opened as the Escape Hotel in 1949, it was the first hotel near the beach to have a swimming pool and stay open year-round. Today, the welcoming coastal spirit remains. Grab a cocktail, listen to live music, watch yachts drift by or simply claim a moment of calm in your modern, bright guestroom. Like the ocean nearby, this local hideaway is there with a rush of adrenaline — and breath of fresh air.

Kimpton Shorebreak Fort Lauderdale has earned praise for its excellent location, with guests appreciating its beach proximity and peaceful setting. The rooms, described as spacious and modern, do face some criticism regarding noise and privacy. While opinions on value are mixed, with some concerns over fees and service, there are travelers who found their stay to be a good deal. This hotel is so darling! So charming! It has a soul! I have loved every single of my 16 nights, here! The staff are absolutely perfect! The best ever! They always have a smile and a welcome or welcome back greeting for you. The hotel is located 2 blocks from the beach. It is quiet and peaceful. There are patios, lots of plants, which contribute to the relaxing atmosphere. I had a King Premium room on the ground floor of this 2-storey building. When I opened my door, I was greeted by gian ferns and other beautiful plants. My windows looked out to banana plants and other lush vegetation. My bed was very comfortable. And the turquoise blue fridge was a very convenient amenity. They have a pink and blue flamingo theme going throught the hotel. There ponds with more vegetation, too. There are 2 pools. From the rooftop pool/bar, you get a fab view of the waterways.
I highly recommend this hotel!

Excellent boutique option and value in the main beach area of Fort Lauderdale . The hotel is a short two blocks from the beach and the rate includes beach chairs and towels .

Having stayed at many of the hotels in the area this is probably the best value for money spent . Rooms are clean , comfortable and modern . A bit on the small side but comfortable enough for two . We had a queen double room on the second floor with partial view of the canal . Most rooms face the street or gardens so not much by way of view but surroundings are quite pleasant.

Service at the front desk is good. The restaurant service however was very slow and we found the staff less attentive . We enjoyed breakfast however and the restaurant ambience which is in a lovely setting by the pool . However , we had to wait a very long time even for our coffee and our order was incorrect when it finally arrived . Staff seemed overwhelmed even though the restaurant was only half full .

The gym is small , not much equipment but functional . Loved The small pool area which is an oasis of calm and relaxation! Also enjoyed the complimentary two hour daily bike rental !

I would not hesitate to stay here again and was pleasantly surprised by the facility . Much better experience overall than most of the hotels on the main beach strip and best value for money spent .

Loved my recent stay here. It was more stylish and spread out than I expected in photos and impeccably maintained, with beautiful clean, airy looking rooms and a peaceful modern retro seaside boutique vibe. I liked that the sleeping areas were quiet but you could go to other sections to lounge and drink. It's mostly an open air setting too, so very COVID safe which we appreciated (my spouse is immunocompromised). Botanic restaurant had delicious and healthy breakfast options and outdoor poolside seating available. Service was all very friendly and attentive; I arrived on the late side and liked that the gentleman at the front desk gave me a reassuring comment that they are always there to help regardless of the time. Free coffee and tea are available in the hallway in front of the restaurant in the mornings. The resort fee includes bottled water and beach chairs and bike rental options. The beach is a short 2-block walk away and the hotel is in a quiet block but close to many larger hotels and restaurants and walkable to Las Olas Blvd and the water taxi stop. We lucked out and found free street parking right outside the hotel in a safe, quiet spot, but valet is available too. Overall, I loved the unique and placid, spa like vibe of this hotel, and found it soothing.

Great location a block from the beach. Fabulous view from the rooftop pool and bar.

Our room was not cleaned properly any of the 4 nights we stayed… floor was sandy when we arrived and remained so the entire time, shampoo/conditioner not refreshed despite our specifically requesting twice and being told that it would be done automatically.

The tea and coffee bar in the mornings was great, although our last morning it was a mess from 7-10 am (ie the entire time), with no hot water for the tea, empty and used tea bags and sugar sachets strewn about, and no lids for the cups.

Our keys were deactivated a few times with no rhyme or reason.

Our deposit was taken from 4 different cards due to their having a “technical problem” with their payment machine at checkin- which by the way took over an hour, there was such a long line and the “manager” (or so he claimed) was moving so slow!

Lots of mouthy and snotty staff.

Bikes to rent for free for first 2 hours, great for riding up and down the water.

Needed a get away after a long Covid pause from traveling so we booked a package called bubbles to the rescue. Was supposed to get a bottle of bubbles, hair towel and a shower bomb. Didn’t get any of it until I asked about it. They brought me the bubbles but not the other items. The toiletries were not replenished every day. We had to ask twice and on the third or fourth day and they were finally given to us. We stayed 7 nights and I’d think the toiletries would be replenished every other day at least.
The beach chairs were not readily available. If you wanted to guarantee to get one you had to line up by 7:30 am and wait until 9:00 for the chairs to be distributed. That process was not explained and people were allowed to secure a chair and leave until they were ready to come to the beach for the day, holding it for the whole morning. That would be fine if they had enough chairs. The first day we were told to just grab a chair on the front row. We paid a resort fee that included a chair and we’re made to feel as though we were taking something that we didn’t pay for. Also the beach attendant said they don’t give water to the people staying at the Kimpton. Even though that is also part of the resort fee. They also told us to bring our own towels from the hotel.
The hotel was clean and we loved the pool areas. The room could use one more table or chest to put clothes in. Also could use a hook or two in the bathroom. I’d say the walk to the beach is about 2 blocks not one.
The staff at the hotel was very friendly and for the most part very accommodating. The valet attendants were great.
I’d stay again but probably not as long.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit here for Memorial Day weekend. The food & drinks in Botanic are amazing. The staff is friendly and engaging. This gem is tucked away a block from the hustle & bustle of the beach. A beach set up comes with your room though. While the pool is on the smaller side, I never felt cramped or crowded and the staff was very attentive. There is a gym and daily yoga offered. The only complaint I have is this room doors slam loudly and can be startling at 4 am when a neighbor is entering or exiting their room.

Stay Report - 10/2 to 10/3

Location: A big selling point.  The hotel is located four blocks off A1A on quiet Riomar Street.  It can be hard to turn left if you're going North on A1A onto Riomar but you're away from the big Fort Lauderdale crowds while still able to walk easily to the beach.  It's easy to get back to highways and only 15 minutes from FLL

Hotel: The hotel itself is really nice.  It has a nice Art Deco vibe and is a beautifully restored and preserved building.  Walking around it is really pleasant.  The pool is definitely on the small size though but the pool bar is lovely.  The main bar is also very nice.  On the flip side, valet parking is awful.  The valet staff are rude and somehow managed to misplace my keys.

Check In: Speaking of indifferent, no Spire recognition, no offer of a welcome amenity, no upgrade, no friendliness.  Everyone who worked at the front desk was unhelpful at best, more often rude.

Room: Small with a very small bathroom (which had the Candlewood Suites soap brand in it for some reason).  There were also no outlets near the desk.  Thankfully the TV was nice, there were outlets next to the bed and the Wifi worked well but it was not a room that's comfortable for two people to hang out in.

Dining: Very very mixed.  Drinks at the bar were great: friendly bartender, good pours and a nice time.  Breakfast was an unmitigated disaster.  The restaurant was severely understaffed including no bartender for breakfast drinks and just one waiter.  It took nearly an hour for two entrees to come out and one was the wrong entree.  Spending 75 minutes at breakfast is not a pleasant experience and there was no attempt by the hotel to try and make it right

Resort Fee: Total joke at $37.

Overall an unimpressive stay.  I think with better staff it could be a great hotel but until then I wouldn't stay again.

Love the decor! The room's furnishings 'tho simple are stylish and the bright walls made a well lit space that seems bigger than it actually is. Love the cute retro mini fridge and Marshall Stack themed Bluetooth (or phonejack optioned) speaker for playing tunes. We didn't eat at the property except for a quick breakfast bite before check in, as it was only a one night stay and we had other lunch and dinner plans already made...but we did take a look at the in house restaurant's menu and would have ordered once or twice for a sit down meal had we been around longer. The bar looked well appointed as well. A friendly male staff member who had helped with our bags politely refused a tip saying "it's all good". We usually stay at hotels on the beach or directly across the street from the beach in Ft. Lauderdale, but selected the Kimton for it's name recognition as a stylish boutique hotel chain and because I had an IHG free night to use up. We will definitely consider a future stay here.

We are currently staying at the hotel on a 4 night visit before flying back to England tomorrow.

On arrival we were met with a warm and friendly welcome. All the staff have been very helpful, professional and have made us feel very welcome throughout our stay.

Our room on the 2nd floor is spacious, well maintained and the bed is very comfortable.

The roof top pool area and bar is open from 11am and the view is breathtaking over the busy waterway and the city. The pool is large for this type of pool as is the decking area with plenty of beds for sunbathing and tables to sit around. Equally the bar is well stocked and serves great cocktails.

There are also bikes to hire and which are free for the 1st 2 hours which we used for an early morning ride.

The restaurant and bar is in a nice setting, we did not eat there but had nightcaps, the bar being well stocked and used by locals calling in which is always a good sign.

Location is good being set back 2 roads from the main beach road and sea front. The beach is no more than a 5 minute walk as are the beach bars and restaurants.

Las Olas Boulevard is a $7 cab ride for the bars and restaurants or 2.5 mile walk

All round it’s been a great stay and we would highly recommend this hotel if you are after a calm, trouble free and warm stay.

Loved my one-night stay at the Kimpton Goodland. I love the mid-century architecture and vibe, and I love that it’s in a quiet part of Fort Lauderdale away from crowds and the laid back community. The hotel is a short 5 minute walk to the beach and there are plenty of eating options and activities (Bonnet museum and a mall are nearby) yet it’s tucked away behind the hustle and bustle of beach boulevard and the large high rise beachfront hotels. Las Olas is also a short Uber ride away.

My room was on the second floor facing Birch Road and it was clean and tastefully decorated in the Kimpton modern mid-century style. Amenities were all standard and satisfactory. The hotel has a rooftop pool with Instagram worthy views of the Intracoastal and a pool on the ground floor. Breakfast and dinner at The Botanic restaurant were delish. Complimentary coffee and tea and infused water were big pluses. I look forward to my next stay.
