We had stayed here in the past and had a wonderful experience. This time was terrible. As a Hilton Honors member, this was not what I would expect…even at a Hampton Inn. Room smelled and was damp. Trash and soiled linens were in the hall from the time we arrived until we left. They are probably still there. Valet parking price was ridiculous. Not worth it. Will not be back to this place.

Hotel's Favourite
I recently spent 13 nights at the Hampton Inn for a work obligation. There is no place like home but Hampton Inn was a close second. The staff was friendly and helpful, the breakfast was hot and fresh each morning, and the room was comfortable, spacious and clean. I also had use of a conference room at the hotel during my stay. It was perfectly set up for a large number of people to spread out yet easily interact when needed around the large circular table. Multiple restaurants surround the hotel in all directions ensuring we had plenty of variety when eating out each night. Overall our stay was enjoyable and productive. Mark in group sales helped us every step of the way. Next time I’m in Gainesville I’ll definitely give Mark and the Hampton Inn staff a call to book another room!

Good afternoon, Thank you for your kind words detailing your stay in the hotel. I will pass along your comments to Mark as well. Thirteen days is indeed a long time and I'm delighted we were able to create the "home away from home" for you. I remember your stay and know you had some pressing issues during your stay. It's always nice to come hoe after those kind of days. We look forward to seeing you again soon. Brad

I don't like to write bad reviews, but there isn't a great deal of positive things to say about his hotel. It certainly does not live up to the Hampton Inn brand. First of all, there is no free parking on site. Valet parking is $29/a day. I came here for a weekend course at UF and wanted something close to campus. The options were to park on the street if you're lucky enough to find a spot, and if you do find a spot, make sure to follow the rules of the decals (free parking after 5pm, but not after 10am, only certain colors can park here, etc.) I was told I could also park in the parking garage around the corner from the hotel, but they charge $25/night including weekends. I l drove around in circles countless times looking for parking and eventually gave up since I couldn't find any available free parking spots on the street. Since I was from out of town, I didn't want to risk getting my car towed and decided to pay the $29. Factor that if you decide to book a room here, plus $5 to tip the valet each time you come in and out of the hotel. I decided to bring my family since I'll be in meetings/class from 7am to 7pm each day for the weekend. My kids were so sad to see how small the pool was. It was smaller than the pool at our home. The room was a typical room size. However, the bed was so uncomfortable that I had back pain each morning since the springs of the mattress were completely worn. We spent thee nights here and they housekeeping never came. After the second day, we inquired as to why housekeeping never came. We called the from desk a couple of times and nobody answered. I decided to walk to the lobby and was told it was my request only. Shouldn't they have told us this at the time of check-in? in any event, the gentleman at the front desk said he'll ask to see if they can service my room, and if not, he'll at least have someone take out the trash and bring in more towels. Neither of those occurred. We had so much trash that we would have taken it ourselves if they provided bags. Morever, the towels were so thin that I felt as though I should have brought my own towels from home. And by the way, they never brought us more towels and when I called the front desk several times (nobody would answer most of the time), we were told to come down and get them ourselves. The tried to get a couple of workouts in the gym. The treadmill was old that the controls would not work properly. There were also sanitizing wipes in the fitness center. Breakfast was ok for a Hampton, your choice of scrambled eggs, oatmeal and some muffins. The only bright spot for this hotel was the wonderful lady working the breakfast. She would great us every morning and had a smile from ear to ear. This lady deserves a raise. i'll be coming back to Gainesville for the next two years and I will never stay at this hotel ever again. For those coming to UF, stay at the Holiday Inn or Double Tree which is a few miles a way. Parking if free. I've also stayed at the Hampton Inn in Aluchia and that experience was a million times better.

As a Hilton Diamond member I try to stay at Hilton As much as I can, decided to choose down town Hampton Inn as the location was great and close to restaurants and Shands Medical Center. The room AC unit did not cool the room off, shower door in bathroom was rusted as was very difficult to move upon entering. Other then the location I believe this hotel is showing it’s age and not on level of other Hiltons.

We had a great experience at this location. For our trial, is was so convenient to the courtroom. I was greeted with a smile every morning and every night! The staff were all amazing but HUGE shout out to MARK - Director of Sales who worked with me for 2 months in coordinating and making sure we had everything we needed each day. Super easy to communicate with and very attentive! Also, CODY our valet guy took great care of us and was always willing to go the extra mile for us. If we have another trial in Gainesville, I will definitely call my Hampton in Family!! -- Tish Jones, Pensacola

I found two drug test kits in my room. One still had urine in it. WHAT A HEALTH HAZARD!! I took them to the front desk, the clerk simply looed in it and put it in the back. I had to ask for another room. I later asked for the manager, but she wasn’t available, so I requested an upgrade for the inconvenience. I was upgraded to a suite and this room was filthy. I didn’t say anything because I felt I was already being a pain. The bathroom mirror still had toothpaste splatter from the previous guest. The soap dish was covered with soap scum, I mean thick soap scum, not just a little from one time use. And the counter was dirty as well. I cleaned all of this myself. I should have had to do this. Then the carpet. It obviously was not vacuumed. There were visible white crumbs everywhere. Not very dense but could be seen throughout the floor. If these could be seen, there’s no telling what else is on the carpet. Two of the pillowcases had stains. One looked like a small spec of blood and the other was a light brown stain. I imagine they were clean, but it is very off-putting, nevertheless. I have never felt so uncomfortable in a hotel before. I know Gainesville is a college town and the kids probably don’t care as much, but there’s no excuse for not cleaning rooms.

Remember when Hilton was upscale, and Hampton was it's very desirable offshoot? Well, those days have died, it seems. Take a break here to search online for the Hilton CEO's recent speech about increasing profitability by decreasing costs. You'll see where this is going. The Downtown Hampton Inn in Gainesville should be a great stay. Nice hotel, fantastic location, nice amenities and rooms. BUT . . . It appears they are in line with Hilton's cost cutting plans. No longer are they an acceptable stay. We were here for three days. We asked on each day for housekeeping to give us towels and empty our wastebaskets. It didn't happen, even though Hilton and Hampton say you just have to ask. BTW, the room rates ranged up to $330 per night for this low-service flop house. On the afternoon before the third night, we stood at the desk, asked for towels, and were handed two. At no time was the trash emptied, the shampoos or coffee replenished, or any of the other expected niceties provided. They did promise to clean on the fifth day or when we checked out. Thanks! One of the most disingenuous comments is that this is due "to the pandemic". This is bulls...! If it were true, I'd have seen even one employee wearing a mask or gloves. I did not. Further, the trashcans in the hotel were overflowing, and the buffet area appeared to have been host to a party of drunk college kids, as well as being out of supplies 45 minutes before the end of service. They also make hollow sounds about disinfection in the rooms. No! If this were true, there would not have been mildew between the tile and the tub. Speaking of the tub: the shower didn't have cold water -- when you turned it on, all you got was scorching hot water. The house engineer (a nice guy) came up and got it so we could take almost acceptable showers with the approximate pressure of a sprinkling can. The manager of the hotel was aware of this all the way along, from the first evening when I reported the non-functional shower. He simply couldn't have cared less. He also promised housekeeping the next morning, which of course never showed up. I'd love to use this hotel in Gainesville, but I won't unless these policies and approaches change. Another note: there is no self-parking. They have only valet, at a charge of $29 per night, with unlimited in and out. My car was hit and damaged in the garage. Like they care at all. What I will do, and what I suggest for you is to look for an inexpensive hotel, perhaps something ending in Express. At least there, minimal service is expected and you won't have unrealistic expectations.

The bathroom was filthy. Dirt and hair, not mine, on the floor. Baseboards were very dirty. Bathtub had brown streaks on the outside. I stay in Hampton Inns all the time, I have never stayed in one where my room was so dirty. This was not the case of 1 bad cleaning, this was the result of a lack of cleaning for a very long time. Room was 505

We were headed back to NC after a week in Tampa when we developed car trouble on Route 24. After getting towed, we went to Hampton Inn, downtown on 101st St. The desk clerk was Fernando. His genuine concern and prompt service was the only good news that day and it relieved a lot of stress. The repairs required two days and Fernando was very supportive and understanding through this ordeal. We can't express enough how much he contributed to making our bad situation actually enjoyable. Please convey our heartfelt gratitude for a job well done. You are fortunate to have a Front Desk Clerk of his caliber. We have stayed in numerous hotels and clearly Fernando is head and shoulders above them all. Thank you. Ed and Amelda Howze
