Where do I start? When we arrived early evening, we were immediately informed that the room I had booked months before was not available. We were given a two queen bed room at a reduced rate, however the reason I had booked the king room in the first place is because these rooms are so oddly shaped that the space in the two bed rooms is almost entirely taken up by the beds and there is very little room to maneuver. (One plus is there are two closets.) Then AFTER we were checked in, we were informed that there was an ongoing problem with the hot water and the hotel was aware, but couldn't get a plumber to come out and look at it. (Attention corporate...help these people!) We were told to "let the hot water run for SEVEN minutes" and it would heat up. As this was graduation weekend, that was problematic for getting ready early in the morning to be at UF by 8 a.m.. Later, we found out from another guest that one of the elevators had been broken. It was making very bizarre noises and shaking very hard when it stopped at a floor while we were in it, so I took four flights of stairs down in the morning because I was not taking the chance of missing graduation stuck in an elevator. The bathroom is very small and the sink area is tight. Basically, this room is too small for two people to function at the same time. The "kitchenette" is tiny with a small fridge and microwave and no attached work space. The only positive thing I can say about the room is that the living area is large and functional, although dark, as the window is in the bedroom. However the positioning of the ONE tv so that it can be viewed from the bedroom or the living area blocks the "hallway" between the two rooms. And if you have two people or more in the "suite", you all better want to be viewing the same thing. The issues with the breakfast are more due to COVID restrictions than anything I would blame the hotel for. At least they tried to provide a breakfast. However, all the staff seem frustrated, probably with good reason. In other words, while the common areas of the hotel appear clean and well-maintained (aesthetically), the only way I would recommend this hotel is to one person staying alone who couldn't find anything else in town. We will not be staying here again.

Room Tip: Insist on a king room or suite. Upper floor for quiet. If more than one person, stay elsewhere.

Title sums it up. They also didn’t put out breakfast or coffee on last morning. Near highway so it’s noisy. This seems like a very old run down hotel that they slapped some paint on and made a Marriott. They get away with being terrible because of the demand for rooms near the University.

I wanted to stay at this SpringHill Suites after having a great experience at a SpringHill at Chicago O’Hare Airport. The Gainesville SpringHill is located just far enough off Archer Road to be quiet but close enough to easily get out to the shopping areas nearby. The two queen bed room was spacious, comfortable, and I enjoyed the couch and coffee table down at the end of the room. Having two sinks in the room is a plus. I’m not sure if it’s because of Covid or not, but the room wasn’t cleaned at all during the course of the four days I was there, so if I needed extra soap, shampoo, or washcloths I had to track down the cleaning staff in the hallways. With Covid, hotels have had to adjust their continental and hot breakfast options. At this SpringHill, there is one woman who each morning takes your breakfast order and prepares it for you based on what you select off the daily menu. How she does this could be best described as cranky and irritated, chastising guests with a snappy attitude and complaining of being overworked. This makes getting the breakfast you have paid for with your room both awkward and uncomfortable. She seems like a nice person but it is unfortunate that she seems so unhappy with her job. If she needs more help in the mornings, she should ask the manager for assistance, but don’t take it out on the guests. Overall, even with so many hotel options in Gainesville to choose from, I would stay at this SpringHill again.

We will start with the good points.... Good: Check in was easy and attendant was pleasant, price was great, good location, decent beds if you like firm, they give you a 5pk of disinfecting wipes, 12:00 checkout time, Netflix available if you have an existing account, free wi-fi for every guest. Needs improvement: updating of rooms....several stains on rug, rusty looking tile in bathroom, housekeeping missed a washcloth left behind from who knows when, only amenities for toiletries is a small tube of shampoo and conditioner and soap, Horrible: While we understand the need for bag breakfasts, the way they are given to you was not pleasant. When my husband went down at 8:30 (breakfast is available until 9) the lady responsible for packing the bags was short with customers. While you were able to choose what items you wanted in your bag, my husband and several others weren't given this accommodation. When asked if they still had any "hot" food left, she replied rudely "No, you should have been here earlier". She was just very blunt and not friendly. EVERYTHING has to be done through her....she is the only one there who is able to get you a cup of coffee, or a bottle of orange juice, while still trying to pack one bag at a time for each person. This leads to a very slow, long line. Management to give her additional help to remedy this problem. I'm sure she was just stressed and having help would improve her disposition. Probably wouldn't stay here again for more than one night (like we did) unless rooms are updated.

We had a downstairs room close to the exit. It was quiet in the room. A special compliment to Mrs. B, Mrs Red, and Kyli. We enjoyed a hot breakfast in the morning. When we left we were thanked for staying and wished a good day with safe travels and a "come back again". This is the only place I will stay when visiting Gainesville.
