We have stayed here several times and love the beach/pool area. The rooms are spacious and nice enough. The poolside/beach waitstaff is very attentive and we love to eat at Gus's restaurant. My husband has gone out with the dive boat here and had no...More

This was a stay for my birthday. We checked in and being Marriott Rewards members, our room was upgraded. After settling in, there was a knock at the door and an employee gave me a bottle of champagne and a gift bag. Nice touch. The...More

If you don't want to drive, Key Largo is not a good place to be without a car. There are good restaurants within walking distance, but not much else. Key West is a great destination for pedestrians, with lots of transit options, including cabs, pedal taxis, etc. There are no large shopping malls in the Florida Keys. My suggestion would be to do your shopping in Miami, where there are lots of options. Traffic in the Keys is not bad if you want to brave driving on the right side of the road. There's only one road through the Keys. Enjoy!

Hi John... I think I answered your question that you sent to me, but may be not. I will try to answer the best way I can here. Also, I will try to provide the information you requested but I do not know how to add more photographs. To be honest, I sent more but for some reason they are missing and the missing ones included the topics you requested (beach. Florida Bay and so on). The Marriott has been very nice to use, so perhaps they can help me learn how to send those or if I need so send another review. Now let me try to answer your questions:
1. The Marriott is an awesome place for teens and so are the Keys. There are a lot of things for all sorts of kids and ages. That being said, unlike a cruise boat, they do not offer a teen center or organized activities as far as I know. That is something you should think about in advance. We do everything as a family, so I have never tried to solve the problem you are asking about. So, I recommend that you plan in advance but know there is a ton to do especially for kids that love the outdoors, water and fishing. One thought is to put the kids in dive lessons because the Keys offers the easiest and safest diving in the world as far as I am concerned.
2. I did include images of the beach, but for some reason they did not post. I an post more if someone will help me learn how to do that. The beach is smallish but large for the Keys. It is not Padre Island for example, but it is a quiet and private place where usually only hotel guests are found. For me it is perfect. The water is calm and the slope of the bottom under the water is gradual. So it is safer for young children with proper supervision. Also, Pennekamp State Park is close. I will see if I can learn to post more images and may be someone an tell me why the pictures I sent did not post. I also sent one of the bubble bath which is very enjoyable.
3. We are all certified and very experienced divers, so we do not worry about the training. If your group is not certified, I would use this opportunity to get certified, but if you are you can do like us. We have developed a relationship with the Reef Roamer and they take us out on private charters hen possible. It is a catamaran and provides a lot of room. Also, we like to sail, so it is an added benefit. If you would like to learn or help your kids to pick up a positive hobby they can enjoy forever, Rainbow Reef Dive Center might be your best bet. They are close to the hotel and a PADI facility.
Thank you for your question. If you have others, please let me know!
Marriott, can you please help me understand how to add my other photographs of the beach and things or do I need to submit a new review or can you help?
