Nestled in a prime spot that garners acclaim from guests for its accessibility to attractions and picturesque vistas, the Ocean Key Resort & Spa offers a lively ambiance accentuated by vibrant live music and stunning sunsets. While the hotel's location and amenities generally receive positive feedback, opinions on value and room quality show a divide; some guests consider the resort overpriced and cite inconsistencies in room maintenance and service. Despite this, the majority of visitors praise the clean facilities and the warm, attentive staff.

Beautiful everything, relaxing spa, beautiful pool and friendly staff. Local owners for many decades see to it that your stay is pleasant. NOT for college kids or parties. This is a nice resort for adults who want to relax in paradise.

We had a long mother-daughter weekend experience like no other at Ocean Key!! From entering through the beautiful airy lobby, being greeted with a sample of their signature rum drink, handling of our bags, the suite room was exceptional with a welcome cheese and berry plate, our view was magnificent, we went to the on resort Terra Spa for the best experience I've ever had at a spa which included facials, massage, a milk bath, and mani/pedi combination. I just can't say enough about the resort and the spa. The location is excellent and the dining in-house and in the area is just about the best and freshest food I've every eaten! I highly recommend this resort for a very memorable get away!

We stayed at the ocean key for the second stop of our honeymoon where we visited lots of locations in Florida. The room was HUGE, the staff were really helpful and friendly and the location is brilliant right at the end of Duval street where all the bars restaurants and stores are, the glass bottom boats leave right at the front of the hotel, the ghosts and gravestones tour also leaves right outside! The pool area was gorgeous, we didn’t actually use the pool as we were too busy with excursions but we did watch the sunset there. The hotel backs on to Mallory square which you can use to do the sunset celebration and watch the gorgeous yachts and boats cruise by. We were a little sad that the spa bath didn’t seem overly clean so we didn’t use it during our stay and would recommend flushing it through if you do plan to use it. The Key West chickens woke us every morning and we ate breakfast on our balcony and enjoyed them scratching around downstairs every morning. If you want a quiet hotel I’d say the ocean key isn’t for you (I wouldn’t recommend to families) but I would highly recommend to couples or young groups looking for somewhere near to the action as a great base. Oh! And make sure to BOOK if you want to use the hot tin roof, we wanted Sunday brunch but were turned away as we hadn’t made a reservation.

Every morning, we woke up to the sounds of vacuums and work being done outside our room (before 8AM). This coupled with the speedboats and music from the pier made it tough to really, truly relax or sleep in. Everyone was very friendly so this isn't a knock on the staff, but imagine it's going to be tough to compete with places like Hawaii, Jamaica, the Bahamas, Cabo, Cancun, Turks & Caicos, etc. at $1500/night for a room as, speaking from experience, I've received far more for much less money with regards to amenities at the places mentioned above. I paid for a package that included spa credits but we were only able to book a manicure and couples massage. We were lucky to get what we got from what I can tell as I called more than a week in advance to try and book spa dates and we could only get in on Sunday (we arrived on Thursday, for context). As I mentioned, when we finally did get some spa activities booked, the main thing we wanted to do, and waited all weekend for (the body wrap), wasn't available anymore. So our $1600 spa credit went to two manicures and a couples massage... hardly worth the extra costs for the "Cupid's Suite" package, in my opinion. It also doesn't make a lot of sense to offer $1500+ in spa credits if the spa isn't going to have any availability or the hotel should advertise while booking the package that you need to call 3-4 weeks ahead of your visit to actually get to use the spa onsite (maybe this did happen and it was overlooked). I was told we would get credits for the spa voucher we couldn't use and that we'd see it on the bill, but I am not sure if that is true as I can't see where I was given any money back. Ultimately, Key West just wasn't the town for us. We were looking for relaxing, romantic weekend and it was Spring Break/St. Paddy's Day all at once. We tried to make the most of it but was an underwhelming experience all around.

Trail743135, We would like to first sincerely thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review. There are definitely some issues of concern in your post, and I would like to address them. For starters, I would like to review the package you purchased, and definitely make sure you are credited for spa services that were not able to be rendered. We are truly grateful to be so busy these days, but it does mean that things are booked up fast, and the island itself is full of visitors. Has been all winter, as a matter of fact. Please give me a call so that I can make sure you are taken care of and we can further discuss your visit. Thank you again, AJ Matz Front Desk Manager

I was very disappointed with my stay at ocean key. The room I booked was supposed to be oceanfront, for 1500.00 a night. It was essentially a view of the pier. An additional resort fee was charged to cover WiFi, room safe, pool towels, etc., which is ridiculous considering the exorbitant nightly rate. Also, upon check in, we were not given our welcome cocktail that was part of the resort fee. Cleaning and replenishment of towels and supplies had to be requested, supposedly due to COVID restrictions, but mask wearing and social distancing throughout the facility were lacking. I would not recommend this resort - it is not 4 Star as advertised and you certainly will not get what you paid for.

Passport68062012371, Thank you so much for sharing your experience. We appreciate and use the feedback to improve. We are so sorry that your stay was not what we hope for. We have a very special location at the end of Duval Street that wraps around past the Sunset Pier and Mallory Square. Our property naturally has lower floors that overlook Duval and Mallory, with limited water views. On the other hand, we have high floors on the corners that overlook the ocean with up to 100% view of the water from the room. I am sincerely sorry that your expectations were not met during your stay. For the safety of both guests and staff, we did have strict guidelines for when employees could enter rooms, so requesting services was necessary. I am happy to report that we are now servicing all rooms, no requesting necessary. I am sorry this was not the case when you were here. We hope that you will consider giving us another try, and when you do, feel free to reach out to me directly so that I may help ensure that your stay is exceptional. Once again, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. AJ Matz Front Desk Manager

Just came back from a 5 nights stay at Ocean Key Resort and it was exactly what we needed. Very easy drive from Fort Lauderdale and we stopped along the way for a great lunch at Lazy Days. Covid precautions were apparent from the moment we arrived until we departed. Housekeeping immediately replenished towels and amenities within minutes of calling and all requests were acknowledged and delivered upon. Suite was incredible with stunning water views, and live music played throughout the day at Sunset Pier which we enjoyed from our balcony. We've stayed at many resorts in the area but this was by far the best. We will be back!

We stayed at Ocean Key Resort in a waterfront deluxe suite - and we paid for it! If you have money to spend, you really can't beat the views and location offered by Ocean Key Resort. Located at the end of Duval Street, guests have access to all the buzz on the north end of the street (Sloppy Joe's, Irish Kevin's, and many other bars and shops), but because the property lies adjacent to Mallory Square, you're just isolated enough to escape all the vibrancy and noise. My wife and I got married early in the week and had our reception dinner at Bagatelle (highly recommended, FWIW) - we were pleasantly surprised by the mere three minute walk to return to the resort.

The room was spotless, spacious, and the maids worked tirelessly to maintain a high level of cleanliness. The staff was incredibly friendly, constantly greeting us upon arrival and frequently checking in. Our balcony overlooked the sunset at night, and provided a breathtaking view of the water.

Again, if spending north of $1K per night on a room is well within your budget, I recommend Ocean Key Resort. If you're traveling to Key West, it will be difficult to beat its combination of location, views, clean and spacious rooms, and high quality staff.

Our room was a "partial ocean view" faced towards Duval. The room was fantastic, came with a bottle of the local rum, and we did the breakfast package as well. The positives: Right on Duval, very close to Mallory Square, we were able to watch the sunset from the pool basically a level up from all the people that flock to the pier every evening for the sunset. The staff helped buy tickets with discounts, and were able to suggest places to eat based on something we were specifically looking to eat. The pool was awesome - nearly at the water's edge. The pool chairs were set up with towels and chair covering that was very nice, we did not have to bring any towels with us. The negatives: The shower was VERY difficult to get into, I even fell the first night trying to get out of it. The ledge to get in the shower was about 1 foot thick (see picture), so we ended up climbing through the other side where there was a window, maybe 7 inches thick. The fridge was also already full of the mixed drinks/wine/beer offered through the room so we did not have much space to put any of our own things. We also noticed the roosters started making noise around 6 every morning, that we didn't hear at our second hotel, so just know that the roosters are very active right outside the door of this hotel. It didn't bother us much, because we wanted to get up early anyway, but there was no chance of sleeping in. The staff was very friendly however and the location of the hotel made up for any of the short comings. Complimentary drinks upon checking in was very nice too. If I could go back, I would pay the extra amount for a "full ocean view" room.

A wonderfully positioned Hotel with outstanding views.
The Restaurant which also serves breakfast has stunning views of the clear waters.
Staff are excellent and very helpful.
Prices for rooms are extortionate for what they are.
I was charged just under $600 per night so you then add on "occupancy tax" and all the other taxes and it soon goes crazily priced.
My 3 night stay just for my room worked out at over £1,700 pounds.
Ridiculously expensive.

Resort is wonderful. Perfect location for walking to stores and restaurants. We ordered room service 4x during a 4 day stay and it was fast & delicious every time. Minibar options are very expensive. Tip: Go to CVS across the street and stock up on waters and other beverages upon arrival. Otherwise, plan to pay $4-6 per bottle of water. We splurged for an oceanfront deluxe room (416) and the view is to die for. Definitely recommend. We traveled with 13 other people and there are very different room styles. All were nice! The bed was very comfortable and the AC was nice and cool. Perfect after a day on the water. The staff was incredibly friendly. The rooms lack electrical outlets, so charging multiple devices was a bit of a challenge. We didn't notice until day 2 that we needed to request daily maid service, so our room didn't get cleaned during our stay. Not a big deal, just something to know ahead of time. All in all, I would definitely recommend this resort!!
