Comfy beds, clean room. What else do you want? Personel is super friendly. Make sure to use the bbq at sunset! The locals are nice to chatt with. They know the best places to go, so don't be shy and mingle :)

We stayed here and were very pleased. The motel was super clean. The motel is old but has been updated. The age of the motel for me adds to the attractiveness. Julie at the desk was friendly and extremely helpful. I would stay here again next time.

We were so welcomed by the friendly staff and the roomy and clean accommodations that this was our third year staying there. In the past, we stayed in the motel but this year we stayed in the efficiency. It is close to beaches, parks, restaurants, and the Dolfin Research Center. Not only is the staff great, the folks who live...

Pelican Bay is an older place but room was good size and clean. Price was right. Front desk open limited hours; easy after hours check in but checking out inconvenient if you want to get an early start. Beds not automatically made up during the day. We asked for an extra set of towels which were not provided.

Don't go by the older reviews! It is obvious that there have been renovations. The rooms were very nice at an affordable price. Stayed only one night as we where traveling down the Keys. We would not hesitate to stay much longer in the future. Comfortable bed, tv, small frig, free wifi, coffee pot, microwave, good clean shower, nice pool...

Clean, affordable, very friendly and about to be completely remodeled. We spent 3 nights here and although the rooms are out dated they were very clean. The staff, especially Amanda are excellent. The resort has been purchased by Sun Resort. Big improvements have already started.

Stayed one night. Nice affordable little motel. The owners were very nice and friendly. The room was clean with updated furniture. It had a frig and coffeemaker. The bathroom was good size. This motel is in a good location just outside the center of Marathon. We would stay again.

Motel and location was great. The front office lady was so friendly and could not do enough to make sure our visit was pleasant and memorable. The residents are super friendly as well, we appreciated the invite to the Pot Luck Xmas dinner even though we had other plans. We stayed in Room #3 (right next to the office). The...

Stayed 2 nights in the motel due to very affordable price compared to places in Key West. Front desk was very accommodating of my late arrival and made sure they communicated how to get access to our room. They also were flexible accepting my payment since I wasn't at the motel during their office hours. The room itself was basic...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Carefree’s Pelican Motel was recently remodeled to bring back those retro open-air motel days, but with all the modern amenities we have grown to love. You can pull up right to the door of your private room, conveniently unload your luggage and be sitting on our beautiful shore in less than five minutes. While our look is vintage, our six rooms and three efficiencies are all new. Each room is equipped with an individually controlled air-conditioner, ceiling fan, refrigerator and microwave for your comfort and convenience.Tucked into the picturesque Florida Bay on Grassy Key at Mile Marker 59, just 45 minutes east of Key West, the Pelican is one of a few Marathon Florida Hotels that gives you access to 300 feet of secluded waterfront and a private marina. Our boat slips are just waiting for your vessel, and we’ve got a fish cleaning station ready for you to handle your saltwater catch of the day. When you’re through with your day on the water, jump in by swimming off our bay front or take a dip in our heated swimming pool. Relax, you're in the Florida Keys! ... more   less
