The Resort at Longboat Key Club is often celebrated for its beautiful beachfront location and luxurious atmosphere, with guests particularly fond of the spacious and elegantly decorated rooms offering impressive views. However, some guests have called out the resort for being overpriced, pointing to additional fees and occasional slow service. While the majority of reviewers commend the cleanliness and the range of amenities, including a serene pool area, the value proposition has been a point of contention for many.

We spent a week here in January. Starting with the Bellman Dean, and then Housekeeping, every staff person was there to assist us and could not have been better. The renovated room was lovely and comfortable but with many items that did not work although engineering came many times to try and fix the problems. The pool was open most days but there was a lot of construction noise from the building next door to the pool. It was inconvenient stepping over construction material and having to wait for the one elevator while it was being used by construction staff. The most aggravating grievance, however, had nothing to do with the renovation. It was the fees. They charge a "resort fee" of $25.00 per day thinking that we won't know how much the room really costs. That is insulting enough, but then they charge an additional $20.00 for an umbrella on the beach. We would have had a better feeling for our stay with The Resort if we weren't insulted by these tacky fees.

The resort at longboat Key Club is definitely the place to stay here. The rooms were re-freshed within the past 2 or so years so they were in excellent overall condition. We had an issue with the AC unit in our suite; management quickly resolved it while we were out The Resort offers all the amenities we typically expect at a resort. We especially liked the golf course; it was a challenge but also fun. We booked our tee time the day before.

While there was a beach renewal project on-going while we were there, we benefitted from the work by having a deep beach on which to relax and walk. (Other sections of the beach further north had not been renewed and were especially narrow.)

There are several fees the Resort charges. We were charged a Daily $24 Resort Fee; and $25/day for the use of an umbrella (chase loungers are free). I found these to be reasonable.

There are numerous dining options on site. There is a main swimming pool in the center of the property (between Building 2 and 3). If I had children, I would want to reserve a room in Buildings 2 or 3. In my opinion, the swimming pool is too small for this property and was always packed.

Our Suite was in Building 4 (Gulf front). I would recommend that those without children book in this Building...or Building 1. Self-parking is conveniently located adjacent to the Building. In fact, we were able to park under our Building each day.

While they are pleased to shuttle you around the property (SAY to tennis or golf), I believe you will want access to a car while there, especially if you plan to dine at some of the great restaurants in Sarasota, on Longboat Key or Anna Marie Island; or simply run to the Publix about 3 miles north. Our Suite had a full kitchen.

The staff was excellent. As opposed to some hotels, restaurants, etc., there were sufficient staff available if you needed anything....from your arrival to departure.

Spent Memorial Day weekend at Longboat Key Club Resort and it was great. The hotel is under renovation but I have been in my house for the last three months so I didn't mind that a bit. Staff was warm and friendly and were doing the best they can with what they have. Beach chair setups were spaced out well and made us feel comfortable. Room was renovated and was amazing. Beach Bar staff and the front desk staff were also terrific.

I have been going to Sarasota for five years. I usually stay on Siesta Key with friends but decided I wanted a luxury experience on the beach. The Resort at Longboat Key is the only game in town so I bit the bullet at over $600 a night and booked three nights.Because they are under construction the registration is located near the golf course. The team doing registration were the least gracious front desk staff I have ever encountered and let me say I have travelled the world.

A friend had planned to stay with me for one night so I booked two double beds. When she was unable to join me I requested a king instead. I was told there were none available in the newly renovated rooms. However when I checked an online booking service there were rooms.

As far as renovated updated rooms, well I would describe it as motel decor. There was not a mirror in my room. The beds took up most of the space and there was a totally unnecessary sofa in the corner. The carpet was frayed at the edge.
The beds are foam on a base, not box spring and mattress. The bed was very hard and when I asked if they had a pillow top for the bed the front desk person replied no. No expression of so sorry it you are uncomfortable, or maybe I can do something to remedy this. It was startling.

Since my room was not ready when I arrived I changed and headed for the beach
When I asked for an umbrella I was told there was a $20 charge. I said I am staying at the hotel and they said there is a charge. At more than $600 a day they are charging for an umbrella?

I did complain and was given a credit to cover umbrellas and other chairs at the beach. How many folks think to complain?

The servers at the breakfast and lunch restaurant at the golf club were lovely and they really met a high standard. That was true for the servers at the beach.

Because they are under construction they have port a potties near the pool. They were dirty and an insult to guests.

The housekeeping staff did not replenish items(shower caps, shampoo) Although I left please clean on my door at 11:00 am my room was still dirty at 4;00. When I called I was told I should have called that I wanted the room cleaned earlier. Are they kidding?

There were great bellman and I applaud them.

If you are going to play golf I guess it is a great location, but for a woman on her own, wanting service and luxurious accommodations, not so much.

Let me start by saying 2 things: Covid has been a great excuse for resorts to charge more and give less and this resort is one of the worst for taking advantage of the situation to the detriment of the guest.
Second: Do not be fooled by the false advertising on their website; this is not a luxury 4 Diamond resort. The room remodel is low quality... one of the cabinet doors above the closet gave way and fell on my husband’s head and the dishwasher did not work and we had to go thru 4 dreadful attempts from the maintenance staff to fix it.
There are also never enough chairs at the beach or the pool and to add insult to injury, once you do snag some chairs they charge $25 for an umbrella. There is a $25 additional amenity charge and I have yet to figure out what amenity they are giving that we are actually receiving.
We were notified 2 days before arrival that rooms would only be cleaned every 3 days ( a covid thing and not mentioned on the website) Furthermore every time you need additional towels, body wash, shampoo etc you must text for it because the rooms did not get the daily service. Maybe you will get what you needed or maybe you will just get a bunch of bars of soap instead of the body wash as kept happening to us. I tried to get coffee pods and they would only give 4 per time which meant it was necessary to request daily. We were in a king junior suite and paid an average of $910 per night. Our room was supposed to be beachfront but it was over the pool which was very loud with families. One day we were unable to get a chair at the beach or the pool even though there were many empty chairs, they allow guests to “hold” them by putting a personal item on them. They can stay vacant for hours and they do not manage this at all but allow it even though guests were complaining that there were no chairs. The front desk staff was very apathetic and unhelpful when complaints were made.

My advice if you stay here: be sure to get the lowest rate possible because this place is not worth the amount we paid. You should also be prepared to vacation in an over crowed ant hill and know you are on your own if you experience any difficulties. I would also recommend not having a room over the pool area.

Stayed at hotel 2 weeks ago.

Positive:
The room layout was very nice with 2 bedrooms and all the items described in the write-ups

Negatives
The price of a cabana is $200 which seems extraordinarily high. All we wanted was some shade BUT were told that one needed to get the entire bed and shade as a necessary couple. The bed is hard plastic type material and absorbs the heat making the shade of the cover less comforting
We later learned that one can get the shade/covering for $48 per day and put the chaises under it

We asked and received a credit for the miscommunication

The noise is quite unsettling and in my opinion (and my family) taking away the ambiance of why one goes to the beach

Also, if you need more coffee, towels and so on they do provide reasonable turnaround BUT the initial allotment is underwhelming

The food at the beach was pretty good

Also, no room cleaning and no bellman so one has to look for a rolling cart.

Perhaps a note suggesting that people bring the cart to a specified location would help

We stayed in a 2 Bedroom Renovated Suite - 9th floor of Building 2. Our suite was incredible with amazing views, ample storage, a full kitchen, beautiful bathrooms, and comfortable beds. We traveled in June of 2020 and we were looking for a relaxing escape from the chaos that this year has brought. We found just that. We don't usually eat in on vacation, but given the Covid situation we brought food back to the room on several occasions and the kitchen and balcony were perfectly equipped and pleasant. Resort renovations were still going on in the restaurants and lobby by the pool. There was some noise, but I'm assured that these are complete by now. Rick, the manager, was very helpful in his communications with us prior to our stay.
Due to Covid, there was no housekeeping service or luggage assistance, but we didn't mind this at all. In fact, I believe it contributed to the overall feeling of privacy. The housekeeping staff was responsive in bringing extra towels or whatever we needed to our door.
The gorgeous beach is the only one I've found within the United States where I wanted to spend all day just standing in the water with a cocktail in hand. Beach attendants helped get us set up every day. Our beach server, Kim, was very friendly and attentive. We saw manatees and dolphins up close!
Location cannot be beat with many great restaurants nearby and gorgeous views whichever way you look. I can't wait to see the renovated lobby and restaurants!
I loved it so much that I am returning in 2 weeks and bringing my husband along!

We were impressed by outdoor staff that provided chairs , towels, carried a heavy mat needed for our client in a wheelchair.
Indeed made our day pleasurable, his sincerity was over the top, can't say enough about how in awe we were of Za CV k and his genuine sincerity. A gem of a person.

I will make this review short and to the point. It is a beautiful property but still needs some attention to detail to be rated 4 stars. They advertise that they are a non smoking hotel, however that is not true. I paid for a junior suite with a gulf view balcony room, but could not enjoy the balcony because of all the people smoking around my room. If you advertise that you are a non smoking resort then you should enforce that! To pay upwards of $350.00 per nite and not be able to enjoy the balcony outside is absurd. I did make the management aware of the situation and they said that they allow people to smoke on their balconies, and I said then you should not advertise as a non smoking resort. The answer I got was that they will talk to the General Manager about that.
Also the entire stay one elevator was not working which left only one elevator for everyone in building 2 to use.
We mostly used the stairs because we got tired of waiting for the one elevator . On a good note the employees are very helpful and hard working the girls that work at the beach are excellent but the one boy and I didn’t get his name was very lazy. When I walk up to get a chair at the beach, he was so into his cell phone that I actually startled him and he handed me a chair cover and a towel and asked me my room number and that was it. After that I saw the girls who worked at the beach walk the guests to their chair and put the chair cover on and gave them a table and their towels.

Dear kallivictor: I am sorry you did not have the perfect stay that our team works hard to provide. We did have one of the 2 elevators in your building offline for scheduled upgrades to ensure they continue to run optimally. there is never a good time for this, but we target the slower months to complete these upgrades. We are non-smoking rooms here and encourage our guests to be smoke-free. We do allow smoking on the private balconies but not in suites, restaurants, or public-facing areas. The challenge you had with a team member was rectified and as you see from other reviews here, our track record is for high-quality service. Sorry we did not measure up in this instance. We hope to see you return to see us again soon. Yours in hospitality, Rick Benninghove General Manager Resort at Longboat Key Club rick.benninghove@longboatkeyclub.com 941-387-1567

This is not a 4 diamond property. There is only one restaurant on the property. Food is overpriced and quality is lacking. $50 steak are select grade. Rooms are nice but sheets do not fit the bed. Beach company sets up large covered beds in first row and blocks the view of the gulf. $50 a day gets you two lounge chairs and umbrella and are stacked right next to other guests. $750 a night room is $1,000 a night after all of the fees that are added. Resort does not clean your room each day because of covid but they charge you a fee for it.
