The Whale House Guest House is in a prime location. It’s actually so perfect, we can’t think of anywhere better. Our place is situated in the community of Mobile, smack dab in the middle of the Witless Bay Ecological Reserve, with hundreds of whales feeding in the water just off the sundeck all summer long.

Our stay at the guest house was very comfortable and relaxing. The location of the guest house is convenient to find and nearby to a nice hike on the East Coast Trail, which we completed prior to check-in. The room we were in (Humpback Whale suite) had its own hot tub and it was well equipped, although the breakfast offerings could be improved slightly. We enjoyed the ducks wandering about the place and found it quite quiet at night, even though there were a number of guests staying at the time. We would certainly stay here again if in Mobile.

Very spacious and quiet area with a beautiful view. Owner was very professional and answered any questions very promptly. The location is walking distance to a restaurant called the Fork which I highly recommend and a couple east coast hiking trails .

Quiet peaceful place off the beaten path. We stayed in the humpback room which has a hot tub and small deck. The room is below the blue whale which also has a hot tub. Our room was rectangular-longer than wide. The room is great for staying several days because it has a hot plate, microwave, and toaster oven. The grocery store is nearby. However, be sure to get some food from the Happy Afghan food truck. We had a delicious dish of chicken biryani, nan, and pop. They will make a different dish each day, but you can call ahead and they will make what you want. In close proximity/walking distance you will find Fork Restaurant, 2 East Coast trails, and the Molly Bawn puffin/whale tour. We especially liked the whale house for privacy and a relaxed ambiance. Thanks, Amanda, our host of the Whale House

We had been moved here from another accommodation by our tour operator and we were disappointed with what we found. The hot tub was nice, but kept at too high a temperature to enjoy for very long. We had absolutely no interaction with anyone from beginning to end of a 2 night stay, which was not very welcoming and gave us no opportunity to ask about lowering the hot tub temperature. There is no sitting area in the room and the hot tub takes up all the deck space. The windows in the room are high up so there is no view at all - all makes for a very claustrophobic feel. Cooking facilities are extremely limited, unless you are lucky to have nice weather and use the barbecue m which we weren’t!
Lots of notices up everywhere about environmental issues which were not very welcoming - we know what we need to do, are doing it, and we don’t need to be reminded while on holiday!
Would not return, sorry

We booked the Humpback Room because of the hot tub and ocean view. There was not much of a view. The trees and vegetation does not allow for any view of the Ocean. The room is very small and nowhere to sit except for two wooden chairs. No place to put any of your clothes away.

It may not be so bad but there is no other place on the property to sit outside. The weather was great but beside the bench outside our door there was not place to sit not even on the deck with the hot tub.

They should also let you know before you arrive about some of their rules. There is a slgn above the toilet that only pee and poop goes into the toilet. Anything you use to wipe is to go into the garbage can beside the toilet.

All in all it was not what we expected.

We choose the whale house inn as a getaway as a new mom and dad. We had the humpback room. Which to our surprise there was no sitting area other than the bed and no tv. We find that quite odd as that’s pretty standard in all rooms. The room was quite tiny for the price. Another issue was that never ever have I stayed somewhere and you could hear your neighbours late at night. Every move they took.
A major issue is that the hot tub definitely isn’t being kept clean. When we got in the tub we noticed that the water felt slimy. Which me think maybe that’s the chemicals they use. We continued in it for 10 mins and got out. Then.. i developed a rash that is known as hot tub folliculitis. Which left pimple like bumbs over my torso. I did bring this to the whale house inn’s attention they offered a free stay. I did refuse because of the cleanliness. I did ask for some type of refund not necessarily 100% but then they ignored my email.

We stayed in the Humpback suite, equipped with a queen bed and hot tub. We had an ocean view. Yes with the vegetation, you have to stand up in the hot tub to see the ocean but nevertheless it was a gorgeous view and very relaxing. The room itself had a small galley kitchen with toaster oven, microwave, fridge, kettle, coffee maker and sink. Dishes and linens are provided. Bathroom was new and modern. Ample storage. Walking trails a few feet away with spectacular views. As others have said, you can hear other guests walking above but with quiet time at 10pm, all guests were respectful of this.

This was my second time at the whale house. First time I stayed in the larger suite, second time in the humpback whale suite. The property is beautiful as is the suite itself unfortunately there were several issues. When we arrived we noticed The bedding had stains on it and the bathroom mirror was covered in what looked to be toothpaste stains. The hot tub area is beautiful but not at all private. If you are in the main suite, the windows look directly down into the humpbacks hot tub, which was uncomfortable and not private at all, if there was a wooden barrier like on the other side, it would make it much better. They had a couple shorter sheer looking curtains put up, but with the wind it barely covered one section of the hot tub. I attached a picture to show where the above suite window is. For $200+ a night, a couple sheer curtains for privacy just wasn’t sufficient. The bed was very comfy but whatever area is above the room, was very noisy. We could hear people talking, laughing and walking around until we’ll into 5am in the morning. We made the most of it but for the price, you can do much better. The larger suite is more private and wasn’t as noisy from my previous experience. The host was friendly and fast at communicating. I hate to give a negative review but reviews are what I like to check before booking a place. Hopefully the issues can be corrected, as it is such a gorgeous place!

This was a beautiful location to stay. Only steps away from the trailhead of the Tinker Trail part of the East Coast Trail, and close to the Mobile Trail (to Witless Bay) where we saw whales, seal, and sea birds. The location was quaint, we pulled up to ducks and blue jays, and the garden in the back is beautiful. The room was clean (had to put toilet paper in a garbage and not flush and there are ducks around if that’s a no for you), but we loved every part of our stay.

I will say props to the photographer because the photos were beautiful but certainly not accurate. I'm not sure if the suite in the photo actually exists but it certainly was not we found when checking into the Humpback Whale Suite. This was a very expensive stay for one of the worst rooms I've ever stayed in. Fortunately we did not have to eat there because i would not have wanted to use the old toaster oven or microwave or the dirty BBQ outdoors with its accompanying rusted BBQ tools. The bed was not queen size and was up against a wall. You certainly don't want to spend any amount of time in this room. There was only one restaurant open in the area and no grocery store that we found. The only redeeming feature was the hot tub but certainly not for the price we were charged.
