Is this a glamorous hotel? not really...

Are the rooms clean and the beds comfortable? yes...

This is a basic hwy side inn on 28 as you head north to Bancroft. The 2 bed room came to less than $80 taxes in for a November stay.

Room Amenities:
1 chair, 1 small table, 1 end table, 1 mini fridge, TV (didn't watch any to report on channels), microwave

Restaurant (greasy spoon) onsite and open from breakfast until 7pm.

The sign says "Homemade Juicy Hamburger"---and you think that's the name of the restaurant. But it's the restaurant attached to the Apsley Inn. Has a country atmosphere........lots of windows so you can look at the beautiful outdoor scenery as you eat. The hamburgers? OK. I suspect the burger patties are pre-made, but could be wrong. They tasted fine. Also had a Greek Salad........and considering it's out in 'the sticks', I guess that was ok too. Iceberg lettuce (which I personally don't mind), the cucumber was fresh and the feta cheese tasty. Unfortunately they use sliced Italian olives rather than nice Greek Kalamata olives. But I liked the dressing. Service was friendly and quick........actually it was one young man who did everything; took the order, made the salad, cooked the burger, etc.

Stayed 4 nights at this motel. Upon arrival had lunch which led much to be desired. The room has drive up which is nice, had a nice view of the river behind the motel and had newer floors, a mini-fridge and microwave. The bed sheets were clean however, I felt that was the only thing clean in the room. There was a salad bowl in the bathroom with 3 wrapped soaps, dust, a dead fly and 2 half used tiny shampoo bottles. The toilet paper was the thinnest 1 ply I have ever experienced and I've worked in the hotel industry 20 years. Our last day upon checking out and waiting for family to meet up with us, running late we decided to have breakfast and it was delicious however the waitress said that cook is gone as of Wednesday. I only gave this place a 3 because of the redeeming breakfast, otherwise it would've been a one. The bathtub surround was cracked/broken/peeling in the shower and baseboards varying colours of water stain and rotting. Only stayed because it's the only motel in Apsley.

Apsley, is a small town in Ontario. Near the town are several cottaging lakes with thousands of three season and year round cottages and local residents. It’s a commonly held belief at least in Ontario, that a town is just a collection of buildings and businesses until it has a Chinese Food restaurant.

If that’s true then drive by...you will drive right by the Apsley Inn, a sixties-era motel with a restaurant on one end that advertises Homemade Juicy Burgers.

But you’re gonna park ‘cause you know the secret. You’ve already called and asked them for a dinner for say, four.

There is no menu. There was no arguing about who wanted what, and you didn’t have to choose between this but order that because your wife likes it. You have faith that the choice has been made for you and you will have a lovely dinner.

And it’s Indian food. Not Chinese.

And it IS lovely. Samosas, Roti, Naan, butter chicken, pecora, lentils, (always a vegetarian dish), fragrant rice. Dessert, too.

And the flavours are authentic, even, and balanced. Mild but the heat is gladly added to order.

The owner and his wife are courteous and prompt.

It’s a local secret. Order and pickup. Nice.

I picked up dinner for four tonight and as I was chatting with the proprietor I heard a snap-crunch near the grill. I took a peek around and saw the chef cut into a sizzlingly crisp Reuben.

How many soggy Reubens have you had to scarf down? Me too.

So a home made juicy burger becomes possible. You can eat-in, too.

Just south of the Ontario Town of Apsley.

we called around lunchtime to pick up Indian food for dinner in the late afternoon. They were very accommodating of our dietary restrictions (some gluten free and some vegetarian), we picked up the perfect amount of food and great variety of dishes. Mild but flavourful! this is a gem on hwy 28!! will order again for sure.

Ordered take out Indian food dinner. Food was delicious (just the right amount of spice) and plentiful. Owners were very accommodating and respectful of Covid precautions.
Will definitely order takeout again and hope to eat in when the world returns to normal.

Great Indian food and comfortable motel room. The owners are very friendly. They spend time making the food to ensure it is fresh and delicious. Rooms are budget-friendly. No pets are allowed. Close to lots of amenities.

The couple who run this terrific place are so hospitable! The Canadian and Indian food is terrific! Rooms are clean and comfortable. Good coffee is hard to find these days but not at this Inn! Breakfast was done on a professional restaurant grill. Although I would have preferred a cheaper rate, the hospitality of the owners and terrific food was most welcome. I even got a few free coffees!

Great location but the people that run it clearly don’t care about the property or the business
Very rude at front desk and the room was so dirty it was a disgrace and at full price .... no wonder this motel was empty on a long weekend
Next time I’ll just sleep in a tent or my truck ..... or a dumpster in town !

I try not to be cruel but this was the worse motel I have ever seen. The room was small and dated. The mattress stunk. No wireless. Go into town and sleep in a dumpster. It will be more comfortable. Unfortunately it was late and the only place available in town. As a plus I did have breakfast at the dinner next door and it was good.
