We stayed at the place for 2 nights in early October and it was absolutely lovely! A hidden jewel in the South part of Ontario! The hosts: Margo and Keith were absolutely wonderful! You can tell they were prepared and did go above and beyond! So friendly! In our room we found a pillow with this writing on it: COME AS GUESTS AND LEAVE AS FRIENDS! I think they meant every word of it! And they live by what they say! THANK YOU so very much, Margo and Keith! We really enjoyed our stay!

Omstead's is indeed right on Lake Erie. Even has a little beach for swimming. Alas, water too cold. But we enjoyed a lovely drink outside watching the sun/ water/birds. Margo even brought us some salmon spread and hummus to enjoy with our drinks. Lovely dinner- upscale fish tacos with a lovely apple galette for dessert. Then Margo offered several suggestions for breakfast, and we decided on French toast with maple bacon.....more about breakfast later in this review. We retired to our rooms. We are two female friends and we enjoy travelling together but we like our own rooms/ bathrooms. Rooms were absolutely lovely. The online photos don't do it justice. Beautiful sheets, cozy towels, lots of light, mini fridge, coffee maker, everything anyone could want. We felt so pampered. Breakfast OMG! We started with coffee and coconut yogurt with fruit on top. Then on to french toast. And a cinnamon sugar muffin as well. So delicious! Kept us full until dinner time. Breakfast the second morning just as spectacular. We really enjoyed our two nights. Can't wait to come back! Thanks for a great stay Margo!

This was our first time “ever” staying at a BnB. It was more than we expected. We were met, after our five hour drive, by Margo and Keith and after showing us to our room we were offered a lovely glass of wine (beer for my hubby!) and a light snack with homemade bread. Our room and ensuite were beautifully decorated and great little details added. The grounds are beautiful, right on Lake Erie with many spots to sit and relax. I could go “on and on” but suffice to say we have already booked for next year. I told Margo that I could find nothing to complain about…….BUT….unfortunately I have to report there was one thing. The waves were too big for us to swim!!!! LOL We wish Margo and Keith many more happy and healthy years to enjoy their wonderful BnB. Thank you both. ANN & BOB

From just walking up the the residence, Margo, the owner walked out to meet us. She was very pleasant and explained the business and area. She showed us to our room and pointed out the supplies offered. She asked us as to what time we preferred taking our breakfast. The room and attached bathroom were very neat and tidy. The outside grounds were immaculate and scene off onto the water was glorious. We dropped off our luggage and departed for our family function which was only a half a kilometer down the road. We arrived back at the BNB at around midnight and had no problem getting in with the combination. In the morning I was able to grab a coffee while Margo was preparing the breakfast. I sat outside at one of the three patio areas and watched the sun come up over the water. After a couple of great coffees we had a beautiful breakfast and met the other owner Keith. He was also very pleasant and answered all the questions that we inquired about. The breakfast starter was cream peaches on Greek yougart with rum spiked organic honey. Then came the spite pickeral and egg Benedict with hollandaise sauce on fresh baked bread with roasted potatoes and blistered peppers. Then came the the home baked lemon rosemary scones. There was one other couple in the dining area also enjoying the breakfast. We then stepped outside at the patio again to enjoy a coffee. Keith came and sat with us and Margo asked if my partner, Beth, would enjoy of glass of wine with her, which of course she did and the four of us sat for an hour and talked about many subjects. The experience staying at Omstead's on Erie BNB was wonderful and plans are already in the making to reserve our room again if the family reunion is to go ahead next year. This establishment has my top recommendation. Michael St. Laurent

We stayed at this place last summer and it was one of the best vacations and definitely, the best vacation during the restrictions and worries associated with COVID time; the serenity of the place and the wonderful company of the hosts made my family‘s experience unique and memorable. I haven’t written a review until now because I felt I didn’t have enough words to make justice to this place and its owners. However, I was looking at photos taken during our stay and I felt so happy that my family had this amazing experience. It is worth to mention the place is very clean, bright ( 5-star hotel quality in a cottage look) and the meals offered by Margo are a Michelin worth culinary experience.

Where do I begin? This B&B experience was outstanding from start to finish. The hosts, Margo and Keith, are the most friendly we have ever met. We felt like we were family. Breakfast each morning was a great start to our day. The food was always beautifully presented, delicious, varied and plentiful. Margo made great homemade baked goods too! She also packed us a picnic lunch to take to Point Pelee. As well, Margo and Keith made us wood fired pizza one evening for dinner. Margo is very knowledgeable about food sensitivities and enthusiastically worked around my intolerances. Margo’s attention to detail was evident throughout our entire stay. She changed the table settings (dishes, cutlery, tablecloth/placemats) each time we ate! Our bedroom had a fresh flower from the garden, our ensuite a towel warmer, many toiletries and different water glasses and bath towels daily. We also enjoyed the location - right on the lake - with different sitting areas both inside and out where we could play cards and games. What a fabulous getaway!!

I've stayed at a lot of places, including some very upscale, but this one was something special. Staying here was like staying with dear friends, if one of those friends just happens to be a world-class chef. Margo is a fantastic host, very welcoming, with lots of good conversation and great recommendations for local things to see and places to eat. The property is beautiful, overlooking Lake Erie, with beachfront access and patio furniture where you can relax and listen to the waves. The cottage rooms have comfortable beds and lots of classy touches of detail. All of that is great, but the breakfasts alone are worth the price of admission. Sure, you can request bacon and eggs if you're boring, but culinary treasures await the more adventurous who are willing to let Margo prepare some of her amazing specialty dishes. Every meal that we had was full of surprising flavor combinations and attention to detail. Practically everything is homemade, homegrown, or locally-sourced, save a few exotic ingredients that she had obtained during her own travels. Three courses and generous portion sizes make it nearly impossible to leave hungry. If you haven't figured it out yet, I'd whole-heartedly recommend staying at Omstead's.

My husband and I stayed in this lovely B&B for two nights over the Labor Day weekend and we were very pleased with warm cosines and cleanness of the house and extreme hospitality of the owners Margo and Keith. We were aware of the special breakfasts at this place but anyway we were blown away by extraordinary and variety of delicious meals Margo cooked every morning. Really, it is very hard not to be spoiled. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed our pre-breakfast swimming at the private beach and a glass of wine or beer while relaxing on a patio after long days of exploring this beautiful Southern Ontario area. I would recommend this place everybody who is seeking a quiet and relaxing break from a noisy and rushing city life or just needs a short stop while traveling the area.
