Have you noticed that county/state parks generally get better reviews than comparable private parks? I’m not sure why that is. We chose this location since we wanted to visit both Everglades NP and Biscayne NP and it is more or less equidistant to both. The campground is part of a large park which includes a lake and water park (not...

This little known gem is an urban county park/campground in the Cutler Ridge area south of Miami. It is adjacent to Zoo Miami and close to many of the attractions in the southern part of Miami. It is about 30 miles to the Keys. The campground is spacious, clean and laid out in a manner that maximizes open space. Each...

We stayed one night here, and arrived late. The gate was 1/2 closed, so I had to open it to get the camper in, then I put it back when we were through. The night guard helped me pick out a spot, by having me climb on board his cart and he drive me around, nascar-style, to look at the...

Nice, clean and quite. Tons of beautiful trails and plenty of nature. Water slide and natural beach lake. Very safe and centrally located next to the turnpike. Several restaurants, shops, gas and groceries very close by.

We loved this campground. We stayed in the tent area which is mostly in the shade area and near bathrooms and the pool. Next time we will go later in the season so as to take advantage of the neighboring beach and picnic area.

While travelling around the US with kids there are two things I look for in an rv park - a pool and a playground. This RV park had advertised both along with a waterslide into a lake. You can imagine our annoyance when we pulled up to find the pool is only open on weekends and the playground and dilapidated...

After 4 weeks traveling and camping with my family and staying in state parks, county parks, national parks and private RV campgrounds I never felt as unwelcome as I did at Larry and Penny Thompson Park! We stayed here for 2 nights on our way to the Keys and could not wait to leave. For the most part the park...

We stayed here for two nights while passing through Miami on our way to the keys. Arriving at night was easy, except that finding the entrance off Eureka Rd was tricky in the dark. The security guard showed us to our campsite, and when we woke to find a beautifully tree-canopied park right next to Zoo Miami...it was perfect! The...

Larry and Penny Thompson Park is a Rv'ers winter dream. Great park with mostly very good facilities. Good walking and biking, close to shopping and south Florida activities. The park caters to long term winter RVs. The sites are mostly very good with pods 10 & 11 being the worst. Price is great at $565 per month. The entire campground...

My wife and I spent 5 nights at this campgrounds. We were very surprised, considering it is in the middle of a residential neighborhood, at just how nice and quiet it was. All of the sites are very large and the ground is very flat. All of the roads are paved and the bathrooms/laundry rooms were very clean. The night...
