I was in Miami for a conference and on a tight budget, and this hotel came recommended, I guess because it's walking distance from the convention center. The staff were nice enough. However, the room was tiny and had just a bed and a TV, no chair or closet to hang clothes. The carpet was so old and grey I... More

Stayed here for 4 days at the beginning of our trip. Cheap and great location for a bargain price!! Loads of bars and resturants near and just a few blocks from the beach, also the staff were nice and helpful. They had computers you are able to use for only a dollar. Would recommend to anyone.

When we arrived the room had not been cleaned. There were towels and dirty linens thrown about. It also had a funny smell. We went out for a bit and it was cleaned by the time we returned. It was still pretty musty smelling and not very clean, but it was cheap and in a good location so we thought... More

The Clay Hotel is old and knowing that we were not surprised that it had no elevator and the water had to run for several minutes before it was hot. Also, spotlessly clean was not possible. However, we loved the place. The location couldn't be any better for the price with an easy walk to everything of interest in South... More

The Clay has a great location, on a charming little side street right off Washington, lined with sidewalk cafes. That is where the upside ends. The lobby, which has an Old Miami Beach feel, is not connected to the rest of the hotel...which in fact is NOT a hotel, but a dorm-style hostel, which is cool, if that's all you... More

If you want atmosphere, history, a great location - you got it. The Clay has hostel accomodation (dorm-style) and different categories of rooms with privatze or semi-private baths. Some are a little worn, but that's part of the atmosphere. Rooms directly adjacent to Espanola Way can be noisy though.

It was alright, the only bad part is it's right above one of the main strips, and it was an all night party. Kept me up for most of the night.

Loved the local. Right in the middle of South Beach. Rooms were clean and simple. Street side is a little noisy. Valet guys kinda sketchy. But overall great value. Would totally stay there again.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Clay for 6 nights over NYE 2009/10. I was a little disappointed at the small size of the rooms when I first arrived, but these thoughts were short-lived and we found them very adequate for our needs. The lack of Wi-Fi in the rooms was also frustrating, and it can be very noisy... More
