Axel Beach Miami boasts a prime location favored by guests for its closeness to the beach and local hotspots, though caution is advised regarding additional fees. While the hotel's cleanliness and artistic ambiance are often praised, some visitors note issues with room upkeep and dated decor. A mix of experiences with service quality, from friendly to slow and unresponsive, has been reported alongside dissatisfaction with extra charges. Moreover, the atmosphere can get noisy, and amenities such as the pool and breakfast options have left several guests underwhelmed.

My recent stay at Axel Beach Miami was a mix of positives and a couple of challenges. Despite a minor hiccup with the room key initially, the swift resolution by the attentive staff turned this into a testament to their efficiency and dedication.

The hotel's prime location, friendly staff, and the inviting pool area contributed significantly to the overall positive experience. The room, while slightly worn in the bathroom department, offered an art deco chic that only a hotel in Miami could pull off. The bed was huge and very comfy, the sheets especially soft yet crisp and clean.

On a negative my room was next to a cross walk which beeped none stop, unfortunately this did keep me awake at night.

The basic but satisfactory breakfast and the overall resilience of the hotel in resolving issues leave me with a positive impression. Despite the minor inconveniences, Axel Beach Miami's charm and the dedication of its staff make it a place I will be revisiting in the future.

My boyfriend and I booked two nights at the Axel Beach for our anniversary off the Hopper app. When we walked in we were immediately set at ease. The front desk staff was warm, and the star of our stay was Juli! Upon learning it was a special trip for us, she was able to get us a beautiful room, which was well-appointed and clean. She had a kind way about her that made us feel so welcome, which in an unfamiliar city made us feel at ease. We enjoyed our experience at the hotel so much, we booked an extra night! Thank you Juli.

The pool was lovely, and the beach access extremely easy and convenient. Drinks at the bar were delicious. The hotel's location is in easy walking distance to all the fun South Beach has to offer. Even our bougie friends who live in Miami said they were impressed by the hotel when they stopped by for a drink. Will definitely be back!

Stumbled across this property during a last minute booking for an impromptu Miami trip with my best friend. It was our first time staying at an Adult Only hotel. But we were very thrilled of the fact that we didn't have to worry about any screaming little children running around the hotel, especially the pool area. Upon arriving to the hotel, Javi was very accommodating in finding us available rooms for an early check-in. Loved the overall look and feel of the hotel. It definitely gives off that beachy Art Deco vibe you would expect from a Miami hotel. Rodrigo at the front desk was also very welcoming and helpful. Only thing I would note is that the hotel music that plays in the lobby and outside the hotel starts promptly at 9:30am and can be a natural wake up alarm depending where your room is located. The complementary umbrella in the room was also helpful for that little bit of liquid sunshine that can occur during your stay. The hotel is within walking distance of south beach and all of the restaurant and shops it has to offer. Overall I enjoyed my stay at Axel and would recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Hotel with good location, very friendly at reception.
The pool very large with sunbeds and umbrellas great.
The breakfast was pretty fair...mould bread, jam, juice, croissants and a freshly prepared omelet. Miss some fruit.
It has a non-working hot tub and a wet spa. There is no dry sauna.
The room very spacious but with a tiny old bathroom, with few products like gel, we had to order more the second day as we were two people and only gave us for 3 days a 30ml bottle.
Leaving your bags after check out costs $5 for each bag.
Bus stop is 5 minutes away and takes you to the airport, bus 150.
It's a bit dated overall but the hotel is fine.

I’m a regular Axel (Europe) customer, staying at Axel Gran Canaria, Axel Madrid, Axel Berlin & most recently Axel Barcelona prior to Axel Miami. Axel Miami was a huge disappointment. I booked as I do with any Axel stay via Expedia. On arrival I was asked to pay a $43 per night resort fee (Mandatory) which is to use any facilities such as pool, jacuzzi, gym, steam room & sauna. As it was mandatory (yet not disclosed prior to booking) I paid it as I had no option. Then I am asked for a further $300 refundable security deposit as they ask all customers to pay this at Axel Miami. Again a further hidden charge that you have no option but to pay as there is nothing you can do once you’ve booked and turned up. Appreciate it’s refundable but what if you turn up & don’t have an extra $300 plus each nights $43 resort fee?
I had booked for 3 nights so I paid an extra $427 on top of what I paid for the room per night. As for the resort fee, nothing worked! - apart from a small gym and a pool everything else was broken. Jacuzzi was purely a tub of warm water no bubbles as it was broken. Steam room & Sauna were out of order - so what exactly was I paying a $43 per night resort fee for? To sit on their chairs?
I checked out early by not even staying the 3rd night. Despite checking out and leaving the room in the same state it was in my security deposit was NOT refunded automatically as I was advised. I chased by emailing them via Expedia several times they did NOT respond. Avoid!!

I personally would not book the Axel Miami Beach again, the location is great, but the Hotel is not comparable with Axel Hotels in Europe (Berlin or Barcelona at least). We are currently staying at the Axel, we are in a “premium superior room”, the size of the room is sufficient, the style is rather simple but okay. Unfortunately not as clean as we would expect, we just informed the reception staff, we’ll see if it is better after cleaning. The biggest problem is the noise, but this is probably due to the age of the building. In addition, our room has a connecting door, so we can hear every word our neighbors say.

The hotel complex consists of several buildings and unfortunately not really well maintained. In my opinion, everything looks a bit tatty. The location of the hotel and the distance to the beach (1 block) are very good. Free beach beds are available for hotel guests on the beach, as well as beach towels. Unfortunately, an umbrella costs 20 USD extra, which we were not told at reception upon checking.

The breakfast is ridiculous - at least if you compare it to European standards. Unfortunately, it's becoming more and more common in the US, although even for the US continental breakfast standard it is - in my opinion- really, really poor. There's toast, butter, jam and croissants. Also scrambled eggs, coffee and juice. You can order additional food for an extra charge, but we decided not to. And unfortunately I had an unpleasant conversation with one of the waitresses (I think she was the manager on that shift). I went to get a new coffee while my boyfriend got another toast, wasn't even a minute away from the table when she started clearing everything away. When I pointed out to her (I was disappointed with the breakfast, so perhaps a bit curt, but not rude) that I wasn't finished with breakfast yet, she reacted quite unfriendly. When I asked her about it, she laughed at me provocatively with a very rude expression on her face. I have rarely experienced anything so rude and the discussion escalated somewhat. I would have expected a head waitress to act more confidently here.

Right now we honestly regret having booked this hotel, luckily we are here for just another night and we enjoy the beach and the location to the Miami Beach nightlife. As mentioned, we would not book the hotel again, not sure if the brand Axel Hotels is doing itself a favor with this hotel.

What a disappointment! VERY far from the official photos!

Very friendly staff and little care, but ... the rest is a real disaster.

Pension in a state of advanced dilapidation, nothing to do with the photos on the website.
The pool was in a state that leaves to be desired: the balloons were covered with mold, the deckchairs were covered with a blue terry fabric in a state of advanced dirt that did not allow me to lie on it, pool filled with leaves and water not very clear, Jacuzzi without bubbles... in short not top!
A room that smells moldy , shelf rusty bathroom, curtain of the room stained with blood (!) , windows covered with mold (see photos ) and the worst the water that flows from the ceiling into the room when it rains.... We alerted the reception who sent us a person who just passed a mop and did not even rehouse us in another room! Inconceivable!
Total lack of soundproofing ( compulsory earplug if you want to sleep ).
Very succinct breakfast (coffee and bread crumbs , and 2 scrambled eggs only, everything else is charged). Served very late, not before 8:00.
The front terrace at the entrance of the Inn has 2 garden furniture in a dismal condition (dirty cushion and totally obsolete furniture)
At 600€ the 3 nights I still expected a little more comfort and consideration!
Silly atmosphere (no party , music went from 7am until midnight, why? it's really uncomfortable) away from the festive Gay atmosphere promised on the site. Pension 80% full of hero who looks at us like fair animals when we walk through the lobby.
Parking at $45 per night!! Are you serious? I recommend public parking at $20 per day just 5 minutes walk!
This is a shame because it is a concept that can have potential but the property owner maintains absolutely nothing and does not care about his customers.
Very overrated bordering on fucking!... because we are in Miami we have to accept this without saying anything? I don't understand!
I absolutely do not recommend this Inn to Gays or others!

The hotel from the outside bodes well, but once inside and then in the room you realize that there is really a lot to do (and spend) to restore it to its former glory. The pool area is very nice but neglected, the breakfast included is really poor, if you want more you have to pay handsomely. Rooms are old-fashioned, with old furniture and damaged parquet. We stayed there 2 nights, but after the first we had the room changed because we could not sleep a wink for the noise and noise coming from outside. Obviously there was no soundproofing. Not everything is throwaway, the beds are comfortable and at reception we found courtesy and availability. It is also a stone's throw from Ocean Drive. But honestly I do not Recommendation...

My husband and I stayed at the AxelBeach hotel for a total of 5 nights. I am originally from Berlin, Germany and enjoyed multiple great stays at the original Axel hotel in Berlin. Unfortunately, AxelBeach Miami is not really a gay hotel. While the hotel clearly embraces diversity and inclusion, the vast majority of guests are straight couples. The hotel staff is extremely friendly, but it does not make up for the hotel’s major flaws: 1. Hotel and rooms are poorly cleaned (if you are lucky enough to get housekeeping service for your room, expect bare minimum services such as new towels, shaking up of beds and an empty trash can. Otherwise, the rooms are not cleaned). 2. Location and quality of guests: the hotel is situated on a very busy (and sketchy) street. We did not feel comfortable walking on the streets at night. The fellow guests were loud and inconsiderate. Expect the smell of weed in the hallways, loud music well past midnight outside of your window and in other rooms. The walls are literally paper thin and several of our neighbors were engaged in loud fights at night and screaming that could be heard in our room as though we were in the same room. 3. Price of food & drinks: while we did not eat at the hotel, we had bad filter coffee out of a thermos can for $5. When we asked for free refills, our waitress told us that refills are not included. Luckily, the hotel manager walked by our table and saw our surprised faces - she allowed us to have free refills. Cocktails are of poor quality, not tasty and overpriced. The bar keeper charged us $22 for one gin & tonic served in thick plastic “glasses”. Overall, we would not recommend this hotel to anyone. If you want to have a good time and relax and you identify as LQBTQI, stay away from this cheap hotel! AxelBeach should market itself for what it truly is: a cheap motel.

For those that know the Axel Brand for their hotels in Europe then this one is going to come as shock, it's nothing like their other hotels.

This hotel is a failed relic of Miami with very little money being put into the hotel by the Axel group.

Poor rooms, peeling paint in bathrooms, poor plumbing, (don't expect a hot shower you are going to be disappointed)

Outrageous resort fee a pure rip off, a pool full of leaves , overpriced drinks, a tiny gym, a holding / security deposit that you have to chase up getting a refund for.

Reception staff are pleasant but everything is nickle and dime, even as a guest if you want to leave your bags after checkout for an hour or 2 it will cost you.

Bed sheets and towels had long hairs on them, it's just poor poor poor. Certainly no incentive to go back and the rooms are NOTHING like they appear in publicity
