We were having a New Year Family gathering so wanted somewhere we could have a conversation, informal atmosphere but good quality food. This ticked all the boxes, the menu was slightly alcohol orientated but the food and service made for a very welcome surprise, this was better than your usual pub grub, there was plenty of room and we noticed....

Our second visit with family, this time for a Christmas meal. Wonderfully warm, traditional pub welcome. Quirky eating areas, and a menu with so much choice for a set price for 2/3 courses under £20.00. we were generally spoilt for choice. Staff are friendly and helpful and when the food arrives plates are full of very tasty hot food. I...

I stayed with my partner for one night in the Pig room. We booked online and received a hearty welcome on arrival. Enjoyed the atmosphere of what out to be a lively and popular country inn. The choice of beers and ales was excellent and the menu extensive. Food was reasonably priced but my choice of a curry was disappointing....

Stayed at the Sun Inn for 1 night as in the area for work. They only have 3 rooms and we booked them all. The rooms were clean, modern and very good value, the rest of the Inn was also nicely decorated and fresh. We ate dinner and breakfast at the Sun Inn and both meals were excellent, ingredients seemed...

We just called in for drinks and ended up staying 3 hours and having lite bites food. The ale and food were excellent and the owner and waitress couldn't have been better. We arrived as customers and left as friends.

My Family & I went to Ellesmere for a few days & The Sun Inn was the closest Pub serving food to where we were staying, having researched Pubs, Inns & restaurants before our trip this seemed a safe bet. The Barman was friendly & chatty & the pub itself seemed popular with locals & there was a good atmosphere...

Lovely meals well presented friendly atmosphere... however, sorry to say woefully understaffed, felt like we did not exist, food took far to long to arrive, 50mins. Bar man overloaded, thus not able to notice order that customers arrived at the bar for service. This is not a criticism of the staff on duty but of the management for leaving it...

Good Afternoon, Thank you for your comments. I must apologise for your slow service. We have been caught out earlier in the week (Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays) over the Summer Holidays. For example last Tuesday we had no one booked, normally we do between 20-30 covers on a Tuesday night which is fine for one experienced member of staff but last...

Friendly welcome by Tom, all the staff were very good. Room was great, spotless and well equipped. Breakfasts were fantastic with a good selection. Stayed Fri' to Sun' walked to Ellesmere along the canal then back around the mere and through the fields in time for a very good evening meal on Saturday. Very good selection of real ales, look...
