We arrived after 2 flights from the UK and it was almost midnight, so we were extremely tired. Check in took a while as only one man on duty trying to do everything. When we got to our room, there was no fridge, microwave, safe or coffee maker. We returned downstairs and were given a alternative room, again no microwave or coffee maker. We were so tired we just went to bed. During our 16 night stay we had to go to reception many times for towels as they were taken but clean ones not left, toilet paper wasn't left and one day our keys stopped working as the hotel thought we'd checked out. Housekeeping came every 2 days but only made the bed, never changed the sheets, and she emptied the bin. The bathroom or toilet was never cleaned, table never wiped over, floor never swept or mopped. Found her extremely rude when we asked her to do any extra. We saw lots of small insects running around the table area and 2 cockroaches, but had taking our own spray to use. The pillows are so thin, the are useless and the beds are just filthy mattresses on a wooden base. Not at all comfortable. No fire escape information in the room, and not sure I'd the smoke alarm was working, I wouldn't have thought so. The hotel has an awful smell of weed coming out of several rooms. Looking at some of the residents, I can't believe they are tourists but look like homeless people who are staying in the hotel. They wander around and made me feel quiet unsafe. No games room, ticket sales or gym facilities as advertised. On our last day we used the pool as we weren't being collected until 5pm. The sunbeds were new, but that was the only positive. Pool area is very old and needs refurbishment. The pool itself was OK but not the cleanest. While sitting at the pool you can see how dirty the rooms are, several don't even have windows just plastic covers. We went to the toilets near reception so we could get changed. The ladies were locked and one of the men's was locked. The only one open was a disabled toilet but the floor and toilet pan were covered in faeces which had been smeared around. We asked to use the restaurant toilets next door instead. I could go on the place is filthy, and I would never return. The only positives are the location and the reception staff. I feel for them dealing with constant complaints which are not their fault.

Do NOT stay HERE! Where do I begin?? *Check-in is a 30-60 minute ordeal for EVERYONE. *100 SURPRISE DEPOSIT is required on top of the $5 a day service fee for services that are never provided. *SCAM ALERT!!! PAYPAL CALL then TEXT about a SCAM ALERT WITHIN MINUTES OF CHECK-IN!!! Do NOT enter code or respond to this CALL that then sends a text with a code!! This has happened to MANY other guests here (I found this comment in the reviews of others, as well) *The ROOM AMENITIES you THINK you are getting, most likely won’t be in the room (i e Mini Fridge, Microwave, coffee maker, LIGHT BULBS FOR THE LAMP!!!!) I listened to 2 guests try to leave and get a refund because of this and NO a internet in their rooms, B4 I had even finished check in. So, I asked how they were going to make sure those amenities were in MY room? The desk clerk said, “just ask if they aren’t and we’ll bring them right up.” They WEREN’T ( except for coffee maker) and trust me , they DIDN’T!!! We checked in or began check in at 10:00 pm, with reservations, finally got to the room around 11:00. * no mini fridge *no microwave * no lightbulb in lamp* We tried to call “0” for front desk and of course there was no answer ( other guests at check in were complaining about the same thing and it wasn’t even busy!) I kept my child up and we drove to the front to request the missing things. The response, “We’ll have that right to you.” DIDN’T HAPPEN! After 8 more UNANSWERED front desk calls and another DRIVE to the front desk to ask in person, with the same response, I gave up at 1 am . Next morning we asked again and we’re assured it would be in room when we got back from the Amusement park. We got the mini fridge and microwave, but no lightbulb. The maids came and left us with ONE towel, yes…ONE. *portable Dehumidifier leaked all over floor when the drainage hose fell out of a simple hole that was drilled in the wall!!! Front desk was informed, but no one ever checked it or offered to clean up the mess. There was a TWO INCH GAP under our door, where it had never been properly finished. So, we got to smell the weed aroma in our room, that was thick in the hallways our entire stay there. Awesome! Especially with a small child in tow. The flooring appeared to be fairly nice engineered hardwood and fairly new. Unfortunately, the chairs, tables and trash cans had metal bottoms so there were permanent rust stains all over in those areas. What a shame. The flooring was probably the best thing about the room. *BYOM & P (<—-mattress and pillows) OMG this was absolutely the WORST MATTRESS I’ve EVER slept on. It tilted you to the side and you could actually feel the SPRINGS inside the mattress. The pillows were insanely ODD. On each bed was almost a normal standard pillow, but lumpy and low quality along with ONE “1/2 sized????” Lumpy low quality pillow!! ***NO LUGGAGE CARTS*** for this large multi story hotel!!! They claimed there was ONEEE, but we never saw it. *1 ICE MACHINE* enough said* ***DANGEROUS-VIRTUALLY NO PARKING LOT LIGHTING IN THE BACK, BACK, lot*** very scary, always People “hanging around “ at night, lots of used drug paraphernalia—> LOTS of used N2O ( like CO2)cartridges, etc in front of parking spaces, at least in the back. It was obvious that no one tends to the back of the property at all. I have pictures! *The staff-SURPRISINGLY NICE** I felt like they were TRYING the best with all the deficiencies in the overall management of this place. However, there is NO WAY they were going to give any manager or owner contact information out!l, let alone any refunds or comp credits for the horrible experiences it seemed that every guest I came in contact with had. They did give a little computer printed note with an email, which of course gets you nowhere and no response. We were told any refunds had to come from the booking service, NOT THEM! We all know that won’t happen! We checked out one day early because of the conditions in the hotel and hassle of trying to get basic items like lightbulbs and towels , being that NO ONE EVER ANSWERS THE PHONE AT THE FRONT DESK!!!!!! —I have stayed in “cheap motels/hotels” a LOT over the past 45 years…raising 4 kids, we did t mind sacrificing a few niceties, fancy accommodations, and other amenities to save $$ , since we basically only needed a place to sleep. We did, however, expect to get what we reserved as reserved and a generally SAFE environment. Maybe even a few towels and lightbulbs in the lamps. In 45 years of “staying on the cheap” during travel, this hotel would be the WORST I’ve ever stayed in due to the sheer hassle of the check-in AND out, no one answering at front desk, lack of getting room w/amenities we paid for, lack of a reasonably comfortable bed and NORMAL pillows, NO LUGGAGE CARTS (stayed on 3rd floor end of very long hallway), but , especially the lack of safety especially in the back parking lots. This hotel really has huge potential, with the newly renovated flooring and pleasant staff, but they miss the mark on so many basic things, it will ruin your stay and isn’t worth it even for such a low price. The location is fantastic for Universal, but the hotel facilities, upkeep and check-in process with the $100 SURPRISE DEPOSIT ARE just toooo much to make it worth it. Paid for 3 nights, only stayed TWO with no apologies or offers of a discount or refund for the 3rd night. We left because of the conditions at hotel, no one should have to pay for THAT, especially when conditions are so bad, you really have to leave!!! And we have no clue WHAT the $5 a day “resort fee” covers because the maids only came once and left just one towel. That is the ONLY “service” we encountered. The fee AND the $100 surprise DEPOSIT SHOULD BE CLEARLY MENTIONED IN A VISIBLE PLACE ON THE BOOKING WEBSITE! On AGODA.COM, it IS mentioned further down the site in light print bold letters. Very easy to miss!

first of all we get there and the first thing we knowrized is that the place is under some sort of renovation, I mean....you can tell they just slapping paint around, .....that cannot be a legitimate construction company doing that with all the mess laying around everywhere and floors and ceilings full of paint. so we go check in and my welcome was changing rooms 3 times, first one was a room out of order or under construction with the toilet loose and nothing inside, no towels no paper nothing so we go back down to the front desk and they gave us a new set of plastic door keys for the replacement room, those keys never worked, maintenance came and still they couldn't get the room door open themselves..so we go back down to the front desk for a third time to change the room once again, when we get to the third room there was no tv, missing pillows and everything looked so dirty, like when you dont do a good cleaning for a long time...the towels and bed sheets where beige almost on how used and old they were, the bed is super super hard and very uncomfortable, the soap they give you is super thin and old, the room coffee tastes soooo old and bad...I mean...wow...how are these people operating like this?? where are the inspectors or the health department, I was reading other reviews now on this same place and one in particular mention little tiny bugs in the room and yes , the room has like those little ticks the cats and dogs get that are super tiny and jump so quick you cannot even get them. Not to mention they charge you a daily fee and a $100 deposit at check in for a wifi that goes out and access to a pool area that lools like its abandoned...garbage, dust and construction materials stored right next to where you suppose to sit and relax. The treatment at the front desk makes you feel like they hate you instead of making you feel good and welcomed at check in, what a bad attitude....horrible experience...I have to start reading the reviews more often before making my reservations for my next trip. I took a few pictures that speak for themselves but trust me...it's alot more...

We went for a family vacation and based in hotel localization, however It’s an old building with 70 room per floor. The furniture and equipment are old and we could several people living in the hotel. The hotel is full of black mold, I couldn’t stay for one night! Avoid it as maximum as possible.

Rented two rooms at this hotel and we had to checkout immediately. One room had part of the bathroom ceiling draping down and no towels in it. The other room reeked of mold and had standing pools of water on the floor. Also had the mini fridge, ac, and dehumidifier unplugged. Both the mini fridge and dehumidifier had water leaking out. Would not recommend as I am struggling to get my money back as well.

Terrible stay!! The shower had no hot water, the room was dirty, it smelled bad all over the hotel. It seemed that people lived there, they were smoking on the doors, the bathroom sink was dirty and moldy. Horrible run from here! It's not worth the cost benefit to stay here

Just as you would expect from a cheap hotel, very basic, I found cockroaches in my room and was moved to another room which was better.yoing girl on reception was more interested in her food and her friend who was there with a dog, was charged 100 dollars deposit plus local tax, there was no damage as I'm almost 70 but I can't get them to return my money. DONT STAY HERE.

we checked in and immediately checked out. the room was super dinghy and moist. the hotel felt like it had no AC and the room was set to 80. when i tried to call for a refund they said that the room was “used” because we had flipped over the sheets of the bed and it literally had stains on it that’s when we decided we could not sleep here. you don’t even pay for what you get it’s seriously not even worth $20 a night. the staff was not helpful and looked miserable.

I chose the Monumental Movieland for one very specific reason: It's super close to the pick-up point for the *only* activity I came to Orlando for. It wasn't park related. Which is also the reason I didn't choose one of the countless hotels the respective Universal and/or Mouse Mafia provide there. Additional bonus - it's reachable by public bus from the airport. Line 42 is your friend in this town that's built for cars alone. Please note: Card payments are so 21st century so make sure you have 2 dollars in cash or the Lynx PawPass app installed & an account created. Schedules are for whimps but it will come eventually. Anyway, enough about me and my bus fetish. Reading some of the other reviews here... well. Other people seemed to have had a much worse time here than I did. I'm quite unexpecting when it comes to hotels (all I want is a reasonably clean roof over my head, no bells and whistles). That much I got for my two nights there. I did not see any bugs or mold. OK. I did not look for mold to be honest, maybe it's there. What I did notice, however: 1. There is a bad bad smell in the house. It's everywhere. I think it's some cleaning product. 2. The bathroom was clean but in need of some repairs. That toilet? Needed special attention so it wouldn't senselessly sacrifice hectoliters of water for no reason other than the lever not being brutally forced into a horizontal position. Generally, my room was seem plenty outdated but in good shape. Not sure if the bed in could withstand consensual activities of the nocturnal kind. 3. Not sure about the guests. Putting the trash out in front of the hotel room? Um, OK. My first time in Orlando, maybe that's how things are done here? But then, that 100 dollar deposit other reviewers mentioned speaks volumes. There was also some screaming behind closed doors that sounded like drunken lovers quarrels. Alright. Just don't kill each other willya. However, this gives the hotel kind of a halfway house vibe. Not their fault I guess and easily remedied by higher prices. 4. Staff. Never saw anyone but the guy at reception. He didn't seem to care much. Which was a plus in my case because I didn't have to pay the deposit. Just play dumb tourist from a non-english speaking country and you're set, hooray TikTok sized attention span. Still strange since usually there are other staff around, like cleaning, maintenance and such. Nope. Some other reviewer further down mentions a barkeeper. What bar? Must have been in the adjacent steakhouse. Which is OK but nothing to write home about btw. 5. That pool? Oh come on... plant a few trees there, would make more sense. Nobody in their right mind would ever use it while sober. 6. Free Wifi worked very well. No idea where the complaints about it come from. 7. From what I can tell, the location is pretty good if you plan to visit the Universal attractions. There's also good infrastructure around: Walgreen's, KFC, Applebee's, 17.938 Disney gift shops with exactly the same stuff in them, Indian kitchen, Waffle House, Italian restaurant etc. I personally fell in love with a girl at Walgreen's. She works there. Of course she didn't notice me since she sees thousands of pale sunburned customers every day. Of course we will never meet again. Ah, story of my - our - life. Back to the important things. What I do wonder: is the Monumental a smoking hotel? Because there are just not enough notifications. Like, in every elevator, in all the aisles, on the room doors on both sides, multiple in every room and they make you sign at check-in that it's non smoking. So I really don't know. Joke aside, I know the US has tough smoking laws but in this case it raises a serious security concern: people - remember, obviously some weirdos attracted by the low price - go out on the fire stairs to have a smoke. Then they leave the fire doors open. Everybody can just waltz in. No I'm not afraid but there seems to be a problem of that kind in town since the nearby Applebee's refuses to serve a nice steak outside 'when its dark'. Yes. It's true. I tried. 'Dark' as in, no daylight but equally bright artificial lighting. Anyway. Would I recommend the Monumental Movieland Hotel? From what I experienced, yes. If you're in town for one or two nights, sure. Nice location and I personally didn't have a problem with cleanliness or broken stuff (except for the clock radio, a highly outdated concept in the age of smartphones). However, taking into account all the other reviews who have different stories to tell you might consider looking around a bit longer. What would I recommend to the Monumental Movieland Hotel? Get management. Management do quality control. If you let some dude at reception run the whole show by watching TV all day, the show will be over eventually.

The hotel is dirty, woke up in the middle of the night and the bathroom floor was crawling with roaches. No towels or washcloths in room. I go down to get some and get told I have to put in a request for them and they will be brought to me later. Internet is not free. They charge you $5 for internet/cable. I paid online and called to confirm I was paid in full and had a downstairs room before coming. I get there and all of a sudden it's an additional $100 deposit and I'm on second floor. I was told there was a game room and it's zip tied closed. Staff is rude.
