As someone who has stayed in a good number of Disney hotels over the years, this was my first stay in a Universal property. I traveled with my wife and sons (both aged 12) and we stayed for a few nights. This place is fantastic, it has a great theme with 50s vibe, two wonderful pools, but the icing on the cake was the lazy river! Our boys spent hours in that, it was a highlight of the trip. Meals were great with plenty of options, the staff were awesome, and the transport to the Universal parks was reliable and efficient. We’d happily stay here again!

The resort was great. The meal choices were perfect and the people who worked there were wonderful. The room was cleaned every day if you didn’t put the do not disturb sign outside the door. At Disney, you were lucky if they emptied the trash or gave you clean towels.

Excellent value and close proximity to the parks. The hotel dining is terrific, the staff is very friendly, and the free and frequent transportation to CityWalk and the Parks is awesome. I highly recommend for anybody, single, married or family.

Key card did not work for enter the pool areas after they were changed twice. I did observe other guest having the same issue. It was clearly a mechanical malfunction that was not rectified our entire week stay. Also nowhere in the the site does it say you will be charged 20 dollars a day for parking your car at the resort,

My husband and I spent our honeymoon at the Resort. Everyone was very welcoming as we are from out of town. Everywhere you go people are congratulating you and that made us smile. Overall we had a great time!

2 1/2 . I would like to start by saying never again. Not what I expected. 1. The people they have working there are very unpleasant 2. They never greet anyone as you come in the door. 3. The lock to the pool was broken and I could not get it. 4. When I went to have dinner the lady attending there was very rude to the other people that were there. And had a bad attitude. 5. No hand sanitizer at any post though out the hotel

After careful consideration and research into the many parks at the Universal resorts I chose Cabana Bay because of theme, cost, and amenities. I made a good choice. The resort has a wonderful classic 50s theme felt across the property, transporting you back to a time of early family vacation culture. The holidays were also strongly felt as every space was decked out in holiday garland and Christmas trees. The resort covers every need and necessity you may have. There is a restaurant, bowling alley and arcade, full gym, and much more. Although the property is the furthest from the parks, you need not worry as they have shuttles from the resort. Of which I did not take advantage of because there is a wonderful garden walk you can travel to and from the parks. There is also a water taxi you can access from the neighboring resort if you are too tired to walk. And then there is the cost. I found there nightly rate to be very reasonable and a great value overall. On top of that I had a reduced group rate because of might participation in an afterhours event. I toured the other resort hotels and I they are great too, but honestly they feel like any other resort you can visit. Cabana Bay is unique and stands out. I highly recommend it.

Recently had to cancel reservation when stuck in Puerto Rico due to Hurricane Nicole causing closure of Orlando airports. Despite being advised by team member on chat that I could e-mail this Cabana Bay have charged a cancellation fee as I didn’t call. After 2 weeks of back and forth it seems I am stuck with this fee. This despite one team member telling me on a call I would have a full refund (this was then changed by e-mail). During all the communication I had I was told I didn’t need to call, then I did, I was told I would receive a full refund, then I wasn’t. Different information each time so points to a lack of clear policy or poor staff training. Either way unprofessional and frustrating. As an aside I was delayed getting to a Disney hotel in 2017 due to Hurricane Irma and they cancelled my reservation before I arrived. They bought my dinner in the hotel restaurant while the booking was being rearranged and the refund was already in my bank account. That’s customer service. I would advise anyone travelling during hurricane season to avoid Universal as you may get stiffed. Personally I will accept the fee charged as the price of learning that Universal isn’t for me and I wont be back.
