My mum, my sister and I booked a cabin with Microhyttene for 2 nights. The website suggested a fabulous stay in nature with quiet surroundings. This image was first fractured just when we arrived. The host was sharp and abrupt, acted in every other way than welcoming. He was rude and condescending, we felt supervised. He kept insisting we pay extra for odd things, like having my sisters husband there for a couple of hours cost us 300NOK. Because we were 3 adults instead of 2 adults and 2 children, we had to pay 500NOK/night. We had 1h free fire at the fire pit (for the whole stay), all hours after that was 100NOK. An arrangement that required him to pay attention to when we started the fire and when we stopped. Instead he could give us a certain amount of wood, and tell us to buy more when we had used that amount. He often came up to our cabin and had questions or complaints, he even complained about how we had payed for the extra expenses, we Vippsed to his personal number, how could we..! We had to ask him to leave us alone. The entire experience was ruined by the hosts behaviour. We were concerned he would go into the cabin while we were away, we made sure to lock the doors and cover the windows at night, worried he would “check” on us; making sure we didn’t break any of his extremely long list of rules. My mum got so stressed by the atmosphere we had to take her home the second evening. I stayed with my younger sister, because I would never leave her alone at this unbalanced mans property. For all positive reviews, they might have been in a cabin farther away from the hosts house, and have been lucky to be left alone. Despite a beautiful, clean cabin in absolutely stunning surroundings, I advise anyone to stay away - Find another place to rent a cabin!

We sadly just stayed for one night but we really liked us there! Me and my loved one lived in the cabin “torv” which was super-nice! Cozy and really good harmony feeling, waking up and looking out from the window at the woods was so nice. The host and his super cute dog was super friendly and really wanted us to feel welcome, learned us some trick how to make a good fire where we made our food later. It was close to the lake and we also had a lovely paddling tour around some nearby islands where we also stopped and found a LOT of mushrooms, yummy.. I also think the host was funny, he had those small signs of sentences which was really funny - maybe not for people who easily gets offended but we laugh a lot of them, really our type of humor. Anyhow we really enjoyed this cozy place, felt like “home”! :))

We visited “Mikrohyttene” this summer, and honestly, I struggle to understand the earlier reviews of this place. We were quite disappointed. We expected to find this peaceful little gem in the woods, a small break from the city noise. Yes, it was quiet, but it did not feel like it was private enough. In our opinion the cabins were too close to the farm house, and we felt like being supervised as the owner was around all the time to inform of and follow up different rules and regulations. The cabins were fine, kind of charming, solid handicraft, and the view is lovely. The rental prices are stiff, more than a quite expensive hotel room. Honestly, I don’t mind paying a high price as long as it is value for money, but when we realized that the guests need to do most of the work here, and that everything costs extra (coffee capsules, wood, etc), we felt the cabins were a bit overpriced. E.g. guests must bring the garbage when leaving, fetch water to the next guests, make the beds themselves, etc. Last, if you are going to communicate to your guests through signs and posters, why not try to be polite? Like the sign above the tap where you pick up water for your cabin, stating “Do not tighten the tap too much, you jerk!” We were quite surprised. If you care about your guests, you would probably communicate in a more friendly and pleasant way. We would never consider revisiting this place.

Hi, and thanks for your honest feedback. In Norway, our cabin culture is that we have to carry water, chop and walk a short distance to get to the outside toilet. Instead of putting everything into a price, we have chosen to pay extra for firewood for example. This is because not everyone wants to fire in the fireplace. And translating a sign directly from Norwegian to English via google translate is not always successful. The word dust is a nice saying used in Norway. If someone says "dust" to you, they answer back "I love you too". Our signs are there for our guests to smile a little bit. Moreover, our prices are among the cheapest in Norway when it comes to cabin experiences in nature. We hope that you were fine with us and brought some good memories along the way. - and next time you're wondering something - ask the host while you're there. (this was translated by google) /Per Inge

We sought shelter from the rain and found great hospitality at Mikrohytterne. Bath or canoe in the big, clear lake, visit the many local sights or just sit back and enjoy the quit and beautiful nature all around. Be careful; you'll want to visit again!

Nature has never been closer, and the stay at the Mikrohytterne is as close to the cozy Norwegian Hytte experience, as you can get. The facilities (of the hytte experience) are kept at the uttermost conditions, nice and neat, and you'll learn to love every part of it! The host/owner is always welcoming and gladly teaches bonfire techniques, target shooting, can recommend many great attractions - and knows the ins and outs of the area! So if you want the hytte-experience, in the middle of raw Norwegian nature, with plenty of opportunities for exploration, come here!
