Marriott has decided to use Covid to cut costs. Forget that clean towel unless you request it. This is not too difficult for me to endure, but if Marriott doesn't spend a little to put in some towel racks for those damp towels the bathroom can quickly become a mildew pit. The elevator was slow and made a strange bump each time it stopped. The guest room was well set up with a fairly large flat screen tv, but the remote control was difficult to use. Even though my room faced the highway it was generally quiet at night. It is about 15-20 minutes drive to the historic old town area of St Augustine, but there is fast food and a few chain restaurants nearby. This hotel is only a few miles off I95 .
I choose this hotel for my wife and I to stay the weekend in St Augustine because it was close to the attractions, it had a pool and a complimentary breakfast. Upon arrival, we were greeted by wonderful young lady named Azaleah. Azaleah was very friendly, accommodating and gave some great suggestions about the area. Upon arrival to the third floor, we found the floor to be extremely hot. Apparently the AC unit cooling the hallway was out but our room was very cool and comfortable so the hallway was just a minor inconvenience. Later that evening I spoke with John at the front desk because I had forgotten my plug for my cell phone. John found me one that I could use at no charge and I was extremely grateful. The next morning, Saturday, we went down to the breakfast about 0915 and it was allegedly being served until 1030. There were no scrambled eggs in the serving tray so I asked the young lady if there was any more. The young lady stated that they only have enough eggs for Sunday and if she made any more, they would not have any for the next day. They did have some cheese omelets (pre-made eggs folded in half with cheese in the fold) that my wife decided on. I don't eat cheese in my eggs so I skipped this which was a good thing according to my wife. She stated the "Omelets" were extremely cold and flavorless. The OJ and Apple juice was severely watered down and I resolved myself to an english muffin and a piece of sausage. Breakfast was a disaster and it was worse on Sunday so we went somewhere else and got breakfast. Later Saturday evening we went for a swim in the pool. The pool was a floating biology project. There was some kind of slime growing on the wall in the pool, the sides had not been cleaned in a while as they were covered by scum all the way around. The worst of it was when I looked in the skimmers there were bird feathers, trash and one had a hospital mask floating in it. This is clearly unsanitary and unacceptable! If it had not been for the service of Azaleah, John and the third floor cleaning lady, this would have been a disaster of a stay. I do not recommend this hotel in any way shape or form. The people who work there that I have mentioned, deserve a much better hotel to work in and customers deserve a better hotel to stay in.…
I got just what I expected from this Fairfield Inn - a clean but no frills room. It had a fridge, microwave and super comfy bed. And that is honestly all I needed for this past weekend trip. I found the front desk staff helpful, hand sanitizer throughout the hotel, and breakfast items individually wrapped in plastic. I would definitely stay here again.
we usually stop here overnight on way to florida. great location, very clean and sanitized hotel, dining room open for breakfast, only hot item was waffles. Everyting was good, until i received my bill which was wrong. I had kept my confirmation and amount to show them, and finally Azzy at front desk straightened it out. She was very nice and pleasant and helpful. . This has never happened before, so glad i did not erase my confirmation check in. Housekeeping was very nice and pleasant.
After the first night I reported two small problems in the room. When I returned to the room about 13 hours later, the problems were resolved. Yet, I realized that the room had not been refreshed. The trash basket was full, towels were still on the bathroom floor, and the bed remained unmade. This was not what I expected from previous stays at other Fairfield Inns.
