Hotel's Favourite
5.0 of 5 bubbles
My wife and I have stayed at the St. Augustine Historic Bayfront Hilton many times over the past decades. We have come to think of it as our home away from home. Everyone who works at the hotel treats the guests with extreme courtesy and attention to detail, making it a 5 star experience.

With over 1.5m Hilton points, we've stayed at more than a few hotels. The Historic Bayfront is our favorite. From the moment we call to make the reservation, to the time we have to check out (9 times out of 10 we end up extending our stay), Scott the GM and his staff do everything in their power to make our time enjoyable and memorable. It is apparent that Scott's attention to his guests' needs has been inherited by his employees.

Both Brandon and Josh at the front desk have gone above and beyond to ensure that my wife and I are comfortable when we stay. They are both so personable and easy to work with that we consider them friends.

If every hotel took a page from Scott's book, we'd all be the beneficiaries.

BTW, the hotel is centered in the heart of historic St. Augustine. Shopping and dining are conveniently within walking distance.

We visited the Hilton Hotel for the second time during our annual escape from the cold up North.
This is an outstanding Hilton property for many reasons.
The location is fantastic, beautiful view of the bay and the shopping, restaurants, and galleries are right out the back door. One of the top reasons my wife always enjoys her visits to St. Augustine.
The staff here exhibits the high level of hospitality and customer satisfaction that one would expect from a full-service Hilton Hotel. I added a note that we would be checking in early and they accommodated us from the time we pulled up in the driveway. Matt checked us in and made sure that we could be free to go to lunch and do some shopping while they took care of our luggage and made sure the room would be ready. He called right after lunch and we had a beautiful Bay Front room with a patio overlooking the harbor. Checking in was impeccable.
The room had a comfortable king bed, a flat-screen TV, large clean bathroom, separate seating area with a couch and a door out to the patio where we were able to have a drink and watch the boats on the water.
I was a little concerned that the noise from the street would be a problem but it was not. We were up at eight the next morning and had a great night's sleep. The WiFi was a little weak but we were able to log in and I was able to do some business while my wife shopped.
The very nice breakfast included a thirty dollar credit, as per our level and we were able to order off the menu.
Checking out was friendly and efficient. Jess told me that this property was one of the smaller Hilton Hotels with only 72 rooms. Paul helped us with our luggage, getting the car and helped us load it in the car. This is one of the nicest Hilton's we have visited. It certainly is a model for the Hilton spirit. We will return.

Hilton Historic Bayfront is the perfect location - walk to anywhere in town and great views of the waterfront. We paid the extra $$ for the waterfront view and were not disappointed. Fun to just sit and watch the boats coming and going and see the drawbridge operating. Check-in was quick & easy. We arrived early and our room wasn't ready yet, but the manager stowed our luggage and called when the room became available. The facilities/room were very clean and well maintained. The staff could not have been nicer. Branden at the front desk was prompt in helping resolve a minor issue with the AC, the valet/bell service guys were always friendly. Everyone from restaurant staff to housekeeping worked hard and was always friendly. The bed was firm, yet extremely comfortable. Among the few suggestions I'd make would be the pillows were very soft and compressed to near nothing. Maybe providing some thicker, more firm pillows would be good. The trash cans in the rooms are very small. A lot of other places we've stayed recently had larger bins and even provided a separate one for recycling. Breakfast was very good and reasonably priced for the quality and portion size. There is a small store/Starbucks in the lobby, which was closed 2 of the days. Also has nice little pool and hot tub, which we enjoyed a few days. Would absolutely stay here again.

Let me start by saying that I am a Hilton Honors member and have stayed at many Hilton properties all over the Country and for the most part, typically have very good experiences. But there is always the exception, and this property is it.

I would have given this place one circle except that the view of the bay/river from our room was beautiful and for the most part, the staff was friendly. But that is where the good stuff ends.

Had I known I was going to get a Motel 6 quality room with a view for $285 per night, I would have never picked this place. To add to the insult of the horrible cost/benefit of this place, turns out they don’t honor confirmed reservation rates made through the Hilton website, so beware! Much to my surprise, when I got my receipt, they had charged me $366 per night.

If one would think that the bait and switch was as bad as it could get, it only got worse when I called the Hotel and spoke with the Manager, Jessica. After first telling me that they would never quote that price and some BS that she can’t see the reservation rates made online from the Hilton website, she proceeds to tell me I would have to call the Hilton customer service line and take it up with them. After making it clear that I was upset at that response and expected her to resolve it, she gave me her e-mail address to send her a copy of the reservation confirmation. What a surprise when the e-mail comes back rejected by their server. Call back and she gives me a different email address. I send off the email, this time it goes through. So tell me, after reading this, are any of you surprised I never hear back from her!

Finally, I called the corporate office and told them the issue. Not only were they able to see my reservation rate, they were also able to see what I was charged. Obviously they are more technologically advanced then the hotel property that charges $366 per night. The representative was very nice, apologized for the experience, and said they would process a refund for the difference. The kicker, I paid with credit card but they can’t just credit it back to the card, I have to wait a month for a check refund. A little perplexing, but at least the corporate office was honorable and did the right thing.

In closing, if you are considering paying $300+ per night to stay at this hotel, do yourself a favor, just take the$300 and flush it down the toilet, it will be a better experience, and you still get a water view!

We stayed at this property a few years ago and the location is unbeatable, within walking distance to all restaurants, shops and attractions of Old Town. Valet parking at $28 per day is a plus. But the price is exorbitant.

We had booked elsewhere and was disappointed an we took a ride to this Hilton historic Bayfront and went in at 9:30 pm and met this lovely, courteous, very helpful front desk evening member, Margo, and explained our disappointment at the current place we were booked and we asked if there was a room available. She looked and found one but that it wouldn't be ready till the next day check in time. She went out of her way to help us with our Hilton membership when we called the 800 number to see how we can apply our membership points toward this room she found. She gave us a great rate versus the rate we got over the phone with the 800 number. Initially, she help us easing our mind in that we were able to stay at this beautiful hotel on the beautiful historic district, distance to all the amenities. We would go back and recommend anyone to wish a peaceful and pleasurable stay at this location in beautiful St. Augustine historic district Hilton hotel. They also took great care of our very special sport car we traveled with and at all times parked in a good space.

We were driving down to south Fla to care for my mom and stopped in St Augustine overnight. We chose the Hilton Bayside because their website stated that they had taken many pandemic precautions. We were dismayed to find that none of the ‘front of house’ staff had masks on and, in fact, when we walked into the lobby with our masks on we were told by staff that we didn’t need to wear them there. If we were not exhausted we would have gone elsewhere. Instead we asked that the staff including the valet wear masks and gloves when they parked the car. They donned masks upon our request but when we came down to the lobby later no staff was wearing masks. Very scary. Despite the excellent location of the hotel we would not stay there again. The health and welfare of their guests is not a priority.

I love this Hotel. It is so nicely situated on the bay across from the fort, practically. Ask for a Bay room. I watch the boots on my porch at night and it is truly delightful. All the service people really helped me when it was COVID. There is no housekeeping but I had 7 teens with me and we stayed a whole week. All the service people would bring us towels daily, take our trash and give us free water. Yes we had to make our bed. We can do that. An exceptional place to stay and its not haunted like some other places. Very friendly, kind and ready to help. Valet is exceptional to help out. Paul was great for tasks.

We stayed at the Hilton for a few days at Thanksgiving to meet up with family. We were in bay front room. The view was beautiful. The only reason I go with 4 stars is because of the noise from the very busy street between the bay and the hotel - that was no surprise to us because we looked at the map, just louder than expected. The staff was great, all Covid advisories were implemented and the Christmas lights at this location were absolutely beautiful.

located right in the middle of downtown area and within walking distance of everything. Never moved our car in three days. In fact, save the valet charge and uber in because you never need a car. Staff is super pleasant and helpful. They treat you like the best traveler that has arrived. The breakfast and dinner are quite good except they should be more open about gratuity on checks of five or more because not everyone reads their check :) . The rooms are really well insulated and you dont hear much from the outside. The hotel also has these cool patios to sit and enjoy if you know to look for them. Quite comfortable and allows you to enjoy the night air. The beds were super comfortable. Rooms were spacious and very clean. Perfect for enjoying the nights of lights.
