Nestled in the heart of the historic district, the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel St. Augustine earns rave reviews for its prime location, with scenic parks, shops, and historic sites just a stroll away. Guests appreciate the quiet, comfortable rooms and the exemplary service provided by a friendly, attentive staff. While the hotel's atmosphere and amenities like the shuttle service and pool are well-received, some travelers note the rooms' '90s vibe and small bathrooms. Despite the cleanliness being a high point, guests warn that parking and breakfast may add to the cost, suggesting these as areas where the hotel's value could be improved.

My wife of 39 years and I went on a get a way for a few days of golf and fine dinning. We stayed at the hotel; they were very friendly, and clean. I charged my EV everyday for free, a nice amenity. When we left, I left my wedding ring and watch in the vault in my room, and Maggie the hotel manager let me know she had it. Talk about an honest hotel, and a great Manager named Maggie !

The hotel is fairly close to The Fountain of Youth (which has free parking), as well as, the fort Castillo de San Marcos & the many stores on St George street (municipal parking is $15). Speaking of parking, the hotel has a $15 a night fee for parking on their grounds or across the street. There is a complimentary 3rd party shuttle which runs approximately every ‘30’ minutes to the attractions from the hotel & you can call for your return trip. After getting many false arrival times from the shuttle company, the staff showed concern & got involved by calling on our behalf. After waiting over 60 minutes (for a place I could have walked to in 10) I was finally on my way (with some compensation from the staff).
The bartender Sarah was very helpful with all my questions & provided much needed assistance. Excellent service was provided by the evening bartender as well & to my surprise, my dinner (the short rib with risotto & asparagus) was quite good. There is a gym, a laundry room, an outdoor pool & hot tub at this location.
Breakfast was complimentary & consisted of the usual items (including bacon), plus an omelette station.
Checkout was a breeze, just make sure if you are a Hilton Honors member that you are not automatically charged the $4.95 fee for internet (which was quickly adjusted).

The rooms here are either new or redecorated because our room was spotless, with comfortable beds, new 55" television, free WIFI and breakfast. Within walking distance of downtown St Augustine and 90% of the areas attractions. The restaurant/bar is temporarily closed due to COVID 19 (as of 11-20-20).
The staff was extremely helpful and very friendly. It has been a pleasure to spend a few days at the Doubletree!

We reserved for 3 nights Jan 2020. We were checked in early by Jarod who was very nice and professional.

Our room was nice, but not as clean as I would expect. There were crumbs under the information folder and on the chair by the desk, water stains on the bathroom fixtures (that could be wiped off) and lots of dust.

We ate dinner at the hotel the second night and while the food was excellent, the server made me feel rushed and unwelcomed. After taking our order he sat at another table on his phone and when he brought the bill he held it in his hand and said "how do you want to pay cash, check or room charge" without even showing it to me. I'm sure it was right but it's easier to fix a mistake before I pay for it on my credit card than after. The hotel would have been fine for the other lunches and dinners during our stay but I did not feel welcome.

Our stay included breakfast the last two days, we chose the buffet. This time the service was EXCELLENT but the food was cool, not hot and didn't taste as good as it looked. Although it was "included" we did pay $16.00 per person extra and seriously would have gotten better food at mcdonalds or chick filet.

The parking fee of $15.00 a day includes a shuttle which you call and it picks you up from your location and brings you back to the hotel. This was also very nice BUT on our first day our driver rear-ended someone hard enough for us to get hurt. My daughter and I were the only ones on the shuttle and she hit her face into the seat in front of her and I hit my shoulder on the partition between the driver and the front seat. I have a large painful bruise on my shoulder that still hurts to the touch two days later. Luckily my daughter was fine, just shaken up. The driver ONLY cared about his vehicle damage and the truck's damage and didn't even apologize. I was in such shock I didn't even know what to say.

In the morning I asked the front desk clerk Corrine for the name of the driver so if he answered we would ask someone else to drive and she said she would call the owner of the company to settle the issue. I saw her several times and she never offered a follow up. I didn't want to seem like I was making a scene by continually asking but it seems like no one cared that we were injured in an accident. No one apologized, no one was even concerned.

Although the staff was nice, I would not return to this location due to the above and although I haven't stayed at others downtown, I would recommend, for myself also, that future stays are downtown.

Location isn’t the best as it’s between a few very run down motels. They charge $15 per night for parking yet the parking lot was full and we had to park on the street both nights. Rooms were clean. There’s signs in the room stating housekeeping is available upon request but then when we requested it we’re very rudely (and an eye roll included) that they don’t do housekeeping period.

There are multiple reasons for this rating. Note that I was a heavy user of Hilton properties around the world before COVID and we have stayed at this hotel before as well.
The multiple reasons.
1. Attitude of desk staff was terrible. "No one else is having that problem"- (on three occasions); and "I didn't do that". This was the staff's response instead of helping us to resolve problems. One problem was when our car was locked in the overflow parking lot and the key pad wasn't functional. "No-one else is having that problem". Really, no one else? Our car was the only car there! Turned out the key pad was dead.
2. All the signs claiming "safety" and "cleanliness" are just marketing. Our room door had continuous oily finger prints up and down the door and key pad. It's clear that it hadn't been cleaned for a long time. Elevator buttons and panel was filthy and never cleaned during our entire stay evidenced by the exact same smudges and beverage drip marks never changed. One hotel staff in the elevator with us was not wearing their mask until we insisted.
3. The very limited wine choice and the food at the bar was extremely over cooked and poor quality.
4. The extra $15 parking on a $440/night room is ridiculous when the Holiday Inn parking a few door down was free. As ridiculous as is the weekend markup of $200 extra.
5. We had about 6 tissues in the tissue box and no extra tissue box. It could be that the tissues that we had were just stuffed back into the box before we got there.

All that being said, the room itself was OK. We did find one enthusiastic employee who delivered housekeeping supplies. He was cheerful and grateful to have guests.
This does not relieve management of the attitude that guests were an inconvenience and for the cleanliness.

This hotel is a short 10 minute walk to the right (if you are in shape) to downtown St. George Street where most of the restaurants, shops, and sightseeing places are located. I liked that it was not in the middle of the noise but within walking distance. The hop on hop off trolley is a 5 minute walk to the left. We used it for one day to see where everything is but honestly if you aren’t going to the beach everything is within walking distance.

Our room on the first floor was very clean (so much so, that I commented on how clean the bathroom and tub/shower was to the front desk). Housekeeping is available on request but we didn’t mind that the beds weren’t made daily. We just asked the front desk for fresh towels and they were given right away.

There is a nice bar in the lobby and the hotel was very quiet. All of the employees were super friendly and welcoming. The amenities included a pool, hot tub, bikes, and a shuttle that is available to take you to the trolley.

There is a parking charge that people complain about but I’m from Florida so I guess we are used to it. It’s $18 and compared to $25 to $30 at Disney this is reasonable. Everywhere downtown charges to park so being able to leave your car somewhere safe is a plus.

A few negatives- the windows face the parking lot so we weren’t able to open the curtains unless you want everyone looking into your room. Maybe put up some type of shutter to give these rooms some privacy. The mattress is harder than I prefer so my back suffered a little bit. The hot tub heater was broken which was a bummer cause it would of been wonderful to soak after a long day of walking.

Overall with a Hilton discount this is definitely a great place to stay. No frills just a clean, safe hotel in a convenient location.

Visited St. Augustine in December, 2019 with all its beautiful lights and friendly atmosphere. Blindly selected DoubleTree and couldn't have been more pleased. Location was only a mile walk to the historic district and the shuttle service made life so easy because parking in that town during the holidays was impossible. Shuttling to and from this hotel was like having a free pickup service anywhere in town!

The rooms were very clean, king-sized bed was comfortable, warm chocolate chip cookies as a welcoming gift and the price reasonable! It doesn't get much better....well, actually it does. That would be Francine at the front desk. She was always there with a smile when we came in, our feet tired from the day. She had great dining recommendations as well as good tips on how to enjoy the town and our stay in general. It felt like having a friend waiting when we came home. She was very knowledgeable and efficient and on days when she wasn't there we had Jordan who made us feel just as comfortable and welcomed. Both helped us sort out how to use our limited time there and so glad we chose this hotel. We'll return. The memories will remain.

This past weekend my wife and I stayed at this property for a night while taking in St. Augustine's Historic District. A few helpful things to note up front: The property has a decent amount of parking, however it's $15.98 per night to park once you factor in the tax. The property is located on the outskirts of the Historic District. If you're not opposed to walking, park your vehicle at the hotel and walk it. You'll be in the thick of things in about a mile. No need to drive at all if you're a walker. As far as the staff, everyone from the front desk folks we spoke with to the breakfast dining staff were pleasant. For a night's stay, the room was perfect. Comfortable bed. Ample bright lighting. Outlets built into the nightstands for your phone. Great water pressure. The walls are somewhat thin, so in having a room near the side exit we heard a few comings and goings fairly loudly. With that minor exception the property was quiet. We had breakfast the morning of our departure. Cold items were self serve at the buffet, and the staff would serve you any hot items. All in all, I wouldn't hesitate to return. I'm not sure how I feel about paying to park, but parking seems to be at a premium in the area, so I suppose it's understood. For a few nights, don't hesitate.

Dear Ryan G, Thank you for taking the time to share a lovely review about your most recent stay at the DoubleTree in St. Augustine Florida. There are so many attractions, restaurants, bars and historical sites within walking distance of our property and pleased to hear you did not need to worry about driving around the city since parking can be difficult to find in downtown. Your review maps out everything that future guests would need to know prior to their stay, which they will appreciate this as much as we do at the hotel! Please visit our website or give us a call at (904) 825-1923 any time you are in the St. Augustine area. We would be happy to host you again and hopefully more than one night to enjoy everything the beautiful city has to offer!

Great location to see old town. Parking lot is difficult to access and park in. Rooms are great ,well updated and clean. The shuttle runs during tourist season. The shuttle makes it worth the $15.00 for parking .It costs the same thing to park in the rampin old town for one trip.
Only misgiving and trip spoiler came from desk clerk Cortney. She lacks people skills. I stood in front of her for several minutes as she complained to a coworker about the new girl who was starting today. She was sharp, turse and down right rude. While checking out she was again complaining about her personal issues. Everyone has issues but she represents the hotel and is not doing it well.

Yes - around $25 per day - look at nearby motels in vicinity - also so many Airbnbs with vacancies - if I went back again that’s where I would stay
