This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

The Ponce St. Augustine Hotel is often commended for its spotless premises, with guests regularly highlighting the cleanliness of the rooms and the inviting atmosphere created by fluffy comforters and fresh scents. While the spacious rooms are generally appreciated, the presence of nearby train tracks sometimes leads to noise complaints, and occasional maintenance issues are noted. Service at the hotel can be hit or miss, with experiences ranging from professional to disappointing. Travelers offer mixed reviews on value, with some questioning the price point relative to the hotel's offerings and location. The amenities, especially the comfortable beds, receive positive remarks, though some guests mention the bathrooms could be improved.

Just spent two nights at the Ponce hotel.
Very comfortable very clean wheelchair accessible bedroom, well appointed with loads of electrical points for my myriad of phones, laptop and accessories.
Great internet facilities here, way better than Choice Hotels or Holiday Inns where you can barely get online for emails.
Fab huge TV, with oodles of channels, and remotes that actually work !
Decent breakfast, nothing special, but certainly comparable to the big boys and quite plentiful. Sensible hours for eating breakfast, not the 'get em out as quick as I can so I can go home' thing that most hotels do.
The river views are very interesting if slightly bizarre, with the railway line running across the bottom of the scene. But if you look beyond that it is quite spectacular particularly at sunset or sunrise. There is a little cabana or patio where you can sit at sunset and watch the birds flying past or fishing for their feed.
If you live in a beachfront house in the Bahamas the view will not be anything special to you, but for the rest of us it is quite stunning.
The hotel is perfectly situated for the St Augustine attractions and the tour trolleys will collect you right at the door. Rene the Manager is wonderful, spoke to her several times she is a truly 'hands on' Manager I even bumped into her checking the rooms and facilities one morning, and she really does care about the rooms the service and the customers.
There is more than adequate FREE car parking, (rare in St Augustine), right at the door of your room (its an old style Motel type place with separate entrances to each room and parking at the door of each one.
People complain in reviews about the train noise, but that is unfair. The noise is no worse than on a cruise ship, or at a hotel next to a major road. I live in a rural area two miles from the nearest neighbours and the noise from the trains at this hotel didnt bother me at all (and I have no hearing issues).
Great Value for money, clean comfortable rooms, with good facilities and loads of parking.
If you want flash and showy overpriced new hotels, this is not for you. But if you like good value fair priced clean comfortable and convenience, well placed for sightseeing in St Augustine, you will not do better.

Mostly well maintained older motor hotel with exterior doors, a good hot breakfast, and coffee in serious need of an upgrade. The on-site restaurant is excellent. Relatively convenient to the local sights.

Most worthy of note are the first floor rooms which are very well appointed for mobility impaired pertaining with roll in showers and such. The small in-room ice makers are a nice touch.

The pictures of this hotel look so nice and then when we got there immediately we could tell it looks more like a motel. The front desk workers were really nice and we did enjoy the free movie rentals and the pool was pretty nice but overcrowded in my opinion with the whole coronavirus thing going on. Our hotel room door was so hard to open we thought our key didn’t work, you had to literally run into it like a swat team raid just to open the door and had to push it with the same weight to close it. Our toilet never wanted to flush sometimes we’d have to wait hours to try and flush again. The mattress was extremely uncomfortable and you could hear the springs popping every time you moved on the bed. They give you throw pillows instead of actual bed pillows. Highly over priced in my opinion this “hotel” should only cost you $50-$60 a night.

The hotel looks beautiful in the pictures, in person it was not near as nice (except for the back lot view over the River, that was amazing). Rooms looked like they are from a 1970’s porn flick, it was literally 3 different colors of pastel. The hot tub is cracked and had dirt and debris floating around. We stayed for 4 nights and was only able to get fresh towels once when we went to front desk to request some, never did get any room service. It also raves about it bar/restaurant. The bar has minimal drinks with nothing frozen and restaurant is limited menu that only offers Mexican food, never tried any but I was under impression from website it was more of a fine dining restaurant.

Dear Melissa, We are so sorry that our accommodations did not meet your expectations. Your feedback is not what we're used to hearing; however, we understand that there is always room to improve. Due to the current circumstances, some of our amenities are limited to encourage social distancing and follow CDC recommendations. Some of these changes include offering a limited menu at our restaurant, and limited housekeeping services. All these policies are outlined during check-in, as well as listed on the paper provided to guests upon arrival. Nonetheless, we will continue doing everything we can to ensure our guests have a pleasant time with us. Hopefully, your time in St. Augustine was much more enjoyable, and we wish you well.

This hotel makes the most of everything they have. Our room was spacious, modernized & clean. Once upon a time, this was an old 1950s type roadside motel but somebody put some money into renovating it with new bathroom fixtures & laminate floors. The angle of the photo of the hotel makes the property look more like a resort then it actually is. The pool is adjacent to the AIA highway (the photographer's back is to the road) but the hot tub had great jets.

The staff was so kind. I screwed up my reservation & they courteously changed it for me no questions asked. Granted I was going from a slow season weekday to the next day. I doubt they would have been so accommodating on a busy weekend. I told them it was my husband’s birthday so they gave up a cute bag that somebody wrote happy Birthday on with a sharpie. Inside were 2 bottles of water, some chocolate, a snack bag of chips & a granola bar. Probably cost them $5 but it was sweet thing to do. I also forgot my phone charger; when I asked at the front desk the manger loaned me hers. They are all about customer service.

There is more parking around back. We never heard the train but our room faced the road not the tracks.

We were able to walk into town but it was a long walk. We took a cab back after a night of bar hopping. Cost was about $12 + tip but we didn’t want to navigate the AIA in the dark while inebriated. 😊

First I must say entering and exiting this hotel is can be extremely difficult and/or dangerous. One entrance and Ponce Blvd traffic is super heavy and fast. Check in was okay. Our room was definitely clean but the front door did not close or seal properly. Walls are thin and some guests were obnoxiously loud. Rooms need a complete redo and update. Bed was clean and very comfortable, shower was very good except the shower head could use a deep cleaning. Refrigerator was fine except the freezer was so frozen up that there is virtually no room in it let alone make ice cubes.
The pictures on line do no reflect the true hotel. There is a train that runs behind the hotel but we actually found comfort in hearing the train sorta "white noise "
No we would not stay here again.

This classic roadside motel was renovated a little over a year ago. It is convenient and functional. Outback there is a small deck with spectacular view. The sunsets are incredible. The Florida East Coast Railway rolls through adjacent to the back parking lot. Light sleepers might prefer a room elsewhere but the rooms are well insulated and the sound takes you back in time when Florida was conquered a second time by Henry Flagler. Complimentary breakfast buffet was better than average and adds to the value of the room. Attractions are a healthy walk away so you don’t have to struggle with parking. Shannon made us feel like we were old friends. Wrestled up a bottle opener and gave us good advice on attractions.

The website does not tell you that the hotel property backs up to train tracks. We had a room facing the train tracks at the back of the hotel for 2 nights. We didn't sleep well at night. There were freight trains going by every 25 minutes after midnight. If they are offering rooms in the back they should only charge $75.00 a night, not $150.00 a night for no sleep which is a rip off. They need to put on their website that the back of the hotel is next to train tracks that freight trains travel regularly at night. Also if you use the room telephone to call the front desk it doesn't work. You have to use your cell phone. We also told the front desk person that we needed 2 extra hand towels and wash towels and was told they will tell housekeeping. We didn't get the 2 extra towels thar we requested. We won't be staying at this hotel again. Not worth the price that we paid. Rooms should be $75.00 or less at night if they are next to train tracks. Also no attention to detail, doesn't acknowledge guests requests. Rip off hotel.

our stay was great my wife had fun. I was very impress with James on the front desk he checked me and was very informative I asked about gyms around the area and restaurants. I had a leak inside my room and he came and assist even though it was just a temporary fix we appreciated the gesture. We had a good chat about nutrition and fitness. Breakfast was OK but because of my strict diet i couldn't eat as much as I wanted to. it was a great stay despite how rainy it was on the first day

I don’t usually book non-chain hotels but this place caught my eye on Priceline. Not only is it super convenient to the St. Augustine visitor center where you can get great deals on trolly tours and attraction tickets, but it has a nice little Columbian style restaurant with excellent food!

Cons: the bathroom in the two queen bed room is super small but the shower has room for activities. The beds are ok but a little too stiff for my liking. The pool was nice for relaxing after a day of sightseeing but needed to be cleaned. The hot tub didn’t work either.
