No rug, king size bed, clean, basic, no breakfast. It was very affordable on a Saturday night. Great, smart TV. You can watch your favorites from any of your apps or just your favorite cable channels. Room had a refrigerator and a microwave. Cracker Barrel and outlets close by.

I really wish I would have gone down the street a few more blocks. This hotel offered somewhere to sleep, and that's about it. The mini-fridge and microwave were in the closet, leaving little to no room to try and hang your clothes. The bathroom door wouldn't lock. There was very little room to move around in the room. The best thing about this place was it's close proximity to the downtown area. I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Seriously decrepit motel has seen better days.

Dirty white paint.
Rusty fixtures.
Wrong light bulbs.
Air conditioner missing buttons.
Old, worn out, non-supporting mattresses
Stained old bedsheets (but clean).
No blanket.
Very small TV
Toilet flushes slowly and inadequately
Culturally unaware hosts/owners:
(Pictures of Indian (Hindu) gods in the lobby)
(Abusive/unfriendly posted messages in broken English)

It appears the owners are deliberately running this property into the ground. No maintenance apparent in the rooms. Whatever is broken or dirty is simply painted over with cheap white paint.

This was the worst most dirtiest place I have ever seen. The towels were grey instead of white the floor was dirty. The A.C filters have never been changed it smelled like cigarettes. The sheets and pillows were smelly. By far the worst I will never recommend this place to anyone, it should be demolished. The office smelled horrible and the guy at the office was super rude. Loved ST. Augustin and I cannot believe that they have this place in the town. Nasty 😝😨

Formerly Scottish Inns (a SERIOUS insult to the SCOTS!!!!) is now known as AMERICAN INN (ANOTHER national insult!!!)
I made the mistake of checking in late at night to this dump and SHOULD HAVE asked for my money back!
I enjoy the savoury scents of international cuisine as much as anyone, HOWEVER, the stale stench in the Office should have been a clue to what followed!
I am used to budget motels in my travels such as The Red Roof Inns, Super 8, Motel 6, and the REAL Scottish Inns which offer modest but clean accommodations. But this dated hovel should be subjected to an immediate health and building code inspection and CLOSED DOWN!!!!
The walls were peeling, the bathroom fixtures were cracked (especially pleasing was the WOODEN toilet seat with cracked and peeling paint!!!), the bathtub enclosure was pulling away from the walls and the sink had a stopper but no plunger to open it!!! The bedding was threadbare and discoloued and although did not have an unpleasant odour, I had strange little itches which were probably imagined as there were no red marks in the morning.
This "motel" is a blot on the motel industry in general as well as the lovely town of St. Augustine. It should be dealt with as soon as possible before other budget-conscious travellers waste any of their hard-earned money by making th same mistake I did!!!
Be afraid.......Be VERY afraid!!!!!!!!!!

checked in and pulled back the sheets to find a large pee stain (not clean). I asked the owner/manager for clean sheets and she said that the sheets were clean. I asked her to come and look for herself and she wanted to argue that they were clean.
I demanded a refund and after 10 minutes of arguing, she finally gave in.
Rude, dirty and foreign. Stay away!!!

The room was big buy the service and the cleaning was really bad! We took a riom for 4 people (2 adults and 2 kids) they gave us only three towels , one of the towels were dirt, with gray patches and the other one with holes on it!!!! The bathtub was very dirt !!! And the two cleaning gentlemen were smoking while they clean the room!!! Very bad service and a dirt hotel, completely DO NOT RECOMMEND!

We stayed here cause there was no where else to stay and we paid $90 for a POS! The beds were horrible and there was no clock in the room. It had an old TV in it and no frig or coffee maker. The staff was very nice but I would not recommend staying here unless you had no other options.

Checked in, and we were asked for our driver's licenses which were photocopied. I've traveled many places...first time for that. Manager said it's b/c they get so many chargebacks (red flag #1). Previous guests in the parking lot looked like they were on drugs and sketchy (red flag #2). Arrived in the room to a complete HORROR SHOW. Hair. EVERYWHERE. On the pillows, sheets, IN THE REFRIGERATOR, all over the bathroom. Brown mud...coffee...poop...not sure which...splattered on the side of the bed. Black mold all over the floorboards in the bathroom. An old dirty bag from previous guest laying behind the toilet. I needed to be disinfected just from walking in there. DISGUSTING. The "head" housekeeper came over with the manager and argued that she 'had just cleaned the room.' Literally, argued asking what was dirty. I pointed..there, there, there, THERE and so on. If that's what she calls 'cleaning,' I'd hate to see it before it was cleaned. I was seriously disturbed. I don't know how anyone could recommend this place. RUN.

We have stayed here twice now and yes it is very old and outdated but it is clean and affordable. The location is amazing, you can walk to the main attractions and restaurants from here. The staff are friendly and helpful.
