Stayed here over a long weekend and had a wonderful stay. The staff couldn’t be nicer. My air conditioner had a rattle and they fixed it right away. Location is the selling point of this hotel. The hotel is stop #21 on the trolly tour and if you get the hop on hop off ticket you don’t have fight traffic. Bed was comfortable and the shower was very nice. They do have bathtubs if you would prefer to take a bath. Room was adequately clean.
We booked last minute during one of the busiest times of year, so there wasn't a lot to choose from within walking distance of sights without breaking the bank. As other reviewers mentioned, this is motel style accommodations. Older buildings (after all, it is St. Augustine -everything is older) but rooms look to have been renovated within the past few years. Bed was comfortable enough, but feel like the room (mostly the bathroom) needed a good, deep cleaning. Water pressure in the shower was excellent and loved that the water got HOT...not warm like some, but nice and hot! Always nice after a long day of walking and touring the city. We were close to the road and you can definitely hear everything. Probably best if you can request a room towards the back. In addition to the road noise, adjacent doors slamming shut at 6am did not make me happy, but not the fault of the hotel. Only got coffee in the mornings, as we aren't big on breakfast. If you are, as with any other complimentary breakfast, expect the usual...powdered eggs, toast, bagels, cereal, etc. Even though I didn't eat, whoever the gentleman was that was attending to the breakfast area was extremely courteous. He came right over and asked me if I needed anything and was busy making sure everyone in the dining area had what they needed. Loved that we could jump on the trolley right at the hotel. Big plus. We even walked back a few times late in the evening from the historic district and it was maybe a 15 minute walk at the most. Again, adequate accommodations, but not sure that we would stay here agin.…
Good location to the trolley tour, old jail and short walk into historic district. Rooms were renovated Fridge Some toiletries Tv / bed was comfortable enough Free parking outside your door (motel style accommodation) Breakfast is complimentary but average Very small dining room with no ventilation so it is hot and smells of fat/ grease come out of there smelling of food. We ended up eating out after the first day very few fresh options all packaged or processed food The rooms at the front of the motel are extremely noisy for road traffic kept us up and woke us up often. Better to request a room right at the back away from the road.
This is our third stay over the years at Villa 1565, the hotel is clean, immaculate rooms and the amenities are very good. The breakfast is very good. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. Our last two visits have been for our anniversary and the staff went above and beyond with a beautiful set up on the bed. Highly recommend Villa 1565 for anyone that visits Saint Augustine.
Struggling to understand why there are so many good reviews. Rooms are outdated with uncomfortable metal beds & noisy AC. We had to move due to drunk guests kicking & banging doors. No fault of the hotel but it had a really uncomfortable feeling about the place. Didn’t get any sleep & couldn’t wait to leave. ‘Breakfast’ was hilarious.
Staff was attentive and friendly. Room was nice and clean. Location was excellent. We have no trouble walking and we were within a mile from shopping and site seeing. Free parking for a location this close to everything was a plus.
The location was nice. The Old Town Trolley stops right at the 600-year-old Oak tree in the parking lot. The room was ok. The shower had not shower curtain the first day. It was about 1 mile into town which we enjoyed. The chair and couch could have been a little more comfortable.
Excellent place with friendly staff. Modern renovations inside the room with the old town look on the exterior. There is "Old Senator" in the yard. The Fountain of Youth is across the street. Plus, Magnolia Ave is next to the hotel.
This is a fun place to stay. The motel dead ends on Magnolia St. which I did not realize when we booked our stay. I also was not aware that Magnolia St. is considered one of the most beautiful streets in St. Augustine, which it seems to be. I found that out by the tour buses that come through the parking lot. It was so much fun to see them. The motel is very clean and the rooms are very roomy. Breakfast was hot and very good. Check in and check out went very smoothly and it was priced very reasonably. I would recommend this motel to anyone!!
We stayed 2 nights. Our interaction with the staff was limited to check in and out. They were both friendly and efficient. The hotel is older, but updated. You can still tell it is older. The room was a little musty. I would appreciate a little more attention to detail on the cleaning. The bathroom had debris in the ceiling light, but otherwise it was clean except for normal wear and tear. I liked the non- carpeted floors!!
