Stayed 2 nights for a conference at the end of May as part of a larger vacation in St. Augustine. Given the fact that all business right now are suffering lack of staffing, this location did an amazing job. They did not let that cause too much interruption in services - the bar/restaurant still served drinks and food, just in to-go containers (no dishwasher). Caddyshacks was great and very busy. The best part was on our last day, my husband had meetings until the afternoon and our flight out of JAX was at 5:30. The front desk let us keep our room until 3pm so I could hang out at the pool - that meant so much that they went out of their way to be helpful and accommodating. Our room was fine - no issues with it at all or the A/C. The only negative issue was hotel-wide, on our first day the plumbing was shut off for a few hours due to an issue. These things happen and not even the management can help that. Please adjust your expectations until things are back to normal.

The hotel may have gotten 4 stars from my husband and myself but 5 stars go to Jody, the Concierge, at the hotel. What a delightful, professional woman. She was so helpful in answering all our questions and helping us arrange a tour of the World Golf Hall of Fame. The hotel is lucky to have her as an employee!

This place needs to work and focus on detail and the customer. When we checked in, I asked for a pillow case for my pillow to be provided. They said they'd need to have house keeping deliver to our room. Not one, but both check in staff members asked me my room number (keep in mind that they just were checking me in). They said they have one sent up to the room. Got to the room, unpacked and turned the ac down. Left for the afternoon and returned in the evening. The room felt warm and smelled like moisture/mildew. No pillow case. I called down and asked the front desk for my pillow case. The same guy (Brandon) who'd I'd spoken to earlier upon check in, and who assured he they'd send up a pillow case, acted like this was new. Asked me how many and the size. I said I just needed a pillow case. Housekeeping showed up and gave me one. That night, we woke up all night sweating. The ac simply wasn't cooling the room. The next morning we were bright and early due to the warm room and went to pool (btw...there was a bandaid floating in the pool and the hot tub was filled with palm tree droppings). We were out there until around noon and returned to the room. The cleaning cart which we past on our hallway never cleaned our room. I called down and asked if they are cleaning rooms or not during Covid-19 and was told only upon request. I said we'd like our room cleaned. Brandon asked at what time the next morning and I said 11am. All was set. We left for the day but later that evening returned again to a hot room. We didn't want another sleepless night. I called and asked for fresh towels (again room hadn't been cleaned that day) and if there was a secret to the ac unit because it had been 36 hours and still hot in the room. The response by Brandon "not unless y'all are pushing the buttons ans messing with it. It should work." At this point we were trying to not take everything so serious and to, ya know...relax a bit. I asked him to send maintenance up. Dennis from maintenance came to the room and as soon as I opened the door he said that you'd have to turn the thermostat all the way down and it should work. I informed him that we had for the past 2 days and nothing. I asked if it could be frozen up, he said no just turn down. It was and didn't work. I asked him to actually look at it. He took it apart and behold...immediately found a broken component in the unit. He rigged it so we'd have some cold air on our stay and we were happy with that. The air turned colder immediately while he was there. Dennis obviously cared. The next morning we woke up and went to the pool. We returned well after the stated 11am cleaning and again... no cleaning happened. I called down requesting towels (to shower after the pool) and asked again why our room hadn't been clean. I was told that we'd have to request it. I told the lady we had yesterday and Brandon was supposed to put us on the list for this morning at 11am. Her response "well he didn't. " I said..."sorry, he was supposed to." She asked if we're leaving for the day and I said yes. She promised the room would be clean between 1-3pm. She said she'd send in the request personally. We returned at 8pm. Dirty room. We called down and Brandon answered and said if we wanted our room cleaned, we'd just need to ask and it would be added to the list for the next day. We reminded him that this was the 3rd call on cleaning and the 2nd with him. Everything time he has/she has, failed to get our room cleaned. He asked if we'd just like some towels. Nope...we wanted our room cleaned 1x during a 4 day stay. He said he'd "try. " I went out to the pool so that the housekeeping could clean our room. My friend stayed behind. Housekeeping showed up and lectured him that "you should have called and requested to be put on the list for the morning. " He reiterated that this has been done 4x now. The housekeeper asked if we'd like some towels. Friend said no...freshen our room please. He asked what needed to be cleaned...he told him "ya know..clean our room...towels...beds...replace toiletries. " He then again tried to lecture my friend to just call and have room put on cleaning list and no problem. He offered coupons for the breakfast the next day. My friend politely declined as we wouldn't need the breakfast. Meanwhile, while I was at the pool there was a pool party, which was full of and run by a Tae Know Do school who had been running around the conference center all weekend. Loud techno music and games. Loud intercom speaker. I found a chair by the pool and the cleaning of our room was to be occurring...and the entire pool, hot tub, and sun baiting area was completely trashed with beer bottles, half full cups, wine cans, beer cans, beer buckets and straws...trash everywhere (see pictures). A woman came out to refill the towels and I told her "shouldn't someone be working this pool party to clean up? There's trash everywhere. " she told me she'd tell someone. 2 hours later still no one cleaned the area. To have a hosting pool party with ZERO staff to ensure the area is kept clean, is crazy to me. A stressful 2 hours while they cleaned our room (at our insistance). When we got back I took a shower. I grabbed a hand towel to wash my face from the freshly replaced towels...this "clean towel " with covered with dirt and makeup (see picture). It took multiple requests to get a pillow case. 4 calls and a lecture from housekeeping to get our room cleaned. Cleaned with replaced dirty Towels. 2 days of no AC because the unit was broken. And sitting through an obnoxiously Loud pool party complete with trash everywhere and overflown trash cans and garbage. Upon check out we politely asked to take to a manager and asked to have a conversation away from the desk as to be polite and not let other guests hear these things. She refunded a partial refund, which is why this isn't a 1 star review. I should have read the reviews on here before booking as it's clear that our experience, isn't unique. I'd not go back to this location. I feel that they're using Covid-19 staffing limitations and policies as an excuse to not clean rooms or common areas, nor to hold staff responsible for extremely standard and simple request. Look at the pictures...this location doesn't care about your comfort. Especially at a time when everything is reopening and hotels are charging more than ever for standard nightly rooms. This place needs a complete turnaround.

I just checked in. I was hoping to order room service because it's late and I need to feed my 2 year old. I've called every single button on the phone (delighted to serve, restaurant, room service, navigator, bell captain, and 0) and literally no answer. I then called the main hotel line from my cell and tried to get someone and it sounds like someone picks up and hangs up. Soooo...simply put, no service. Check-in was nice, but you need extra pillows? Fuggetaboutit! Also, the room is dingy and stained and definitely not up to Renaissance standards. Don't come here for a special trip.

I booked a one bedroom suite, golf course view, balcony on 7th floor or higher. i was good at front desk, “ we don’t have any left.” Was given a 3rd floor non golf course view room. i made this reservation over a month ago. how do you just not honor it AND charge me full price for the room i booked while i receive the room i didn’t ask for? Seems a bit fraudulent.
