So I didn't expect much and received even less. Thrifty is one thing but out and out cheap is another. This place doesn't even offer housekeeping. Even though it was 100+ degrees with the heat index the day we checked in the AC was off when we arrived. It took over 3 hours to cool off the room. The furnishings were beyond worn. We spend a weekend or 2 in St Augustine every year and will not return here. When I told the owner that the Wi-Fi does not work he said I have to stand outside to get Wi-Fi

The hotel is not historic, just very old and the owners are doing the renovations in bits and pieces. The outside looks good with a big parking lot. This part of town is across the bridge from all the activity in St Augustine and is only now coming under investment because downtown is maxed out, super expensive and this area is within walking distance if you like walking. There is a great restaurant, the Black Fly, across the street. The hotel has no elevators and door keys that are huge with a electronic fob. There was new carpet and the bed was OK but pink counters from the 50s. Restaurants in St Augustine are fabulous, which is why we stop in this tourist city. Hotels prices are high in this area because of location, location, location. Hopefully the owners will keep improving the hotel. Our room was clean and our bathroom was fine. Just the old pink sink and cigarette burn marks around showing the age of the property. Ok for one night.

Based on price and Trip Advisor reviews, we didn't expect a 5-star room, but it was much worse than we anticipated. Motel featured water damaged furniture, bathroom door that didn't fit door jam, constantly dripping tub, remote that didn't work, no spare roll of toilet paper, paper thin stained towels, single-lock external door, and a refrigerator that didn't cool properly. Manager argued that the refrigerator was fine and that we could put our things in the freezer to cool. We booked two nights and there was NO HOUSEKEEPING service provided after first night -- no clean towels, no trash pick up, etc. Manager brought towels when we called to complain, but offered no explanation for lack of housekeeping. We did stay both nights due to 48 hour cancellation policy, but we literally took our belongings with us between nights fearing the safety of our possessions. Unprofessional manager was always sitting around either outside or with feet propped up inside the paper-piled office. Someone knocked on neighboring doors throughout both nights. During check out, when asked for a receipt, manager argued he had given one upon check-in. Several requests for a receipt were needed before he hand-wrote a copy. This "buyer beware" 'historic inn' has seen the last of my business.

You need to stay here. It is an older place but someone has spent it is spending $$ to update. I read the reviews- the good, bad and ugly. We decided we’d stay. I’m glad we did.
We booked through booking.com. After we checked in, the lady walked us down to own room, opened the door, closed the window, turned on the air, checked the room and bathroom, explained the remotes and TV, asked if she could get us anything, told us that it would take a little while for the room to cool down. She thanked us for coming. Told us to call for anything if we needed. I really enjoyed her attention. (There are some complaints in the reviews about this attention. I think these complainers would complain about anything, to be honest)
We had a king room (#108). The room was entirely clean, not a speck of dirt/dust on anything. It was hot in the room so we had to kill some time until it cooled off. We were gone as long as we wanted to be, came back and the room was cooked sufficiently.
Yesterday, we hopped in the pool and it is a darling! It’s a concrete The shallower end is 4ft with built in steps and the deeper end is 5ft with a ladder. Sparkling clean and cool enough.
There was no noticeable street noise and no noise from neighboring rooms. The historic inn is located just over the bridge on Anastasia. If you’re so inclined to walk from the Inn back over to st Augustine, you can easily.
Will stay again and I definitely recommend.

This motel is in a good location for visiting St Augustine as it was only a short walk over the bridge to the centre. Also a few minutes drive to the lighthouse. This motel is a little dated in decor and the bright turquoise colour scheme doesn’t help. However, the motel was spotlessly clean with everything you need for a short stay. We enjoyed a good nights sleep in an area which seemed quiet at night. The staff were welcoming and showed us to the room. Don’t be put off by the two star rating …. it’s fine.

Great, great inn right over Lions Bridge from the historic district. Small, quaint, extremely clean. The owner works the desk and walks you to the room like a host. Room extremely clean, great towels, beds, everything. 8 minutes from the beach and 3 minutes from the historic district, you can actually walk to the historic district. Pool very clean. We saved a lot of money staying there rather than downtown or right at the beach. I'll book there in a heartbeat without even looking at other options.

We first booked it given the price and location, walkable to downtown. However, once we checked in, we realized we had made a mistake. Paint pealing everywhere, bath room did not have any shampoo or barely any soap. The carpet was dirty and the a/c was so loud, we couldn't sleep. I am surprised that Priceline even offered this property. Pictures lie. Also during our stay a sign appeared on the gate to the pool stating it was closed and is a health hazzard. OMG. never again.

We were driving back from the Keys and decided to break the trip up by stopping in St Augustine. We were not interested in an overpriced room downtown, so we went over the bridge and stopped at the Historic Inn. They offered a great rate, a clean room that looked newly remodeled, a nice TV, and a quiet rest. This place is still within walking distance of downtown, so I think we would use it for future, longer stays.

I hesitate to rave about this inn because I don’t want it to be unavailable in the future.
A great find.
So close to everything, immaculate rooms, comfortable beds
A very positive experience. The owners are very accommodating and make sure that everyone is happy. I definitely hope to stay here again in the future.
