The Hampton Inn St. Augustine Beach is often commended for its cleanliness and homey atmosphere, with particular mention of the daily upkeep. Its location near the beach and historic district is a highlight for guests, although some have expressed a need for better communication regarding beach work schedules.
While the staff's friendliness is frequently praised, some guests have encountered service issues. Opinions on value are mixed, with concerns about pricing, especially for ocean view rooms. Room experiences vary, with noise and dampness being occasional drawbacks, and while amenities like beach access are popular, the pool and AC have received criticism.

Wonderful weekend stay only steps from the beautiful beach on the Atlantic. Booked a room on the fourth floor of this well kept facility. Our room was clean and well appointed. All the exterior corridors were well kept up. Staff was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Abigale at the front desk was especially helpful. The buffet breakfast was pleasing and again the staff attending to it were attentive to our needs. Location was perfect. Direct short path leading to the beach. Will definitely book a stay at this place again.

This is a nice hotel located on the Eastern side of the street so that it is on the beach. We had an ocean view room with a balcony and it was worth the extra charge. The front desk was very helpful. The only downside was the fact that they did not have area set aside with a computer for the residents to use. This was the one time that I did not take my laptop. This is the first hotel that I have stayed in for many years that put new towels in the bathroom every day and made up the be bed every day.

Wanted to write a review because I almost didn’t book based on some other reviews, but so glad we did! I am a diamond member and stay in hotels all over the state of Georgia just about every week. This hotel was just as nice, maybe even slightly better, than any other Hampton I’ve stayed in. Our room was spotless, breakfast on a busy Sunday morning was plentiful and the staff was very nice! This location is great, but as an FYI (and this is no fault of the hotel), getting down on to the beach is rather difficult and may not be possible for those with mobility issues. If that applies to you, I’d call ahead and see where the best access point is. It’s a rocky descent still damaged from the last hurricane, so just be prepared. We had to pick up and carry our beach wagon down. This was our first time bringing our dog to a hotel and there were plenty of dog relief areas and he enjoyed the view from the balcony :) We would definitely stay here again!

Hampton Review We were very disappointed to learn at check in today that beach reclamation this week has closed direct beach access from the hotel. We have stayed at this hotel before and have always been happy with the service and cleanliness. We booked here specifically because of direct beach access for our grandchildren that are staying with us, and to make it easy for our daughter to bring her four month old to the beach while we are here. If we wanted to walk two blocks to and from the beach with little children and bring a baby stroller on the sand, we would have booked at a lower cost, off beach property elsewhere.
We understand that hotels cannot control the schedule and location of beach work, hotel management IS in control of communication to guests. Local management is morally obligated to immediately advise pre-booked guests that direct beach access will be unavailable during their stay. That gives the guest control over whether or not to cancel their reservation. Revenue capture should not take priority over customer service.

Dear Valued Guest, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback regarding your recent stay. We apologize for any inconvenience that the city mandated beach restoration project caused during your stay with us. Although our direct beach access behind the hotel is closed, there are access points to the beach about two blocks south of our property. We were not informed of the date that the restoration project would begin and have since posted alerts to our website as well as sent emails to all of our arriving guests so that everyone is aware of the direct beach closure from our property. We hope that you will keep us in mind for your future travel needs and return to us after the beach restoration is complete. The city is doing a phenomenal job at preserving our beaches so guests can continue to enjoy it for years to come. Thank you, Stacey Leonard General Manager Hampton Inn St. Augustine Beach 430 A1A Beach Blvd. St. Augustine, FL 32080

The hotel staff are clearly incompetent. I am pregnant and felt faint after coming back from the beach. There is no water easily available, even at the breakfast bar. My husband was told there's bottled water to buy, but in a very rude way by the manager.
We bought a water but as we were leaving I went up just to suggest that they could have water at the breakfast. The same woman (I hadn't met her but it was definitely the one) rudely said "We have flavored water at the breakfast" and I said "I just wanted a glass of normal water". Then she rolled her eyes and told the other woman to get me a bottle of water. Turned down because I had already purchased one.
This was after breakfast. We came down at 7:45 and already the staff told us they were almost out of sausage, syrup, no muffins. Oh and they ran out of milk, so no milk for cereal or creamer for coffee. The staff over there also seemed angry and disgruntled.
For the price of the stay: not worth it.
Clearly management needs to make some changes both in how they prepare the hotel for guests and also how the staff feels. Because it feels like everyone who works there is pretty angry and miserable.
Great location. Too bad.

when we arrived, there was water dripping from the ceiling onto the desk. We were told it was from humidity. There was also water dripping on the floor. The first room we were in was a very last room at the end of the hall. even tho We reserved our rooms several weeks earlier. We are seniors with a walker so we requested a room close to the elevator. We arrived to get the very last room at the end of the hall even though there were empty rooms in between. After requesting another room we were moved the next day. The next room, we were in felt really damp, even the bed, carpet and counters felt damp. it got So bad the tile floors had pools of water. We requested maintenance who came and did some adjusting to the air conditioner and thermostat.. it Was so bad the next day, my nephew, put towels on the floor for us to walk on to keep from falling,We again called maintenance this guy didn’t see a problem. Finally we ask for the manager who moved us to another room. I want to say Vanassa at the front desk, the young lady in the dining room and the manager are wonderful but Hampton hotels are getting old they do a few cosmetic things but there are major issues. also, if you want to pay for an ocean view request the fourth floor if you’re down, you’re gonna have to try to look through the trees and you can barely see the ocean that is not worth paying the extra money for. This is the worst Hampton we have stayed in and we will be looking for other brands for upcoming trips. to be fair, they did give us one free night.

Dear JudymS2458ZM, Thank you for choosing our location for your recent travel needs. I am sorry to hear that we fell short of meeting your expectations as our entire team worked diligently to make your multiple day stay a pleasurable one. We try our best to accommodate all guests’ requests, however; we have nine different room types here on property that are sporadically located throughout the hotel. Upon arrival, you were given the exact room type that you booked. Unfortunately, that specific room type is not located in an area next to the elevators. In an attempt to accommodate your request, we gave you a comp upgrade to a Jr. Suite (next to elevators). The following day when you alerted us that your room felt damp, we immediately sent up a team to investigate. Since this was the first time we received this type of feedback about any of our guest rooms, you were moved to a Family Ocean View Suite so that you would be comfortable and would not be further inconvenienced while we looked further into the issue. You will be happy to know that after a full investigation of the room, it was determined that all components inside the room, including the air conditioner, are in proper working order. It was nice getting to know you and your family. We hope that you allow us another chance in the future to provide you with the type of experience you deserve when visiting our beautiful city. We were going to stay at the Hampton Inn (Owned By Hilton) in Saint Augustine , Florida on July 10th. When we booked the room we were told that we were receiving a beach facing room with direct access to the beach. They even told us there was a company that would set up an umbrella and chairs for us. My wife told them that she had breathing issues so the beach access was very important. When we arrived at the Inn and were told that the beach was being refurbished and there was no access to the beach and we would have to walk several blocks to access the the beach. we checked the room out and you could hardly see the ocean from our smelly room, We cancelled our reservations but our stay was a complete failure due to the lies that we were told when we booked the room. They did return our money but are mini vacation was destroyed and we drove 3 hours home. We contacted their customer service department which was useless.

Old and in need of a complete overhaul. When we arrived we got into our room and, not trying to be picky but check out my pictures. Would you question the cleanliness? What appears to be either ink or blood stains on the curtain, carpet and desk chair. Black mold on the curtain. 4th floor ceiling tiles are in desperate need of replacing. The only thing that made our stay good was Vanessa at the front desk. As soon as we checked in she had to go out to the pool and respectfully get multiple teens out of the hot tub and pool who were not registered guests. She had to do this with multiple groups of teens at various points of our stay. Hilton needs to pay to get the pool lock added to the card code lock. Crazy she had to do this so often. I guess it's just me but I prefer newer hotels with less old dirt.

After reading some of the reviews, I was hesitant to keep my reservations, But I will tell you, I do not know where the negative reviews came from. Everything about our stay was perfect. We checked in online and picked our room, They suggested 405 and it was perfect. Room was ready early. When we arrived Vanessa greeted us and was super friendly and helpful with our questions. They even have special parking for Diamond members, which is great. The room was perfect, very clean and updated, The view was the best view of the beach and the pier. We could watch the sun come up from our balcony. I even saw a shooting star, beautiful. The breakfast was good too. Added bonus Island doughnut was right next door. It was cold outside, but people were still enjoying the hot tub . Housekeeping came every morning to empty trash and replace towels. Due to the last hurricanes, the beach access was closed, but you could still walk down and view the beach. There are plenty of accesses a street over. A microwave would be nice, but maybe they can add them to the rooms. The hotel is only 4 floors, so if you are looking for a beach water view, try to get the higher floor. There were lots of pets there, which does not bother me, but if barking dogs bother you, you may inquire when checking in about where rooms where pets may be. Our stay was wonderful. Great hotel.

As a Hilton Honors member, we always try to find a Hilton property to stay with. Since the Embassy Suites was under renovation, I booked the Hampton on the beach just a few yards away. I wish we had taken a chance with Embassy. The hotel and check-in service were fine. However our room was like a morgue; recently updated but very dark and depressing. I don't think they have ever cleaned the window of our room. This room was right over the portico of the entry and over a roof laden with someone's old shorts and various debris. Walls were a mid-tone grey, carpet darker grey, furniture and behind the nice TV were almost black. The lights didn't even brighten up the space. Due to Covid, we knew there was changes in the daily breakfast service; it was cold and very limited. Even the scrambled eggs weren't very warm nor the bacon. Only whole fruit like a banana and an apple were offered for fruit. The only good thing was you could serve yourself. Most muffins and bread items where packaged.

The pool was NOT heated, and the “hot tub” was barely warmer than the pool.
Breakfast was a joke and, frankly, an insult.
Take my advice: don’t stay there.
We use S&D coffee. The dark roast is a the Euro Select bland and the light roast is the American Select blend. I am so happy that you had an amazing visit. Come back soon the coffee will be ready for you 24/7!
Unfortunately, we do not have a laundry facility on site. We do have one at our sister property the Hilton Garden Inn where you are welcome to use the laundry facility. It takes $3 in quarters. You may obtain change at the front desk.
