As Hampton Inns tend to be pretty humble hotels, I had low expectations and was just looking for clean, centrally located accommodations in downtown St Petersburg. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised to find this cute little hotel incredibly well run and welcoming. The location can't be beat, and the rooms look to be recently renovated; they include a microwave and small refrigerator, as well as a super comfortable bed. (If I have one small criticism, it's the pillows, which could have been more comfortable.) I also loved that I could access my Netflix account on the TV and was able to watch movies in the room for free. But by far the best thing about this property is the staff. From the checking-in process with the very kind Lisa to my interaction with valets, housekeeping and the morning breakfast staff, everyone was warm, friendly and bend-over-backwards helpful. Late at night I had an issue with the air conditioner, which kept blowing too cold. It was after 11pm and the maintenance staff had already gone for the day. The young man at the front desk (unfortunately I did not catch his name) came up to the room immediately and spent a good deal of time trying to shut the AC off himself and even brought me extra blankets (his idea) in case the problem persisted (it didn't). In the morning the free breakfast buffet was quite good, with an adequate number of choices and everything very fresh and tasty. Such a different experience that the one I had last December at the fancier but poorly run Bayfront Hilton a few blocks away. This place is pricey for a Hampton, but I'm guessing they pay their staff well and don't cut corners on quality and service. My compliments to the management. I will definitely be back!

Went to baseball game. Hotel secured luggage until after game and directed us to trolley to the game. Room was clean and free breakfast was good. Located near restaurants and waterfront pier. I’d stay here again.

The wonderful location and the comfort of the rooms are just the beginning of this hotel's story. We had people from 27 States and two continents coming in for my son's Wedding. From our intial contact and up through the Wedding, the staff led by Karl Johansson, was kind, cooperative and committed to make sure that the Wedding would be a most joyful celebratioon. They offered us their conference room at no cost for our extra large bachelor party of 80 people, They also generously provided the confernce room for two additional family breakfasts with our guests. All our family members were duly impressed by the level of service provided by the hotel staff throughour their stay, the cleanliness of the hotel and the plesantness of the staff. They were really a step above of what could be expected. In my opinion, the Hampton Inn was a beautiful Wedding gift to my children and our entire family. Thank you Hampton Inn Family!

Nice architecture at this well-located Hampton, walking distance to the Dali and several other major museums, plus the wonderful Pier and the Farmer's Market. I specifically asked for a "quiet room" but got a room facing the street where you could clearly hear the thumping music from the string of bars a block and a half down until 2 am. The room was fine, well-appointed with a fridge and microwave. The safe in the closet was down on the floor, so you have to get down on your hands and knees to access it. Impossible if you are of a certain age or have a disability. Who designs things this way? The breakfast was decent, with excellent fruit, cereal and waffles, lousy microwaved eggs, watery oatmeal. Note that parking is valet-only.

Nice hotel in an excellent location in downtown St Pete! The rooms were very clean, beds were comfortable and although we didn’t require our room to be cleaned each day we were asked if we needed anything each day. We enjoyed our breakfast especially the waffle bar and fresh fruit which was a very nice start to our exploring the downtown area. Although it was a little too chilly for these native Floridians to swim we did dip our toes in the pool which was being enjoyed by others:) We recommend and will be return visitors when we stay downtown rather than at the beach. I seem to be encountering these Hilton stays where the standard of cleanliness in rooms is less than optimal. Why post a sign that says the room has cleaned and disinfected for my comfort and protection if this hasn’t been addressed? The first thing I notice we’ll into the evening while sitting on the toilet is what appears toothpaste or otherwise on the wall and sink unit. At home with our children we call it a spitting contest but not what you’re wanting to see at 1130 at night in your hotel room. Maybe the staff are “cleaning quickly” and not paying attention to detail but stop telling me something that is obviously not happening.

I would give a 4.5-star review. My reason for not giving a full 5 stars is because the hotel is going through major renovations. I will be excited to see when the renovation project is completed. Heads up, as some other travelers already mentioned, the renovation does cause a bit of a problem in terms of there only being one elevator in use and the stairs are not accessible. The staff was incredible. As a seasoned traveler, I have stayed at plenty of hotels, but the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Kudos to the St. Pete’s the Hampton Inn staff! As with most cities, you will find an above average homeless population. I understand this has nothing to do directly with the hotel but it does present a problem if you're traveling late at night or if you are a solo traveler. I was also advised by staff that the stairway door had to remain locked and inaccessible because homeless people get into the hotel. That was certainly a little nerve wracking to hear. You do see a lot of homeless people in the area. They do not appear to be aggressive or unruly but you should still be alert. Traveler tip: we were going to use the FREE trolley that runs on Central Avenue to go to the museum. When we boarded the trolley there were a few indigent people on the trolley. The trolley driver told us this is common in the area and if we were expecting to come back later in the evening it would be filled with homeless people. We opted to drive to the museum, which was not too far and had plenty of free parking. If possible, I would suggest using your own transportation or car service. The location of the hotel is perfect and walkable to the St. Pete’s Pier, restaurants, nightlife, and museums.

This is the perfect place to stay if you want walkability to the Duke Energy Center venues, the Pier, great dining, and the Chihuly museum (among other sites). The hotel isn't new, but the room was comfortable and included a comfortable lounge chair with ottoman, a real desk and chair, mini fridge and microwave. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would go back again to enjoy everything the area has to offer. Parking is $18 per night but you can go in and out (not that we needed to!). The included breakfast is so-so, but coffee was ok.

We stayed for two nights with family and friends for a wedding and every time we walked past a staff member they made sure to say good morning and always made sure we had anything we needed. A special shout-out to Bree in housekeeping! She made sure to remember our names and made us feel like we knew each other all along. We mentioned that we needed a few things and she immediately dropped what she was doing (was always busy doing something) and quickly grabbed the hygiene products we needed. I felt bad because she had her hands full but she assured us with a smile so big I could see under the mask that it was no problem and to PLEASE let us know if we needed anything else at all. Thank you Bree 🙏🏼
The managers here obviously know what they’re doing and deserve some recognition. Every staff member here seems to love their job and making sure we loved our stay.

Terrible valet service! You are at their mercy! It’s so inconvenient and troublesome. The room was very dingy and a palmetto bug woke me up in the middle of the night and flew into the ceiling! The housekeepers were taking so loud in the hallway and it woke me up unnecessarily! My room is across the street and you can hear the cars and people taking. Will never go back to this hotel!

We parked at a nearby (walking distance) from the hotel. Rates were a little better, but they only took cash, no credit card. And, yes, street parking is difficult to find and they have pricey meters.
If the Hollander is the same price or lower, you might want to stay there. Have not seen the Hollander. Stayed at the Hampton and was very pleased. We did stay for free as we had a Hilton free night.
There are more places to choose from in the St. Petersburg area.
