Built in 1933, this charming hotel has a wonderfully eclectic interior design. Refinished hardwood floors and the black & white bathroom floor tiles give hints from a bygone era. My room was immaculate! I travel often and some hotel rooms lack when it comes to cleanliness but you will struggle to find anything out of place or an area that was missed by housekeeping. The dresser/chest also houses a microwave and small frig and the bathroom has the typical bath amenities and a hair dryer. Bedding was neat & crisp — like a cocoon — just perfect. The common areas are cozy and inviting with a working fireplace and vintage photos of St. Pete's everywhere you turn.

The restaurant / Tap Room has really good food with moderate pricing and the little café just beyond the restaurant serves up amazing desserts (plus bagels, English muffins, etc) and a robust cup of coffee. You can also order a meal to go if you prefer to eat in your room.

The Hollander Hotel is centrally located in St Pete's and is within walking distance of museums, restaurants, shopping, the pier, and more. This Northeast Historic District with its cobblestone streets and old-world charm should not be missed. Take a drive up Beach Dr to see some pretty amazing late 19th century Beaux-Arts residential architecture mixed with a smattering of new construction. With the arctic blast (snow & rain) we are all enduring this last week in January, beach-going was out of the question but I did manage to drive across the peninsula to the Gulf, which was just a few miles. Obviously, the beach was empty but I managed to dodge raindrops just long enough to snap a quick photo.

I would be remiss if I did not mention how friendly and accommodating ALL of the staff was at the Hollander. I appreciate a smile and a hello. Kindness is everything in this crazy world we live in and simply recognizing someone with such a small, painless gesture makes all the difference. The Hollander has this atmosphere, hands down.

This was my first stay at the Hollander Hotel and it certainly won’t be my last!

Let me start by saying the staff was amazing. Big shout out to Billy at the front desk when our A/C wasn't working correctly in our room. He got us a different room within 5 minutes. The room was very clean with comfortable beds 5 fluffy pillows. Housekeep empties trash, makes bed, replace towels daily. The hotels unique ambiance and many amenities sets this place apart from many other hotels. From the food, coffee, desserts and drink choices at the bar; everything was fresh and delicious. We ate multiple meals at the Tap Room and received the food within 10 minutes every time. Being around 5 blocks from Central Ave makes this hotel the perfect distance to walk, drive, uber or take the free shuttle to the downtown area. There is a reason this place is rated the #1 hotel in St.Petersburg. We will definitely booking this hotel again on our next visit to the area.

I stayed that Hollander last month for a mini reunion to meet up with family and friends I have not seen in years. It was such a great experience. I was greeted by Jeff at the front desk who gave me the lowdown on the hotel, the restaurant and what was local in the area that I could walk to. Because I have some health issues, I was graciously given the option to sit in the hotel lobby and people watch. I did explore the AMAZING coffee shop and will admit I had chocolate mouse and coffee for brunch! I don’t know who makes those treats, but they were amazing. I was back there several times for muffins and cake! I will also comment on how well that bakery was run - it seems it supports the restaurant but I felt like I had their full attention. The remembered what I drank each and every time I came in for coffee!

The best things (for me) was the staff had identified the group I was meeting with and put us in rooms close to each other which was a great bonus and easy for me to visit without to much effort. Nick, who was also at the front desk, was extremely kind and asked about where I was from and we ended up talking about similar places we have been which made the whole interface with staff and management seem very special.

Finally, the food! I had the chance to have a formal large group dinner and a breakfast and I will admit I had to put in some extra steps after! The food was extraordinary and the service was just as great. Although it was busy and obviously the place to be and be seen, I was not rushed and my group was treated extremely kindly. I am always impressed when people remember names when they meet so many people.

I can’t wait to go back. I’ve already planned a trip next month for my 28th anniversary and I am so excited! This place is truly special and the people who work there make it extremely memorable!

First stay at a boutique hotel and I wanted to like it. I did not. (See the end of pool/service area for the worst of it)

The room: Room wasn’t bad and is serviceable at the right price. Bed was too soft for my liking but I like a hard mattress, it did not keep me awake. No working outlets next to the bed on either side. The hotel hung large panel pictures over them. The bathroom is tiny. If sharing the room will have to keep toiletries outside as there is no space in the bathroom itself. Don’t except two people to get ready in the bathroom at the same time. I recommend an outside facing room as pool is a party scene and loud.

Pool/Service: At check in the customer service was brief but fine. Things really took a turn for the worse with my stay when I went to the pool. To start they make you check a water bottle even if it’s empty. Stronger security the TSA for no outside food and beverage. They claim it’s for the liquor control board rules, however many of the people by the pool were visibly over served. Lots of people smoking and vaping. Pool is small and dirty as well as over crowded with shoulder to shoulder people, unless standing in the middle. The lowlight of my entire stay was when I was sitting at a table, at the pool; and a bar server came and picked up the chairs and table I was sitting at with out asking me, and moved them to a rented cabana. I have never been so disrespected in my life. I complained to the hostess/ water bottle bouncer of the pool and she offered me a free drink despite my leaving on my last day.

Did not get the chance to try the restaurant nor did I want to by the end of the stay and free parking and water bottles were nice.

I can assure you he table incident was a complete misunderstanding and I have talked with and coached the New employee on what to do in a situation like that, I do apologize for the confusion. We stayed at this hotel for a quick two nights to see a Rays baseball game on our tour of ballparks. I chose this hotel based on the other reviews and quite frankly I’m perplexed.

First, the staff are quite lovely and we were quite thankful for the shuttle service to and from the game (they will take you anywhere within a mile radius).

The hotel is older and that isn’t necessarily a bad thing—I enjoyed the old photos throughout the property. Our room was clean.

But.

I was shocked at the lack of noise proofing around the doors. Our room was on the first floor and not only were we treated to the noise of those in our hallway (including a poor anxious dog barking for over 30 minutes+ straight at around 10:30 p.m.) but the noise from the bar area at the front of the hotel was also VERY VERY
loud. This isn’t a problem during the day really but it’s pretty annoying when u get awoken by loud guests at 12:30 a.m.

The bathroom is the size of a closet. I borrowed this from a recent reviewer because TRUTH. Definitely the smallest hotel bathroom we’ve ever had and we’ve been to hotels all over the world.

While I enjoyed the photos throughout the hotel the decor is quite tired and the room hallway was so very uninviting. A guest returning to his room late the first night loudly said “Redrum Redrum.”

The only reason I’m giving the hotel 3 stars instead of 2 is because of the staff. The nighttime noise is insane especially, I’m assuming, if you are unlucky enough to get a room on the first floor but I feel certain the
Issue with the doors is hotel-wide.

All in all, I’m definitely exhausted from lack of sleep—something one shouldn’t say after a two-night hotel stay!

I always stay here when I’m in town for business. The location is walkable to everything you need, rooms are spotless and the front desk staff is the friendliest I’ve encountered: Caleb always remembers me by name and never hesitates to answer my endless questions about the area and has had great recommendations. I always look forward to my return visits; won’t be disappointed.

Management should be ashamed. We went with a group for NYE, two nights. On 1/1/25 I watched pool staff search the stroller of a family and confiscate Goldfish crackers. When I questioned it I was told it was a ‘health code’ issue and NO out issue was allowed. The manger then told me they would buy the kids appetizers b.s. 30 minutes later two gay couples arrived with their Publix Fruit cups - no questions asked. Discriminate much. The Hollander should be ashamed. Families should avoid.

Hello Kerri, I am the one who talked with you yesterday about your Large Yeti cup, I showed you our signs, explained the rules and I walked inside with you to get you our complimentary water from the front desk, you had made a comment about outside food and I explained that since we have a restaurant outside food was not allowed and I even said I would buy the kids apps . I had informed my bartenders that when your cabana ordered food to please take off the apps. as far as a gay couple as you put it eating fruit cups, which I don't understand why the phrase gay couple was used instead of just couple. I can guarantee you that if they would of been seen upon their entrance to the pool, they would have been asked the same as you. Everyone is always welcome at the Hollander, everyone is treated with respect and kindness, that's what makes us a Great melting pot. So saying management is disgraceful for doing their jobs and following the rules, just because you didn't get your way, is not a fair thing to say. We are a small family owned business that opens our doors to everyone and supports all of our community. Thanks, Nick

Our second stay - good location, free parking, lovely pool area, nice eclectic vibe. Staff were very helpful in advising on restaurants and quickly dealing with a plumbing problem.
Restaurant was pleasant, serves decent “bar food”, but service is slow.
A few considerations:
The hotel is downtown but not very close to anything. It’s not on the fashionable beach drive, doesn’t have a view. It’s a mile walk to the main pier. The hotel has discontinued their shuttle which is a shame.
The rooms are fine but not very spacious. The bathroom is microscopic ( as in you can touch the door if you’re in the shower). Then again, a basic room has fridge and microwave, and a closet (a real one with a door) and several large storage drawers. Main thing we missed was a second chair to sit in.
The website seems to advertise as a party hotel. It may get really loud on the weekends. We did not have issues with noise when we were there, and the place was busy.

First of all, Chris K. is awesome. I was supposed to have a room block for my wedding in October 2020 until we had to postpone due to Covid, and Chris and I literally exchanged dozens of emails over the year+ since we made the decision to postpone. Unfortunately a room block was already booked for our new date in October 2021 but Chris worked with me to create and alternative type of block with rooms at The Hollander and at the sister hotel next door, The Avalon (which is also amazing and worth a look). Chris wrote the most thorough email responses to my multiple questions, always within just a day or two of me sending my email. When I finally got the chance to meet him after over a year of emails and phone calls, he was just as wonderful in person. He took it upon himself to ensure that the welcome bags I had created for our guests were distributed between the two hotels so they could be placed in each room before guests arrived. I had several guests coming in from New Jersey, New York, Virginia, and Colorado, and Chris went above and beyond to put me at ease and feel confident that the hotel accommodations were not something that I needed to worry about - which of course they weren't! All our guests were very pleased with the staff and the hotel itself, especially the delicious food at the Tap Room and the pool, cabanas, and pool bar (after all, it was already way too cool to use the pool up north and out west). I had visited The Hollander prior to deciding to have my room block there and I immediately became a fan. I wanted to give my guests the chance to see a true, vibey, eclectic St. Pete hotel and I'm so glad I chose The Hollander (and The Avalon) over another generic downtown hotel. Plus, free parking! I personally stayed in one of the Queen Suites, which was perfect for getting ready on the day of my wedding and comfortably accommodated me, my five bridesmaids, my mother, a hair stylist, and a makeup lady. It was also spacious enough to host the after-after party for all those still awake when we got back. :) I definitely recommend the Queen Suite for other brides. Thank you to Chris K. and all the staff that made our visit so memorable! Save me a seat in the Tap Room because I will be back for sure!
