WOW. What a wonderful place to stay. It's in a central location of Sanibel with everything within biking distance and several things within walking distance. Brenda & Lenny ? I can't say enough nice things about them. Two of the nicest people I've ever met. The room was great. Very quaint, quiet and romantic. Though not directly on the beach,...

Our experience was pretty much opposite that of Anne F.'s family. We were driving from Ft. Myers to the Ocala area to visit relatives and decided to spend a couple of nights on Sanibel. We had visited Sanibel several years back and loved the nature and beaches there. The Kona Kai was available and within our price range ( high...

My husband, myself and our 4 year-old son come to Sanibel every year for our holiday. In the past we have always stayed at one of the bigger beach resorts. This year we needed to save money and chose the Kona Kai. It was the best decision we could have made. We had the most fabulous holiday ever thanks to...

We stayed a couple of nights here and found it an oasis after the zoo of Fort Meyers. Much money has been spent and the result is excellent. The rooms are close together and the balconies are shared but this was not a problem. Having the first caffeine-dose early morning sitting on the verandah was a wonderfully tranquil, peaceful experience....

We drove onto the Island with no reservations and thought we'd wing it! I had seen Kona Kai online before we went out to Fla. I stopped in and spoke with Brenda and explained our situation. Not only did she set us up with a nice, newly renovated room, which was very comfortable and had great water pressure in the...

My husband and I recently returned from a 4-day stay at the Kona Kai. A Sanibel resident on a Tripadvisor forum suggested it as a budget option, and it really worked out for us. In reflecting upon our stay at the Kona Kai, here are a few of our thoughts. We stayed there as a couple and went with the...

If Sanibel is your destination, Kana Kai is a must visit. We loved the clean rooms, moderate price and tropical grounds. Lenny and Brenda made us feel like family. Will definitely make it back for another visit.

Since I last visited Sanibel Island many many years ago, it has become quite pricey. I found the Kona Kai through tripadvisor, and had a wonderful stay. The managers Lenny and Brenda were both very warm and helpful, the grounds are quiet and interesting, and my room was great. They suggested places to eat and there are bicycles there to...

We paid $200 a night for a queen efficiency. The grounds are lovely. Didn't swim in the pool but it looked inviting. HOWEVER, for $200 a night, I expect amenities like shampoo and a hair dryer. The room was certainly livable, but the off-season rate is fair, the high season rate is overpriced for what you get. Also, the kitchenette...

Sanibel Island isn't exactly noted for being inexpensive. The overnight charges at its swanky hotels look like telephone numbers and can induce hysteria at first glance. But it is an utterly gorgeous place and really really worth staying on for a few days, to experience that laid-back relaxation - as well as the legendary Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge of course....
