The staff are generally nice. The manager on duty when we arrived was a gentleman by the name of Edward Kaiser who was extremely friendly and helpful and accommodating. He gave us lots of good local information and it seemed especially interested in helping us. The morning manager on the second day seemed to be preoccupied with other details including talking repetitively with the family member of another customer who was trying to split a room payment. When we asked for the bagged breakfast, I was told, after a long wait that "the truck hadn't arrived and that the housekeeping staff had not arrived but that they would bring more coffee to the room later. We never received a breakfast that morning and we eventually went out and bought instant coffee packets. Other staff were more helpful in that same person, a few days later, told us that there were no more coffee cups. We had saved our paper coffee cups but housekeeping, who had come in the day before, had taken our cops. To that person's credit, she did come back later with some Styrofoam cups. When I had told Edward about not getting coffee the second day, he offered to immediately go to the storeroom where it was kept and one of his assistants actually went and did it and was extremely gracious about it and refused a tip. The breakfasts were bagged because of the COVID situation and housekeeping was "as needed" to reduce exposures which I was agreeable with and they did come in a couple of times when requested to do so. I am not sure if the place allowed pets or not as we did not bring hours and did not ask but I believe I saw some pets there. The room was not too bad and we had a microwave and a refrigerator. The exterior was somewhat deteriorated but it looked like they were in the process of doing upgrades. There was a pool. We did not use the exercise room but apparently they had a small resistance machine as well as a treadmill and/or possibly an elliptical machine or some such. I will say that the morning manager who initially stated she could not help with the coffee etc. was very pleasant and apologetic about the coffee cups and did go out of her way to help with that. The room was clean and there were no bugs. I would again like to add that Edward was exceptional in his service and attitude.

We checked in the middle of all of the covid-19 issues & was very happy with how clean everything was. We took Clorox wipes and wiped our room down just be sure and they were still white after wiping everything down. Excellent job keeping things clean. The staff are wonderful and welcoming every time we visit the hotel is a little older but it's clean and everything works like it should. Plus it's like 5 mins from the beach. We will continue to stay here on our trips to Sarasota.

Close to Sarasota Memorial Hospital but not worth $250 for 2 nights. Had to stay there the night prior to surgery so it was convenient. Beds were comfortable and linens were good. All outside corridors. There is an outside elevator to the outside walkway. Surgery was delayed one week so I had to change the dates of our stay (still same days of the week), but the motel changed my room rate and increased it by $50. I phoned Booking.com but they said the pricing was up to the motel and they could not honor what they, Booking.com, had already quoted me. They said they phoned the motel on my behalf while I held the line, but that the motel could not change the pricing back to my original price. Wow, there must be some small print somewhere! I'm not happy with that, and will search out a different motel next time and a different hotel booking site as well.

The first thing that hits you is the age of the building. Intuition tells you not to stay but you decide to give it a chance thinking you are helping a family who owns it. Than you walk into the room and are surprised by how untidy everything is. Door handles are loose, the bed is not crisp, there are stains on the furniture. Next, you jump into the shower to refresh and realize that your feet are full of the dirt you picked up from the carpet. The mirror in the bathroom door is not attached and its frame is flaking. You lay on the bed and feel an itch. It is not clear if there are bugs or if the sheets were washed with very hard chemicals. Whatever it is, it did not clean the sheets completely. The sheets seem to be willing to tell a long story. At night, the refrigerator sound sounded less like a compressor than a high-voltage arc. And with the excuse of covid, no hotels cleans daily, which just pushes this place right over the border.
As we left, we couldn't help but to feel dirty. We all showered as soon as we got home and took all clothes directly to the washing machine just in case we brought guests.

The location is wonderful if you like great Chinese or Mexican food (with amazing restaurants staff and servers) within 2 blocks and a Starbucks across the parking lot, plus it is easy to drive to beaches, museums or anywhere in Sarasota from the hotel. However, half of the desk service workers we encountered including the check-in worker greeted us with lackadaisical borderline unpleasant to rude customer service skills. The bathroom was about as old, small, never been repainted and plain as you could get, but the hot water shower pressure was good. A smoke detector hung open disconnected from the ceiling next to a presumably newer one (I guess it was too much of a bother to unscrew and remove the old one), and the deadbolt lock hinge hung from one screw so it was unusable - we reported it to the maintenance man who said he’d come fix it but he never did. Beware that if you call the hotel reservation desk or book online you might be inadvertently going through “Reservations.com” which then surreptitiously charges a $20 fee tacked on your bill which the in-person hotel front desk people say they can’t help you with. We paid extra for a view overlooking the pool, rather than the parking lot, but other guests were allowed to smoke cigarettes on the landing and below outside our rooms, making the view or even opening our door very unpleasant. There is no hotel breakfast as advertised, only “grab and go bags” which is understandable due to Covid, but was not advertised as such. The maintenance man refused to wear a mask when he came to our room to unclog a toilet. This place could be easily cleaned up to be a more enjoyable experience for the price.

Stayed one night and didn't have a reservation. Denise at the front desk was so nice and friendly! Made us feel very welcome. We stayed in room 216, on the second floor. No one was over us. There are 2 buildings. The other building had 3 floors and an elevator.
King bed very comfortable. Room is basic and clean. Bathtub/tiles very recently renovated and beautifully done. Shower hot.
Vending machines, laundry room, pool.Didn't get a chance to use the pool.
Breakfast included in rate and plenty to eat. Breakfast room has waffle machine, eggs ,bacon ,breads, toaster, danish ,cereals ,coffee tea water hot choc pouch ,pb jelly ,honey ,hot sauce, biscuits and gravy ,juice machine.
First floor rooms are at parking lot level and can probably be noisy so wouldn't recommend first floor.
Exterior of hotel should be updated but overall its great value for the price. Great central location. 5 min drive to pier and Siesta Key.

Everything I read about this location was pretty accurate. It is INCREDIBLY dated and run down. Very old art and furniture. The tub in our room was chipped and the faucet heads were functional, but barely. Touch up and repair work is needed everywhere— and it looked like they were doing that with some of the rooms that appeared to be emptied out. The staff was very wonderful and responsive. Ed Kaiser was helpful from the first night —making suggestions and sharing ‘insider’ tips and information that was dead on. BUT— they also ran out of things! We were there for a week and one morning they didn’t have breakfast ‘bags’ yet— what they are doing instead of the ‘gathering area’ for breakfast with covid19. They did not service the rooms unless you asked them to— and I actually liked that— but during our week they were out of shampoo/conditioner one day, coffee another, and coffee cups on another still. There is a Publix just down the street, so we basically got a few supplies there. It was nice having the small refrigerator/microwave in the room. The rooms are also a nice size, so not too cramped for staying multiple days. I did give this 4 stars because the price was also amazing compared to what we say available otherwise for the location— you do get what you pay for! I would have given the staff, price and location all 5 stars. The current state of the rooms based on ours— abou1.5.

I am not in the room yet - may have to update this later. While I’m annoyed at not getting the requested room location, i find myself SUPER uncomfortable with the lack of Covid precautions. I have been driving across the country to get to elderly relatives and this is the first place where the ONLY precaution is markers on the floor for distancing which seem to be suggestions. The clerks aren’t wearing masks at all. They lean close to you to show you the room map. There is no hand sanitizer on the front desk. They hand you the same Uncleaned pen the previous guest used. Not a hint of awareness that a guest might not wish to be exposed. This is the first hotel in nearly 4000 miles of travel that has not shown precautions. (Guests sometimes don’t wear masks, but the staff in every other hotel has).

Front desk Jenn and Bitsy and the manager are amazing and polite.
The breakfast lady and her amazing breakfast fills your belly with warm goodness. Its Open from 6am to 9am
Housekeeping does an excellent job roo s look nice and thoroughly cleaned.
The room are comfortable and quiet and the beds and pillows and my personal favorite the towels are soft and inviting.
Laundry is cheap price but only 2 machines 2 wash 2 dry but only 1.75 to 2.00 each and 1.25 for soap.
The street is a bit on the noisy side but that is to be expected being across from one of the only hospitals in the area.
There are fast food joints and high scale restaurants in either direction, and the beach is not too far away.
Overall I like it here they are pet friends so fur babies are welcome just let the staff know so they don't get a shock when coming for housekeeping.

Chose this hotel for proximity to Siesta Key Beach. Upon arrival the room (105) had a musty smell (we purchased room smellys) and the drawer to the dresser was completely broken. Luckily we enjoy showers not baths because the tub was stained. I’d never take a bath there. After 2 showers the tub was water filled and took 8 hours to drain. I gave it 2 stars because the beds were clean and comfortable, the tv and air conditioning worked and the front desk (Barbara) was very nice. Normal breakfast for hotels, typical eggs, ham, biscuits & gravy stuff, but it was good. Probably wouldn’t stay here again only as a last resort.
