I have been staying at this hotel for 6+ years. Out of all of the hotels on the 'old Florida motel strip', this is the best one. I will agree that the hotel needs a remodel but it's still clean, safe, and quiet. You are 5 minutes from downtown, 10-15 minutes from Lido Beach, and 10 minutes from the airport. The property is safe and the hotel has always provided overnight security. Yes, you will see scuffs on the walls, chipping paint here or there, or carpet that needs to be replaced. But for a hotel so close to downtown Sarasota, it's quite the bargain. So if you're looking for the perfect, fancy hotel...just drive down the road a little bit but be prepared to fork over a lot of money. Or go stay in hotels of similar price near the interstate but be prepared to sit in 20+ minutes of traffic just to get to downtown. You will get a clean room, excellent internet, and dedicated staff (many of whom have been there since I started staying) for a great value. You have a Subway right next door to the hotel and a good take-out Chinese restaurant across the street. If you want to be more fancy, drive downtown or over the Lido Circle. So to summarize, don't expect perfection when you stay here but do expect an excellent location and a good nights sleep. PS: If you have a problem, talk with the front desk. I also recommend you book directly with the hotel.

Okay so we stayed here for Memorial Day and I will start with the positives. The outside of the hotel was cute and I liked the foliage and the fountain in the front. It’s also very close to downtown and the bridge that leads to Lido Beach which I loved. The location is probably the best thing about it. The check in process was also very easy and quick. And the staff was friendly. I was also satisfied with the cleanliness of my room. As far as the negatives, the inside of the lobby (even though it was nice and open with windows) needed updating. The carpets and furniture were outdated and not appealing. Also there was a strong lemon scent when you walked in I’m assuming from the cleaner they use. And even though that may seem like a positive at first, after the first few times smelling it, it starts to get a little overbearing. When it comes to the room, it was clean but I had trouble getting in the door. There were also a couple lightbulbs that did not work. And I noticed some stains on the lamp shade.

Overall I was satisfied, but it just needs a facelift and updating throughout.

Super courteous staff all around, from the front desk to housekeeping and maintenance. The hotel and rooms are a bit outdated. The location was convenient for trips to and from Siesta Key, although during busy times it could take a good 40 minutes to go 10 miles.

This hotel has pictures of the outside and entrance that look nice. However, once you get past the front desk, it is terrible. The walls are dirty and scratched; the carpet is very stained and old; and the the rooms are grimy. In addition, there was a distinct odor of marajuana and urine in the stairwell. The shower had to run for ten minutes before we got hot water and even then it was only warm. When we told the front desk about it, they told us to "turn the faucet the other way" as though we didn't know how to use the facilities. When we assured them we knew how to turn a faucet on, they seemed very uninterested in addressing the issue. In addition, the electrical outlets were coming apart, out of the wall, and the walls behind the outlets were soft and gave when pushed on. In addition, they say they have a "fitness room" - but none of the equipment worked. They had a stair climber and treadmill that were inoperable and an exercise bike with a damaged seat. They advertise that they serve breakfast, but this was sadly lacking. The coffee tasted as though it was left over from the night before and was lukewarm and the food tasted as though it had sat for a week. Nasty! There was trash in the elevator that stayed there from one night to the next, and obviously wasn't being cleaned. We would not stay here again ever, and I would discourage anyone else from doing so, either. Don't waste your money.

My wife and I went on a business trip to Sarasota and trusted La Quinta stays up until now. This is the worst possible facility I have ever stayed at.
Roach infested, ants in the living room sink. Stains on the bed. Gaps on moldings with open must black visual sittings. Please look at pictures and hope Corporate will see this extremely substandard room with flaws you will see regarding our stay.
We only stayed one of the three nights and got refunded two of t be three days but want the first day credited and sent. A roving alchaholic pretending to be part of the hotel was bothering us and wanted to know our room. The front desk knew of his intrusive man. Things like roaches. Holes the wall. Ants in the sink, dirty shower with toilet paper spool was ripped out of the wall leaving a gaping whole. Foul smell was in this room as it was the third room we explored as the first room was worse if you can imagine that after this review.
The breakfast was a bag with apple juice, muffin, and a solid oat bar. Stains on the sheets, open moldy black spaces in the molding and much more make this a botchery of a hotel franchise. We were actually anxious about sleeping here. Please don't stay here.

We booked to stay at this hotel on our way to and from the airport. It was not a great experience.

The first thing we noticed was the number of seemingly homeless people sitting on the front and sides of the hotel, this becomes questionable later when we see these folks coming in and out of various rooms throughout the two stays. They would go inside for an hour or so then retreat to the outside again. They were definitely not guests. In one case the person brought his bike inside and left it in the hall. Were they allowing these rooms for the homeless to shower and cool off, it did not appear so because they were still dirty when they came out. Something was very off.

Our room did not have shampoo, conditioner or soap and only one washcloth. I mentioned to the clerk as we departed and she said we should have called down to her. Refrigerator during first stay was not turned on. The second stay (non-refundable) was the same situation. There was a coffee pot but no cream and sugar and one pod for two people, no shampoo and soap. We visited the breakfast area at 6:30AM to find they were out of sugar and the regular coffee pot was empty. I asked the clerk (Maria) and she said she would ask breakfast attendant, 45 minutes later and still no coffee and sugar. At 9am we asked for breakfast bag and were told it was too late to get one. We saw these possible homeless people eating breakfast bags in the parking lot. They were smoking and throwing cigarette butts into the fountain.

In the AM on second visit we left to catch our early flight and asked for our breakfast bag and were told they were out of them.

Clerks were not wearing masks and two of the apparent homeless men were wondering the halls and in the elevator with no shoes on.

All in all it was a poor stay.

For the price, I don't think the hotel was worth it. There are others in the area for around the same amount that are nicer, cleaner, and provide the customer service you expect. We had so many issues with the room and nothing was done about it. The bathroom was disgusting, the beds were uncomfortable, and the TV didn't work 80% of the time we were there

It is difficult to find a place during a holiday, specially with Covid 19 and also with a 4 legged friend.
We stayed 3 days at La Quinta Inn at 1803 Tamiami Trl. in Sarasota and we had a great time !! On the last day check out was at 12:00 noon and we went to have brunch at a restaurant near by but it took longer than we expected, I called the front desk and they were very nice, Sherry Heine gave me assurance by saying "Don't worry !! enjoy your brunch" We did enjoy the brunch came back about 30 min. later. La Quinta is very close to everything you want to see and enjoy and Sherry is very nice along with her crew !!

My husband travels a lot for work and we have stayed in many La Quinta's, so on this last minute trip felt better to stick with what we know. Not bad on entering late at night, staff friendly and lobby welcoming. Room not so good, microwave filthy and smelly, fridge rusty, bottom of coffee maker horrid, mattress stained and cigarette burns with a very poor protector over it. The headboard of the bed had dirty stains where heads rested and needs sanitizing.

The main problem was that this location is also being used for long stay patrons which should be made clear to people before they book. If given this information earlier we would never have stayed here. It's a totally different clientele and made the stay very uneasy and uncomfortable.

The only good thing here is it's location.

The hotel was terrible. The room was not clean and not up to reasonable standards. The carpet in room 217 had a large hole/tear and multiple large stains. The sofa was torn up and in disrepair.... it looked like a cat used it as a scratching post and won the battle. There was a hole in the wall and trim falling off the door frame. My wife found multiple hairs on the bed sheets and in the bathtub, along with a live roach, really disgusting. We also had to ask for a bed blanket since the bed was made with sheets only. Breakfast also did not match the description. The Wyndham hotel website states "Start your day with a free Bright Side Breakfast® of waffles, fresh fruit, and more". There were no waffles, no eggs, no sausage, etc. They only offered a meager selection of packages muffins and granola bars, really substandard. Also, we stay at La Quinta due to normally not having any pet fee, and the website states 'pet friendly', but we were charged a pet fee of $20 at this hotel for our 1 small dog, very annoying and disappointing. I suggest corporate La Quinta do a full inspection of this property.... it does not represent the La Quinta brand at all properly.
