I'm writing this on April 12, 2021. This hotel opened only 2 months ago. Expect some noise from construction of the hotel and apartment building across the street.

The things listed should already be on the list for management to address.

All in all, our stay was good and clean and the staff is friendly.

Please add:
Shelves in the showers
Umbrellas in the pool and patio area
Cups in the gym
Wipes in the gym
Towels in the pool area
Give customers new keys when they request a late checkout because their original key will time out.
Return cushions in the pool area furniture in a more timely manner.

I would not recommend for over 60's.

There is a little table, with a seating area that looks almost like an old school diner. But what’s interesting about this, as relates to our high tech world, is that I was able to use my mouse without needing a mouse pad (if they did that on purpose - wow)! In addition, the hairdryer in the room was a very good hairdryer. Normally I spend too long, trying to dry my hair with a hotel dryer. I also appreciate it, a mini Refridge in the room, because I do like to chill my water. There was not a microwave, so I could not buy anything from the market that required one. I may have missed the microwave in the market. I didn’t use the nightlight, but I realize it could be useful to others, there was a very small nightlight integrated into the wall of the WC. In addition, I am often perplexed about how to dry my hair in front of a mirror after I’ve showered and the steam is in the area with the sink. However, they were thoughtful enough to install a full length mirror next to a plug and away from the shower (and high humidity). Plug placement was great! Also, loved the mobile key. Breezed right in, skipped the hellos - it was late. Aloft rooms are small, but if you’re good with the tier, price and general vibe - This is a great hotel!

I just don't "get" the decor and design of Aloft Hotels but if they are in a location that works when I'm traveling, I'll stay. The Aloft Tampa Midtown while in a great location is just weird in my opinion. Again, the location is great. The hotel is connected to an Element and the ground floor has shops and restaurants. There's a Whole Foods within walking distance as well. You can buy a few snacks in the lobby and their bar recently reopened. Aloft shares a rooftop pool and bar with the Element. The lobby is on the sixth floor of the building with guest rooms on that floor and well as floors 2 through 5. The odd thing is one needs to use their room key to gain access to floors 2 through 5 but the door to access the rooms on the sixth floor doesn't require that. While I'm not sure about other rooms, ours was one on the sixth floor, it was small. When you enter the room, you're right in the bathroom area. There's no closet, just some sort of rack and the one in our room only had four hangers. There's a cubby type space and safe under the rack. The wallpaper in the bathroom was just weird. I did like the nightlight in the toilet area. The sink is small and the spout is set back so that the water flow doesn't really allow you to get your hands under the flow to wash your hands or face. The shower was big and the wall mounted shampoo, conditioner and shower gel meant you won't run out. The lighting in the bathroom was a bit dark and for the ladies, that's not great when putting on make up. There was only a divider separating the bathroom area from the beds so the humidity and steam from the shower filled the room. The window was large which allows lots of light in however if you want privacy, there's an apartment building across the way, you need to lower the shade which makes the room dark. Space in the sleeping area was tight. There was an odd corner sofa type seat with a table, no desk, and odd cube stool looking thing and a nice refrigerator. The room is white which gives a stark feel. While I didn't like decor or room layout, my stay was good. Friendly staff and again, the location is what made me choose it. Also, it's only a couple of years old.

I was apprehensive to stay here based on the very mixed reviews. We really enjoyed our short stay here, though.

All the staff we encountered were kind and helpful. The rooftop pool was really nice and stayed open late (11 pm). The rooms were clean, and staff was attentive when we needed additional towels, late check out, and to store luggage. There is a free breakfast that included eggs and sausage. The dining room was extremely clean and a staff member was on-site all morning restocking and cleaning the area.

We didn't eat at the rooftop restaurant, and it was quite pricey, but prices at the bar were reasonable. There are a variety of restaurants within walking distance at various price points and types. I recommend making reservations for the sushi restaurant next door as they never had available seating.

I read the comments about the shower being open. It is an unusual design, and I would not recommend this hotel if you're traveling with a group or extremely conservation. The actual toilet is in an enclosed room with a door, but the shower is not behind a door but a partition that separates the sleeping area from the bathroom. If someone is showering, you need to remain on the bed until they are done to give them privacy. That design was the only negative thing about this hotel but was manageable for our group.

I checked into this aloft and I thought the hotel was nicely decorated and newly built. I had no issues with my room until I woke up the first morning and stepped into the shower. The bottom of my feet were black from the floor not being cleaned. I went down to the front desk and the lady was very apologetic and said she and the head of housekeeping would go up to my room and take care of the issue.
I got back to my room at 6:45 pm after being gone since 8:00 am. I used a wash cloth and wiped an area of the floor in the bathroom and my floor was still dirty.
I took a bath towel and mopped my floor in my room. Just take a look at the picture.
Very disappointed.

We stayed here because it was close to where wedding dinner was going to be held and we did not want to drive to far after long road trip. We came to check in and nobody was at the desk and we waited almost 10 minutes. I will note we had the same issue when we were checking out so this is obviously an issue. Room is decorated nicely (very modern) but as another person wrote in review, the shower has no privacy which is not good for obvious reasons. There was also not much space to put your clothes if you wanted to unpack. Valet parking only which was $30 and of course you have to tip them when they get your car. The hotel is in a good location so that is one plus. Overall if you need hotel in Tampa and see this hotel, keep searching and try to find better.

Tiny, tiny, TINY room, more suited to a major city style but of lesser quality. Bed was ok, TV was good size and easy to see. The faucet poured water onto the side of the sink every time it was turned on. Installation snafu? We are Platinum elite, and were not offered any upgrades, including the bare minimum of a bottled water, and were told breakfast was only available with a fee. It turned out to be free, but that's about what it was worth. The daily frittatas were close to inedible. The pool was closed for "maintenance," though not a word of this was on the website. Midtown itself is nice if limited, and calling it "midtown" is real estate speak only, though that's not the hotel's fault. We enjoyed having a Whole Foods nearby for supplies. Sal Y Mar (rooftop) had a nice ambience and drinks. $35 for the required valet parking is highway robbery, given that parking is ample.

It's definitely a cute place, and it was clean. But upon arrival there was no clear signage in the outside with regards as to where one should park, so we just guessed. The only option we could find was the valet that was charging $25 per day. The check in was on the 4th (or 6th) floor, so that is something to be aware of. There was only one employee working a long line at the check in desk, so I made my check in as quick as possible, and in process I forgot to ask about the parking situation, so I sent a message through the Expedia app, which I had used to book the hotel. I never did receive and answer, so we ended up using the valet so as to be sure our car was not towed.
While it was clean, the decor was interesting, and the location was right for our particular needs, I doubt I would choose to stay here again.

It’s kind of great to be traveling again for work, yet unfortunate that I’ve been landed with this ‘gem’.

My basic requirements for a hotel are not crazy. However do I draw the line at requiring a plate (yes a plate) when eating breakfast. However the master-minds behind the ‘Aloft’ (terrible name) view a plate as an unnecessary and bourgeois extravagance and not something to be made, willy nilly, available. In fact not available at all. Instead breakfast is ‘served’ in a flimsy cardboard box with the luxury of thin plastic knives and forks. Have you ever tried buttering hot toast on the bottom of a four inch square cardboard box? Godam, nothing get the day off to a better start. Seriously, some farm animals are treated better than this.

So this is a low budget, zero excitement, cheap and nasty hotel. The staff on checking in gave the impression that I was the first person ever to attempt this feat, there was no iron/board in the room, the room smelled, the safe didn’t work and every single element of this hotel screams that it was built to the lowest possible budget. Because it was. If an hotel can’t afford to put breakfast on a plate for you, then what are their other standards I wonder.

Overall a modern, soulless, airport type hotel that has taken cost cutting ten steps too far. Find somewhere better.

Dear JFY2000, The Aloft brand is different by design. We are the next generation of hotel, using technology and design to enhance experiences and move at the pace of our guests. I'm very sorry for your poor breakfast experience. We appreciate your feedback and do take it into consideration as we monitor our guest offerings. Thank you for staying with us and we hope that you will reconsider a return visit with the Marriott family of hotels. Sincerely, Evette Torres General Manager

We enjoyed our stay at the Aloft. Rather confusing between the combined hotels, Aloft and Element, as they share the same amenities and staff. Check-in is on the 6th floor, as well as where freshly made breakfast is served for $8, and a comfortable lounge area. Very clean hotel and rooms. Great shower, comfortable bed and pillows. We didn’t like the coffee maker, rather flimsy little coffee machine. And the coffee in the lobby was very weak. There’s a Joffrey’s Coffee directly across the street. The roof top restaurant was awesome. We dined there lunch and breakfast. Great crab cakes. This is an upcoming area, completely under construction, only a few stores are completed. Our only complaint is the parking, although there is a large parking area within this complex you are forced to have valet parking as is no overnight parking in the parking lot. Valet is $29.99 plus tax per day in a covered parking garage that is attached to the complex. Would of given a 5 star if it wasn’t for the parking and ongoing construction. The staff were all very accommodating.
